App- potato and cheese pierogies Steph: fried dumpling amazingness, especially after coming from a brewery tour. The sour cream + applesauce pairing was way better and than I expected. Zach: App was pretty tasty. First time having pierogies. Entrees: Vegan sloppy joes - oh my gawd I wish I hadnt been so full when I started eating this. Amazing. So good. I havent had a vegan sloppy Joe in all 8 years of being a vegetarian and would recommend and would also eat again. Skylark burger- burger with onion rings, cheddar - very delicious Final thoughts: steph- far away, but would come back because they have awesomeee vegetarian + fish options, cheap. But cash only. Zach -Would recommend, small-ish menu but very tasty Price and service was great and cheap. Menu was small, but amazing. Tasty (and diverse) options but would recommend in a heartbeat

Everything was good except for the blonde server. I havent been in any rest or bar with such type of service. She was very desrespectful and treated us like sh..Just because we asked anorher server for some more bread since we were a big group and we asked the blonde lady, but we didnt know if she heard us when my son asked for some more. She came back with a very bad attitude and tone of voice yelling things to my son and throwing the plate of bread to the table. When she brought back the check I told her how disrespectful she vwas and she screamed at me non sense stupid things. OWNER or MANAGER you should fire this person who is not giving a good reputation to your place!! You lost many good clients last night! She should get another job,... this one is not for you blonde lady!! Shame on you!

Two friends of mine decided to try this place out because they had heard about the burgers and the fried chicken. I got an invite on this little adventure and was excited to try something new. I got the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and side salad. Got a coke on the side. The coke was flat as a tired after going over one of those spike strips. The fried chicken was very crispy and made with panko crust. I didnt love the taste. It had a fried fish taste to it. The food was all luke warm. Salad was the best thing on my plate. Looks like they had some great drink specials. Might stop back for that but never food again.

Im rarely in Pilsen, but when I do go down south you can usually find me at the Skylark. The bar has all the charm of an old school VFW without the smell of smoke and formaldehyde getting in the way. Its usually not too crowded, the drinks are affordable and everyone loves the tots (and their accompanying dipping sauces). Ive even taken a friend there for dinner BEFORE getting drunk. Ive also had their burger save me from myself on many late night occasions. BONUS: They have a working photo booth that is way more reliable than the one at Rainbo in Wicker Park.

Skylark is an awesome, no frills neighborhood joint on the border of Pilsen and Bridgeport. Dont come here for great service, fancy bartending or trendy decor. Do come here for great local beers, juicy delicious burgers, the nightly specials and simple mixed drinks. Bring your friends, decks of cards, have fun in the photobooth, order some tots, enrich yourself with the bathroom graffiti. My best nights here have been in the dead of winter when I need the warmth of an old leather booth, a jack and coke, and no expectations.

Came in on a thursday night. Tired from work and ordered a stiegel grapefruit radler and salmon sandwitch. The server brought me a different beer and when i asked her for the radler she proceeded to argue with me and said they dont take returns. I asked for a manager because of how rude was and she went on to give me attitude. The manager was equally as rude with a bouncer next to him as if they where ready for a fight. I ended up leaving. Best of luck to this group.

Awesome beer selection (not in number of options, but in quality of options.) Excellently priced. Great low-key atmosphere. Reasonable volume inside so conversations could be had. Was there on a Saturday night and it wasnt crowded; was able to easily get a table. The grilled cheese sandwich was freaking delicious. Only knock was that service was a little slow to get to me initially, but then came around at the right pace. Cash-only.

Pilsens original white hipster bar. OK I guess if you like that sort of thing. Is suprisingly popular with some long time residents despite being a gentrification establishment. And has hosted community events in the past. Does have a sense of history about it complete with a picture over the bar of Anton Cermak. There has been a bar at this location for many decades. Many rave about the food, but I am not one of them.

This is the first Chicago bar I fell for, when visiting my cousin but before I moved here. Total dive. The floor is literally slanted. They have an old-school photo booth where you wait 3 minutes for your print, they smell like chemicals and theyre black and white. Ive never had any food here but tater tots ... which you absolutely need. Theyre like $3 for a mountain of tots with three dipping sauces. Cash only.

This place has great prices on craft beer. Beer menu is not the most exciting but everything is tried and true classics. Food is a pretty standard list of sandwiches with a few specials and tots instead of fries. This place gets a bit crowded--seemingly at random--but its never too bad. My only complaint is theres an occasional draft that seems a bit flat. I always just ask whats new to avoid that problem.

Tater tots. Beer. Quirky crowd and atmosphere. That about sums up Skylark. Be aware that I chose to put tater tots before their amazing beer selection and prices. Great place to visit after Pilsens gallery walks on the second Friday of each month. Also dont be quick to judge their entrees from their decor as they have some delicious options outside simple bar food.

Its a neighborhood bar where the regulars change according to the hour. Im in the dinner time group and love their food, especially the burgers. Tots are great and I groove to the homemade pickles. Theres a talented, caring cook in that kitchen. Im not a big drinker, but I understand the bar selection is good. My single beer is always great.

Many good memories at this place from birthday parties to playing pinball with Broken Social Scene. Going to Nightwood for dinner and then having drinks at the Skylark was a killer one-two combo. Have not been in recent years but the last time I went the tots seemed different and they replaced the sour creme and chive sauce with ranch. :(

Its cash only, but so much cheaper than other Pilsen bars. Their food is fantastic! I go here for dinner at least once a week, and its not the typical bar fare, though they do have burgers and tots if thats your thing. The only downside is the toilet like odor in the air, but you get used to it pretty quickly-its a dive after all.

Im eating here right now and while we are waiting for our food the waitress asks for our money because we look "sketchy" So 3 teenagers from the suburbs, are in Chicago trying eat food at this business and we do nothing but order and sit down and get discriminated against. Dont come here if youre younger and hungry.
