What do you say about a bar that has been in business for so long. How about, I was there on Saturday night with some friends and it was so hot and noisy we had to leave. My girlfriend only drinks wine and their wine list is lacking variety. I probably wont go back, but I would still recommend it. Its not my kind of place, but I really do understand why they have been there so long and I hope they stay there a long time.

If you like old wooden authentic pubs with great prices & awesome service, then this place is for you. We come here every time were in town. Guinness severed properly. No kitchen on site, but you can order from hot dog place next door. A few TVs for sports, but only music being played, so conversations can be heard. Well see people from all walks of life, dressed in jeans or suits. Everyone is welcome here.

Came here for St. Paddys day and had s great time. The bar was packed wall to wall but the bartenders did a great job getting you drinks and were friendly and fun the entire time. Not a huge bar so when its crowded its tough to move, but still a cool place. Small outdoor patio and you can order bet from the hotdog placed next door. Great stop if youre looking for an Irish pub near the magnificent mile.

Guy at front was rude didnt greet us just said I need your Id while he was letting other people thru the door greeting them and not checking their id. Soon as we finally sat down we were asked what we wanted and we didnt know. So they asked us to get up for the 2 other woman who knew what they wanted. I guess thats my fault for trying to find somewhere knew. 0 stars in my opinion.

definitely a diamond in the rough. its a great place to go if ur looking for a cool pub right off michigan avenue. it was not too packed when i went in and the staff was really nice and knowledgable. a ton of seating and tvs for such a small place and its great. and if you want some fast and easy food theres hot dogs next door.

Visited this place with coworkers. Ok beer choices - bottle and draft. Atmosphere could use a little pick me up. It has the appearance of a bar with good, loud speakers and his amount of TVs. Just werent too loud that day or maybe just a lax day. We did not try the food since we had eaten prior to.

Pippins is a great local tavern on Rush. I stumbled in here one day on a bar crawl and have been back time after time. The beer selection is respectable, the menu is geared towards pub food, and the clientele is friendly. Great spot to take a break from shopping or walking around to grab a beer.

Went in with the bf for a few late night drinks. The drinks were at a fair price for a big city and pretty strong. We asked for them to make the 2nd one stronger, which they did! Either way, we are most likely going to check out their food next. PS, I think they stopped serving alcohol at 3:30am.

Super friendly staff but the place always reeks like old sewage. Just an old dumpy dive bar that smells with overpriced drinks, the only thing in my opinion that I think they have going for them is that there one of the only dive bars open late in River North

This is a must stop every time we visit chicago. Get a seat at the bar, enjoy the friendly bartenders and dont be a dick. Just relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Order some dogs from next door and you are set. Decent beer selection for a smaller bar as well.

Stopped here while on business. Its a dive bar with a decent beer selection and food is from Downtown Dogs next door. Had a classic dog and fries that was pretty good. Id stop by for another beer or two. Starts getting busy in the later evenings

I was looking for a quick meal to get my blood sugar up. Dropped into this quaint bar and had the Monday special, Downtown Dog and Fries. Threw in a couple of beers, and I was good to go. Thanks to our server Katherine, who was lovely.

This tavern was absolutely terrible. The bartenders were extremely rude and they watered down their vodka. My boss was given a shot of water when she ordered a shot of vodka. Just overall shady business. I dont advise ever coming here.

This place is fantastic and kind of adorable - I love the wooden interior and how cozy it feels, especially during the holidays. The bartenders are super sweet and handle the crowds really well. Really great spot for happy hour!

Top notch dive bar. Every time I go the wait staff or bartenders are great, too - good banter combined with good service. Doesnt hurt that you can enjoy some of Chicagos best hot dogs while you put back a pint or two.

Service was good, but the place smelled really weird (someone else mentioned urinal cakes, and I think that is about right)... Not sure why people talk about good prices, i thought $7 beers were not that great..

Great atmosphere and crowd at Pippins. Staff is always friendly, and you are sure to have a great time with people youve never met before. Its like a towny-bar, even though it is full of tourists and locals.
