Let me start off by saying that I have been here many times over the years and attended their annual Dark Lord Day a few times and have never been disappointed. Always have fantastic brews and there food is outstanding. I was just there this past weekend (8/23/15) and the day started out well enough. We arrived just before their 11AM opening and had literally no wait to get in. Three of us traveled over an hour to spend an afternoon here for a few drinks and to catch up. After I had four beers, and the other guys had two each, they cut us off. The waiter stated he could not serve us any more beer but we are welcome to order our meals if wed like. Keep in mind, we had not been being loud, obnoxious, or disrespectful to the staff or any other patrons in their establishment. We agreed that we would order our food, enjoy our meal, and be on our way. About ten minutes later, the waiter returns with our bill, slaps it on the table and says "Your food is being put in to-go containers, you need to leave." and walks off quickly. Confused as to what and why this had just happened, I brought the bill (which was over $200) to the hostess and asked if we could have the food charges removed as we hadnt even got out order and were already being asked to leave. He said he would talk to the waiter and see what we could do. Less than 30 seconds later, four to-go containers and a lady (I assume was the manager on duty) arrive and demand payment. When I questioned the manager about why we were being asked to leave, she just continued to say we need to leave. Nobody had an explanation as to why we were being sent on our way in this manner. Was it because we had been there for an extended period of time? There was no wait for seating and we werent wasting any ones time with a bill over $200. Was it was because they decided we had too many drinks? Maybe they should set a limit like Solemn Oath has in their taproom (3 beers per person). Even at that limit, only I had one more and the other guys hadnt even had that many. Needless to say, after this experience you can bet I will not be returning. It is a shame that the brewpub staff is as inconsiderate as this to long time customers and risks losing more if they keep it up this way.

3 Floyds has undoubtedly made quite the name for itself. So, with that said, dont get your panties in a bunch if you are greeted with a long wait when you arrive at this cozy brewpub. Its worth it. The theme within the pub can be vaguely classified as metal. Find tattooed and pierced staff, graphic art adorning the walls, and heavy music. Staff is knowledgeable and passionate about the beer. They fit as many seats as they could in the limited square-footage, so some areas may seem a little cramped, but who cares when youre amongst fellow humans that have good taste in beer. For me, the food is definitely better than what I have found in most bars. But I havent yet had the "omg" experience that I have heard from others. The menu frequently changes, and they always have an interesting layout of modern to eclectic choices. I have always been satisfied with everything I have ever ordered, but I would still first recommend the beer over the food. Do note that it is first a brewery. The pub portion opened 5 years after the brewery was established in Munster, so the beers are fresh and inexpensive. Currently, my top brew is "Apocalypse Cow." If you are lucky enough to get a ticket to the infamous "Dark Lord Day," which falls on the last Saturday in April, you will be able to partake in their "Dark Lord" imperial stout, which is only served on that day. I, alas, have yet to taste that sweet nectar. On the side of the brewpub, you can purchase your beer as carry-out in 6-packs, cases, bombers, or growlers. Check their website or call them to see what they have available. This place is busy, so patience is a virtue, my dear beer geek.

As we always enjoy their craft beer, a group of us decided to go enjoy it together in person. We arranged for a ride, and new that there would be a wait. We waited for about 90 minutes. As our table was being cleared, I politely asked if my friend could kindly have a seat while we waited. My friend, I explained, has MS and that she could no longer take the heat outside and could she just sit in ( I pointed) to this empty chair. She said absolutely not. She could not accommodate her under any circumstances, and we had to go outside. (Heat is VERY hard on someone with MS) she then got a manager, who had an even worse attitude and started yelling at her husband, telling us that they didnt need our business, and we were welcome to leave!!! Remember, this is all going on while a table is being cleaned for us to sit at! ! I am so disgusted, horrified, hurt, stung, mostly sad for my friend who was embarrassed by the fact that now her condition was made known to the entire restaurant. And, that they would treat someone with a handicap with such utter disrespect, is unethical, immoral, and shameful. Oh, and, by the way, I believe, illegal!!!!!! I do not know who hires, and trains the management at this facility, but I certainly hope that no one with any sort of handicap is ever treated the way she was treated anywhere. Shame on them. Their behavior was deplorable, and can I easily say, not only will we never be back, I would tell anyone I knew our experience.

Yeah 3 floyds has great brews. Maybe one of my favorite brewing companies. But Im not here to review beer. Im here to talk about pizza. This place has really good food. Stop in at the Brewpub and make sure to order yourself one of their gourmet pizzas, theyre great! Crust-nice smokey flavor, you know it was set directly into a brick oven,on no pan,or if it wasnt,it definitely has that taste. Floury bottom, some charred boils on top. Pretty good. Sauce- orangish in color. I dont think that means anything but I did notice it to be a bit lighter than some other sauces. Taste complimented the cheese and crust well. Cheese-tastes great, has a little bit of that smokey flavor as the crust. I find that a good fire/ wood oven taste is hard to find. The cheese was seasoned with grated Parmesan and large grounds of black pepper which made it interesting but not spicy. It was good. If youre going here, youre lucky to be having some of the best brews ever,in an environment suited for the bearded, and tattooed but comfortable for anyone who loves great beer. The food is always great, the pizza probably isnt the best thing on the menu, but I just love pizza. If youre in NWI trying pizzas,I recommend checking this little hidden spot out.

Dark Lord Day was the most poorly managed event I had ever attended. Cattle receive more consideration when they are led to slaughter and oddly enough, that is how you feel as you wind through the the maze of fences to discover there are only 2 lines at the end to check you in. Two lines for thousands of people and then one line to pick up beer. I know there are many people who attend, but they know this in advance and do nothing (I guess there could be one line). The employees actually moves you along like cattle. One guy stands on the other side of the fence with a bull horn ordering you to keep the line moving like you actually need to be told. I wanted what he wanted but I would have to trample the people in front of me to execute his orders. Two food tents with more long lines are what waits for you on the other side and people serving beer who complain that you wont give them a tip (they say this before you even have chance to pay). One guy even offered to violate their policy and give two beers for a tip. I guess you need to bribe the employees to get what would normally be considered reasonable service. It would have know this I would have bought them all off to avoid the miserable experience.
