Not worth it. Sad that we wasted a Sunday morning brunch on this. We came in and the hostess ignored us for a moment and was rude to all her coworkers. The next gal came up and was quite nice but sat us right in the doorway even though there were so so so many more open seats. We ordered drinks that were mediocre at best. The waitress mostly didnt pay much attention to us. I actually prefer when they dont pay much attention because Id rather be not interrupted because I have this awkward compulsion to make small talk with waiters and it totally screws up my conversations, but this chic was straight up no where to be found. I looked at the menu and wasnt super impressed. It just oozes big box corporate: pretty unoriginal and unremarkable... I was dubious about my order, but it seemed safe because it was just a normal egg sandwich. I asked for it to be on sourdough. It had a lemon aoili on it, but really was just fish and chips tartar sauce mayonnaise. The fried green tomatoes were good, and they actually had these really good thicker than chips, thinner than fatty old french fries kind potatoes. Id like to believe it was an off day for the reataurant, but meh. Im not coming back to find out. We ordered 1

Used to love this place. Venue itself is great as well as the drinks. However, for the love of God, DO NOT DO AN EVENT HERE! DO NOT DEAL WITH MANAGEMENT HERE! Planned a birthday party of about 25 guests. Booked the venue over the course of phone conversations and email correspondence a week in advance. Received multiple confirmations via phone and email that my deal was set. I planned a $30 wristband package from 9-11 pm. When I arrived at the venue nothing was set. My guests werent seated until 9:15 and the manager on duty said the deal wasnt in place although I had all the correspondence proving otherwise. At that point, rather than have my guests wait I just wound up placing the entire event on my card. They even had the gall to charge me for going over the allotted time even though they werent even ready. There were no apologies from the management and nothing was done to rectify their poor organizational skills. They didnt even have the courtesy to respond to an email I sent after the event to explain themselves. Thus Ive resorted to the lowest common denominator--creating a yelp account to publicly antagonize this amateur operation. Just a very unprofessional experience. Dont go here!

Theres nothing special about D4. Im glad to see that the place has finally found its footing since it first moved into my building a few years ago. There are a few decent dishes like the fish and chips (extremely important of youre going to call yourself an Irish Pub), and the lobster mac and cheese, so I dont mind going there with friends or family that stop by. They have a good beer list too with plenty of ciders and a fairly standard guide to mixing the two (ie Snakebite). I only go there because its convenient though. I wouldnt go out of your way to come here as there are plenty of other places in the area that your dollars will get you something more fulfilling or a place that has more character at least.

We wanted a non insane place to eat food and watch the Cubs World Series game. We came here and told them when they sat us that we wanted to watch the game. Let me preface this with this is not a sports bar so I guess we had unrealistic expectations. We were sat in the dining area where there were 1 or 2 TVs. It was uncomfortably hot in the restaurant. We went back to the hostess and asked if there was a spot in the bar area. There kind of was but again poor view of the tv and also still miserably hot. So we left, which is unfortunate because the menu looked good. I will have to come back another time. However, I hope its not super hot inside- sooo uncomfortable (this also played a big role in why we left)

D4 has become a neighborhood staple in Streeterville. With a cheerful decor, terrific food and delightful staff this place cant be beat as a great spot to hang with friends. Especially now with decreasing temperatures, the fireplace is also a big hit with the locals. As for specific food recommendations, I especially enjoy the blackened salmon salad, the French Onion Soup and the burger sliders. There are lots of other gems on the menu like Lobster Mac & Cheese and Chicken Pot Pie. You really cant go wrong. Check out their website for a glance at the menu and some nice photographs of the place.

I live in the Streeter just above the restaurant and have been going there for almost a year. I have noticed a steady decline in both the service and the food quality over that time. Just last night I was seated and waited over 10 minutes without having anyone come to my table to greet me. I got up and left disgusted with the lack of service. The food is overpriced for the quality. The only bright spot is the variety of beers that are available. In my opinion there are many better Irish Pubs in the area that are a better value and better service.

Wow. Im surprised at how bad of a time my group had. When we got there for the superbowl they said it was a $30 cover that included food and drinks. We said that was cool and gave cash (after the hostess snapped that they were only taking cash). It turned out only wells and beer were included, the food was a typical party platter (cheese, chips, veggies) and there were two empty pans that there might have been some kind of meat in at some point. Most of the people were complaining, and the servers were nasty. Horrible experience.

I come here all the time - you cant find a better balance of beer selections, yummy food (best: mac and cheese, mini burgers, shepherds pie...its all good!) and comfortable ambiance for a reasonable price, especially considering their location. The servers are prompt, and helpful if you need drink recommendations. Great for a low-key, classy start to a date night, weekend brunch on their patio, or cozying up to the fire in the winter for real Irish corned beef.

Excellent food and our server Darrick (if I remember his name correctly) was outstanding. D4, Chicago, the food service industry, and Darricks mother back home can be very proud to have someone like him in their midst. Great food is always a treat, but outstanding service is what really made the meal memorable for my wife, daughter, and I. What a remarkable young man. When in Chicago, D4 will be the place we will eat at. Job well done to all who work there!
