Being a Northsider and a friend who lives down here claims that this was the best of the southside bakery and restaurant for their gourmet "Twinkie" like pastry that I could not find. I had given him a Japanese Swiss roll cake that he compared it to and was curious to understand his taste. Well I was quite disappointed on what I thought would be a great bakery but it was not. On top of that is the fact that they do not stay open past 2 pm. I was also resentful that the server Megan was Unenthusiastic on answering my questions on what is the popular pastry down here as she was the one who served me but decides to serve customer at the restaurant. I would give this place a try again for their coffee since my friend boost this was also good for fresh coffee versus Starbucks and dining in but the pastries would be the last thing on this I would order here from. I was disappointed about that.

This is a place that my wife and I go to when we want something special. My wife is a coffee snob, and they roast their own beans on the premises. It smells WONDERFUL. The staff is VERY friendly, the food is really good, and if you luck up and find the person there who roasts the beans youll learn a LOT about coffee. Some of the art on the wall is even for sell. VERY special neighborhood spot. Definitely worth a visit

Service was rather lousy, with a waitress who didnt refill waters at all even though mine was empty halfway through visit. My $11 eggs benedict breakfast did not leave me full, and the side of hashbrowns were overcooked potato chunks without seasoning, not hashbrowns and not tasty. The two stars is simply because the eggs benedict was quite good. Nothing life-changing, but a better than average breakfast entree.

Weve only stopped in here to purchase roasted-on-premises coffee. OK, and an occasional pastry from their display counters (good stuff, BTW). The coffee is what shines here, to us. My girlfriend and I especially enjoy their Mexican coffee beans, which we grind at home. It makes a flavorful, but very low acidic coffee thats one of the best of several (from here and many others) that weve tried.

I really love the Danish. I feel compelled to update an earlier not-so-savory post I made in haste - this place is wonderful. The atmosphere is old school charm and the price is just about right. I had one of the best, most creative and delicious experience for breakfast at this restaurant. The specials are consistently delicious, the waitstaff is very good and helpful. Of all the places Ive gone to in the whole city, this is one of the very best. AND Ive never had to leave my name and wait for 45 minutes to get a table.

Not crowed for 9:30 breakfast time. Service & food for a Tuesday morning were horrible. Order came out wrong, food was burned & not special in anyway. For a cafe, I expected fresh cream & great coffee. Coffee lacked flavor & dairy products were prepackaged. Went to celebrate moms 85th birthday. Very disappointing.

Way over priced food, waste of money, especially buying coffee there. And amount of food severed isnt enough to fill you for what your paying for. And Im a average person. $8 for a small egg sandwich without chesse and bread wasnt even the one ordered. They cant tell the difference.

Great food got full fast, they have a unique selection of pancakes. The bacon pancakes are a must if youve never tried them. Also the skillets are so filling, and the desserts are a must try. They got rid of the cheesecake bites but still should try the wonderful muffins.
