After reading reviews I was hesitant about dining at Cafe Corea. Then I show up, to find it empty, cold, and unwelcoming (the environment and people). The waiters (Im also assuming owners) are very quiet, but they listen and observe. They dont offer you anything, but saw me struggling with my chopsticks and politely landed a fork next to my bowl; attentiveness is appreciated. The food was satisfying, in both flavor and proportion. Dont ask me what I ate, I simply dont remember how to spell it-- but fresh and delicious are words I can. Form your own opinion, and get it a try.

Im a Korean and I was surprised how grumpy and expensive they are. Dont even mention the taste.. Foods are dry and not authentic and small portion. Way way over priced. Feel bad for 1) local Korean people who dont really havw choices and options and have not really lots of money because most of them are students, 2) non-Korean people believing that these are what Korean people eat usually. They need to at least lower the price & make food better to be competitive.

Surprisingly authentic Korean food on a stretch of subpar Asian restaurants on 55th by the lake. As far as I can tell, run by an older Korean couple who have settled into comfortable middle age in Hyde Park. I call the male owner "barely smiling man" - fondly, of course, because he doesnt seem quite practiced at that particular facial expression. Its a small place so its often busy but never noisy.

The food is fine; if you are craving Korean and in the area, try it. But its way overpriced and missing the quintessential hallmark of a good Korean restaurant, unlimited banchan (side dishes, kimchi, etc). Max there are 4 kinds a day and you get very small portions AND have to pay for more. The bibimbap & sogogi soon tubu are average. Mandu guk is good.

I love this place. Im a Korean myself and I can guarantee you that their food is so authentic and quite tasty. The owners remind me of my own parents. Their kimchi jjigae is decent -although my nana makes a better one lol. If you want to try out an authentic Korean meal within your neighborhood, this is the place.

They are very good. I really like a lot of their dishes. Its all done by the owners (cooking and waiting). They give you that feeling like you are having a good home meal by mom and dad. Dont listen to that guy below me george1900. You arent suppose to rate their left overs.

Great food - this is my new favorite place in Hyde Park. The open kitchen and tiny restaurant mean you cant avoid taking the smell with you after you eat there, but its worth it. And for the smell-conscious, their food holds up pretty well when taken out.

Its a tiny mom & pop, but that makes it all the better. The owners are always friendly and their food is always consistent and delicious. The bibimbap is always a classic, and I really enjoy the kimchi soups as well.

We go there weekly and we LOVE their food. The owner is a kind older gentleman, always very polite and friendly. It could be less expensive but, either way we will continue to go there.

I will never go this place again! The food they made nothing spatial and much pricey than the quality and quantity! Even I can made their food at home easily.

Best Korean food I have ever had. Our entire family is wild about the pancake. I also highly recommend the soups and pork bulgogi.

Been going here for ten years for their tofu stew. If only I could scream "YUM!" in Korean... (or is it still "YUM!")...

The food is great. Its 4 stars for a quick authentic Korean meal at a reasonable price. Zero ambiance.
