I used to come here all the time in late 2013, and hadnt been since I moved out of state. Its just as lovely as I remembered. The service is excellent, the food is delicious. I had the short stack with scrambled eggs on the side, and my fiancee had the sour cream pancakes with peach compote. The coffee is good, and the new mugs are cool. This is a wonderful neighborhood spot, with ample natural light, nice hardwood floors, and counter and table seating.

Was here for brunch and had chicken and waffles. The food was delicious and the portions are hearty. They give you three pieces of chicken (note its bone in chicken not chicken strips): leg, thigh, and wing. It was quite a bit of food. The waffle was served in two pieces and had just the right amount of fluffiness. The meal was so big that I only had one of the three pieces of chicken. Overall, great food at reasonable prices!

I Google for a breakfast restaurant near me and Breakfast House came up. It boasted the best chicken & waffle. This was my first visit. I ordered the chicken & waffles. I was informed that it will take about 20 min. Appreciated the info. Service was exceptional! ! Coffee strong and delicious. The food was great. Chicken & waffle were both crispy & moist. Plan to return for breakfast next weekend. ;-)

This place is my favorite neighborhood breakfast spot! The staff is always very nice and everything I have ordered has been great! They have free wifi and the windows in front let in sunlight. Its busy in the morning on weekends and Ive heard people grumble about it, but thats what happens when its a good place! Be prepared to wait about 10-20 min on a Saturday or Sunday morning- its worth it!

The ambiance was nice, cute little place. I expected more in terms of food considering the review rating. I ordered the salmon cake plate for breakfast. The "cakes" were not moist, but soggy, as if they had been frozen then not properly thawed before being "cooked". In other words, they werent fresh. Also, the potatoes were stale and the eggs were rubbery. Im not a food critic but...

Dont listen to the low ratings, theyre spoiled with having 2 minute fast food all their lives. If youre looking for something cozy and delicious come to this place, like they said, the waffles and chicken are amazing. The waiters are friendly and offer good suggestions. Went in at about 11 and wasnt very busy at all. Try it out, Im sure youll have just as good experience.

Just placed an order with this place and I dont know what she heard over the phone but my order was totally wrong. I ordered two eggs scrambled with potatoes and white toast. My fiance comes back with my order and it has egg whites and wheat toast. The only reason why I gave them one star was for the only part of my order that was correct the potatoes.

Phenomenal. As a first time visitor to the city I would eat here every day if I could. Its tough to find great chorizo away from home but this place really nailed it. The prices are more than reasonable as well. Next time youre in Chicago make Breakfast House your first stop!

Went to grab lunch to go as we moved in down the street. Waited 20 min for a tuna melt and when I walked one block to the office on a hot day the food was cold and old tasting. Went in for morning coffee twice and it tasted old and very bitter. Will not go back.

Another best kept Chicago secret! This restaurant is awesome, the staff is very friendly, the food choices are excellent, and the setting is very cozy and comfortable. They have a wonderful selection of soups that change daily.

I eat here regularly and the food is consistently good and worth the price. They have a habit of putting avocado on almost everything, and they get it right every time! The service is excellent and fast. Definitely a West Town staple!

I was so skeptical. I looked at the menu "is this Spanish food ? But I said what the hell. Lets step out side the box for a change. When i tasted those pancakes my mouth dropped. Two thumbs up. This is officially a staple for me.

Abysmal first impression. Unfortunately, I cant rate food Ive never eaten. Sat at the table for 10 min and didnt receive so much as a greeting. There are too many great places in the area to waste my time on poor service.

Fresh, high quality fare is what you will find here. Like most Chicago places they are BYOB which is nice. Will get a little crowded on the weekends but its totally worth the wait. Take out is just as good too...

Great coffee (intelligentsia) and service. The chicken and waffles were perfect. My friend got those. I got the Breakfast House Hash, which was good but kind of a boring dish. Get the chicken and waffles!

Amazing food and place. Found it by pure luck, and Im so happy I did. Its in a neighborhood and you have to find street parking, but its so worth it. Family friendly and seating inside and out.

A solid neighborhood breakfast joint. A bit small; so, timing matters. Reasonably priced, decent coffee and standard dishes. Nothing too crazy - as breakfast food should be.

Solid breakfast spot with great specials. Breakfast burrito had a lot of bacon. The supreme chorizo hash couldve used more guac. Staff was friendly and polite coffee was great!

Superior breakfast food. Chilaquiles excellent. Best pancakes in the city: thin, light & buttery. Great for patty melts, too.
