Just finished a little holiday shopping at The Container Store and Apple Store on North Ave. and my friend, let’s call him M, offered to buy me lunch. It was about 2 pm and as I waited for him to finish at the Apple store, I Googled Burger Bar across the street and checked the menu. It looked pretty good. So we walked across Clybourn Avenue. I ordered the Gyro burger: lamb and beef. I needed a little protein. M ordered a reg. cheddar burger. Our burgers arrived within 5 minutes from the order. We didn’t even get our drinks – bloody Mary’s. I initially asked for a hot drink and the waitress-bartendress said only coffee. A full bar on Clybourn in winter with no hot drinks. Where was I? The twilights zone? I asked about a hot butter rum: you do have hot water and rum, right? Dug into the burger with knife and fork. It was raw. I asked for medium. I was wearing sunglasses (my reg. glasses in the car) so I couldn’t be sure. It was raw! I call the manager over and show him the meat. So he says it looks close to medium. Bullshit! He reluctantly sent it back to the kitchen. The second pass was still raw and cold. I couldn’t believe that the Asian manager fellow (you know who you are) wouldn’t own it. M was long done with his cold cheeseburger, when my gyro returned. He also asked for mayo about 3 times. My appetite had waned and I reluctantly bit into a piece with tomato and feta. Hard and chard! Would not be overpriced if the place was flawless. Sayonara suckers!

You know how thick the bible is well that is the beer list at this place! They do not mess around when it comes to good beers. It wont take you long to get a spot, or get served but figuring out what you want that could take forever. I found this place out of luck and an unfortunate series of events. Basically a buddy of mine and I were riding our bikes to meet a friend for dinner when he got hit by a car. He was pretty shooken up when I saw this place and said lets just go sit down and grab a beer and when you are ready we can go. Well once we sat down we called our buddy to meet us here because we never wanted to leave. Through the course of that night we invited friend after friend to meet us because this place needed to be shared! Everyone that works there is super friendly and nice the service is great. The food is amazing and best of all the beer list! Now I am not a vegetarian but my ex is and she swears that this is hands down the best place in Chicago to get a veggie burger. I have been back here so many times since that first amazing night and it is probably one of my favorite places to go. Do not think twice about a visit here you will not be let down and I am sure you will be back again and again.

I entered the Burger Bar about 2 hours ago after seeing it on my way to the gym 3 times a week for a month (counter active right lol). I was quickly and energetically greeted and seated by one of the owners (very charming blonde guy). My waiter was so friendly and helpful due to this being my first time trying the place, he made suggestions and answered everyone of my many foodie-type questions patiently. I was so unsure of which entree to try that i just ordered a burger salad... Moments later i changed my mind again and one of the severs politely grabbed my waiter, he happily re-took my order and assured me there were no worries! Now that the service is clearly top notch i anxiously awaited the taste of my Angus burger... My diet just wouldnt allow me to try one of the tempting shakes but the ones on other folks tables looked incredible.... Once my food arrived i tried the sweet potato fries first, as I am very particular about those and their texture.... They were PREFECT! Crispy, slightly sweet and full of favor! The burger was IMPECCABLE! All of my toppings were fresh and generous, and the large burger was juicy and freshly cooked, almost burned my tongue, but delicious!! I am in love with this place!!

We visited this awesome burger place around 4:45-5:00 on a Friday late afternoon. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. You can virtually mix and match any of the menu ingredients for your own custom burger or choose one from the menu. They also have chicken, turkey, and vegetarian burgers. They have a lot of ingredients to choose from so we were not disappointed. My husband enjoyed the craft beer selections. The interior decor was fun but family friendly. The cost is reasonable as your burger comes with a side. Certain higher end ingredients do cost a little extra but I expected that. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting a good beer and attending to us on a regular basis. Atmosphere was fun and laid back. We will definitely be going there again.

Came on a Tuesday night, wasnt too busy. I had a taste of the Sassy Chicken Wings which had a good spice to them. They were flavorful and the sauces which came with them were also tasty. My only complaint is the skin on the wings werent fried on like I usually like (personal preference); it was a little more "loose". For my main course, I had the Smokehouse burger, ordered medium but was medium-well (so order medium rare), and a side of truffle fries. The brisket was decent (not great) and I didnt think it added much flavor or value to my burger. The truffle (and sweet potato) fries were both very good.

Went here for their veggie burger and liked it. While there was a seriously long wait for a Sunday evening, I was still pleased with my food. As a vegetarian food blogger, I was just not happy with the service of the place. Its been a while since Ive been and the food was actually pretty good, so I will probably have to go back and give them another chance. My meat-eater friends, however, love this place! If youre a burger lover in the DePaul area, you should definitely go give them a chance. As a vegetarian, it wouldnt be my first option in that neighborhood!

They have some amazing burgers.. I mean how could you go wrong with grass fed beef and a whole bunch of topping selections? They also have a great whiskey selection here as well; for a burger and a drink no other place in Chicago beats it. The one downside is it feels like they gouge you a bit, I mean $1.50 for cheese... yeah thats a bit much even if its brie or a fancy cheese. Oh and the truffle fries here are to die for, even if you dont like meat you should come and check this place out (they have veggie burgers).... and get fat on Truffle fries.

The TVs are nice, everything else is meeeh. I had the gyro burger which was very very bland; its not as good as an average gyro and not as good as a regular burger, the sauce they smother on there overpowers everything else on the burger, which is good since the meat mixture tastes very odd. I took a couple of bites of the wild bill (byson) burger as well which tasted like old, stale, dried out ground meat; at least I lucked out of ordering it as my meal. The only upshot is the fries, the regular and sweet potatoes fries are OK.
