Ive had this place on bookmark for ages and somehow we just never got around to coming here. Im so happy we finally did. I was a bit surprised, because the place wasnt that full - although it was like 9pm on a Wednesday. I assume its busier otherwise. We first sat outside, which was beautiful - but then it started raining and so I was elated that there were plenty of open tables inside, because we were able to rush in. Starting off with the appetizers... the waiter recommended the fried veggies. We didnt really like these. They were deep fried very oily. I mean, usually you can fry anything and it tastes good, but Id pass on this one next time around. Everything after this was excellent. This place has one of the best veggie burger options youre going to find. And not only that... they have more than one! If I remember correctly, there are 3 different vegetarian burger options and you can substitute those veggie patties onto any of the burgers on the menu. I had the three-cheese burger with regular veggie burger pattie, and it was great. Well, Ive only been here once so far, so I cant speak for all of them, but the regular veggie burger was awesome. Its kind of like fried, which is more along the lines of the fried these of everything here, so thats probably not the healthiest thing, BUT it does mean that the pattie stays together. A lot of places you go, the pattie falls apart, because they dont have a proper binding agent. Definitely not the case here. And it tasted great too. I also got this fried avocado, which was one of the ingredients from another burger added to mine. That was delicious too. They did charge me extra for it. Lastly, the fries. They took a LONG time to come, but they were awesome. We got the Parmesan waffle fries and they were super-flavor packed. Loved them. I was mostly eating them plain without ketchup - because they had enough flavor on their own. I think they mustve had some garlic on em too. If there were a couple of things to bring up, I think Id mention that the service was a bit off. Our waiter was very nice and all, so no complaints there. When we got the burger, we didnt get the fries for probably 5-10 minutes later. I was probably half-way done with the burger by then. Also the other side we ordered came sometimes in-between then. So it just seemed kind of uncoordinated. Especially with the place not being very busy, I wasnt sure why something like that would happen. But oh well, all was not lost.

Horrible food! Horrible service!! Was very much looking forward to trying this place out. Our server Ann or Annie, was obnoxious and made inappropriate comments through our visit. An example is when she called my 16 month old daughter bipolar because she was fussy due to her teathing. She was pushy with her recommendations and seemed to rush us in and out quickly. In my party of 8 we all felt very unwelcomed and very uncomfortable. As for the food, I was excited to try their home made corned beef. The waitress told me they were out of it without apology(they only serve this dish on weekends and it was Sunday morning at 9:15am.) She rudely told me to pick something else. Really?? Anyhow, I opted to try their grass fed beef open face breakfast burger. I ordered it to be cooked medium. The burger came out mealy and tough. Very chewy and with little to no flavor. Other dishes ordered at the table were the "quiche" the "simple man" and some pancakes. All were very under whelming in flavor and consistancy. It was as if you made it yourself and it didnt turn out great but you ate it anyway. Upon leaving a couple was abruptly seated next to us by our crazy waitress who pushed into our table as she completely blocked my wife and daughter from being able to get up from the table. The couple who was seated next to us even seemed off put by this. Great waitressing Ann! I hope people read this post. I try and be fair with my posts and I always give respect where its due. Unfortunately this place had no redeeming qualities to speak of. I may have gone on a bad day but I know for certain I will never be going back!!! With a city as vast as Chicago there are plenty of options that make up for this place. I hope this post has helped.

This restaurant is really cute. They offer unique burgers that are delicious and the same can be said for their cocktails. 3 of us went here for dinner on a Friday around 7:30. We were lucky and were seated right away however when we called before we headed over there was a 45 minute wait. I ordered a hillbilly margarita which was great- just how I like my margaritas: not to sweet and I can taste the lime juice. It tasted fresh. We opted to forego appetizers and just jump into the entrees and sides. I ordered the BBQ picnic burger. It was great! cooked perfectly, Chipotle BBQ drizzle ( not too much not too little), cheese and jalapeño jicima slaw. The only thing I have to saw is the slaw was on the bottom, which made the bottom bun soggy fast so it was kind of messy to eat. I would next time ask for it on the side and place it myself as to cut down or prevent the sight issue. It was excellent though! My father in law had the Brie burger and he LOVED it! My husband like his burger as well. We ordered a side of fries ( waffle fries my fave) and a side of onion rings (not your typical onion rings) they were great but small portions and we shared them. Overall we decided we would definitely come back again! They have pies and ice cream but we were way too stuffed!

After walking past this place for a few years I finally decided to check it out for brunch. (Full disclosure: I never went in before because my sister and her fiance got food poisoning when they visited a few weeks after the restaurant first opened). I got some sort of breakfast burger monstrosity that was absolutely delicious but extremely heavy and contained many breakfast dishes in one (good for me because I am super indecisive). However, it reminded me of a less put together version of the Bulls Eye French Toast at Little Goat. Im pretty sure I went straight home and took a nap... so definitely dont get it if you have somewhere you need to be or if you need to be generally alert at all. I have also had their burgers during The Taste of Randolph street festival. They were obviously serving the most simple preparation they offered, and it was delicious. Long story short, if you are craving a burger and Au Chevals wait is 2.5 hours (which is pretty much at anytime of the day, any day of the week) then stroll on down to this place and get your fix.

No wait, a warm welcome & a burger for anybody (including vegan, gluten free freaks). We tried to get into Au Cheval but it was a "2 hour wait," so they said. Anyhow, for a Wednesday night we didnt want to wait. So we walked a block and found Grange. The service was good and the price was decent, $13- $15 a burger with $7- $13 drinks. The restaurant itself has a great vibe and cool decor. It was hip & fun enough without having to yell across the table. I had the "Ultimate" which blew my mind & my bf had the "BBQ," which he inhaled. The waffle fries were just right and I absolutely loved the sauces. Their ketchup is unconventionally good and the hot sauce was delightful on my fries. I would certainly go back & its worth skipping the wait at cliché Au Cheval. Sorry not sorry!
