We really wanted to love this place, as it enticed us with its cool atmosphere and great vibe. We stopped here on a whim on a Sunday (80+ degrees, sunny, Memorial Day weekend). The patio was pretty full so we opted for a seat inside at the open window/wall. It was pretty slow/empty inside except for maybe two or three other tables seated. The hostess was great - very outgoing and informative. We had a good feeling about the place and were excited to find a new spot. And then we waited. And waited. And waited some more. Finally our server comes up, seemed friendly enough but not much for an apology on the wait (we were probably seated 10-15 minutes before any acknowledgement, and didnt get water or anything like that). We then tell him we want the margarita/taco special, but my friend (an admittedly picky eater) asked what kind of taco and what comes with it. He explains very unclearly that it is the special and theres only one kind and possibly pork, but he will check for her. We ask for NO SALT on the rim for the margaritas, and sugar if possible. About five minutes later, we get our mystery tacos delivered (which we technically didnt agree to yet), and its not something my friend would like to eat. The table behind us is about to walk out because no one has come to collect their check. She asks for a steak taco with just the meat and the shell. Nothing else. Shes very clear on this. I decide to take the other taco so it doesnt go to waste. So now we have some tacos for me, none for her, and NO DRINKS yet. Then our drinks come once Ive finished one of the tacos, with a small apology on the wait for the drinks. Theres salt on the rims, of course. Whatever. We give up at this point. New taco comes out, and of course it has all the fixings on it despite her clear directions of "just the shell and the beef". Not too hard, right? Replacement taco on its way. Well, anyway, the food and the drinks were absolutely delicious, and if we hadnt had to pay for our servers mistakes, the price would have been right, but not for that headache again. Overall, this place has great potential, but the service leaves something to be desired.

I have never written a review before but felt compelled after the terrible service we just received. We arrived at 11:30 to a nearly empty restaurant. The workers standing around outnumbered the patrons. Our waitress was nice. She had to go ask the kitchen or a manager for the answers to our questions. The menu was definitely different from any Mexican food place we have been to and we are a picky bunch. After she answered our questions we ordered. Part of our order was nacho with meat and cheese on the chips and everything else on the side. This is quite common for us and has never been an unusual request at any other restaurant. She came back to tell us that the kitchen would not make our nacho order as requested. They said that is was a "big ass pain" to do that and the extra time it would take would be unfair to their other customers. I asked to cancel our order and bring us the check for the chips and salsa we ordered. When she brought it back I ask her if her manager was aware of what the kitchen said and our decision to leave. She said that her manager was aware. We did tip her for the amout of the chips and salsa and left. We have been in Chicago for 5 days and eaten at several restaurants. We have had all good experiences until now. It is no wonder that the restaurant was nearly empty at lunch time on a holiday. Would not recommend at all!

Went here on holiday weekend, Sunday evening around 8pm. The location was great. Easy to find and the music was bumpin. We were seated right away, but they were severely understaffed. The party to our left was seated before us and our two groups waited for 10 minutes before being checked on. My party got our food quickly but we had to ask for waters 3 times and they arrived after the tacos. Two people shared a family style platter of 6 tacos. We had two of the carne asada, two of the fried chicken tacos and two of the pork belly al pastor. Firstly, the "charred" items that came on the tacos were not charred. Especially the pineapple which was cold. The pork tacos had a lot of grease and the fried chicken tacos had unequal portions of chicken. The tacos all tasted fine, but I would not pay the regular price of $8 for two. If I were you, Id go during their happy hour when tacos are $2 a piece. That seems like the correct pricing. Overall, disappointed with the service, but I recognize that they were understaffed. The tacos were fine but I wouldnt go back.

This is a cool, energetic taco joint in the middle of the loop. While the rest of downtown may be dead at night, this place is about as loud as a restaurant gets. When I wasnt stuffing my face full of tacos, I was shouting to my friend across the table. As far as food goes, its not exactly cheap. We got the 6 taco special for $20, which lets you mix and match any flavors you want. We did 2 pork belly, 2 al pastor pollo, 1 swordfish, and 1 shrimp. All of them were quite good, but definitely not worth over $3 a piece. I also ordered the Mexican shrimp cocktail appetizer, which was some combination of guacamole and cocktail sauce, with little shrimps just thrown right in, kind of like some kind of strange soup. It was spicy and quite tasty, but at something like $13 I wouldnt order it again. I would probably come back here if I was in the area and felt like splurging, but I would rather find better prices somewhere else.

Customer service: 4 Decor: 5 Taste: 4 Value: 1 I honestly can say that this place is a great place for those after work shenanigans and lunchtime meetings. Its a lively place with a good mix of music. There is a full bar and buckets of beer to purchase. The tacos we ordered were good, flavors were good. Unfortunately, prices were not and portions were not. 6 tacos for $20? Yes, I understand this place is downtown and overhead is probably sky high, but tacos for $3.33 each? For that price for tacos there should at least be bigger portions of meat. Granted Im comparing these to southern California prices where tacos joints are a plenty. However, from what Ive witnessed there is a big Latino community here and maybe there just need to be more competition for tacos?

When I visited this place a few months back, it had just opened, and it left something to be desired. The name, especially the fact that it had tacos in it, was an easy draw. The sign signaling tacos is epic. After a millennium park Zumba session, the thing to do is replenish your calories with a margarita, naturally. One margarita leads to two, which leads to doubling down on tacos. The taco platter was great, the guacamole even better. However, the service was quite fragmented and frazzled. Oh, and there was a large chicken bone in one of the tacos and my girlfriend nearly lost her tooth. Luckily, we are a forgiving bunch. All and all, a good Saturday pit stop, but not sure that out of all the restaurants in Chicago Id make the trek back.
