My wife and I enjoyed our casual dinner at the Gabby Goat. Its not a "stinky old bar" as described by another reviewer; its rather rustic on the inside. It didnt strike me as much of a sports bar; the TVs didnt show a single baseball game while both the Cubs and Cardinals were on. (Weather channel and golf channel...?) We tried the Philly cheese steak and the turkey Reuben. Both were tasty, but the cheese steak had a sauce that would cause a few chuckles in Philly. They say theyre proud of the house fries, but I found them limp and greasy. The sweet potato waffle fries were delicious. Theyre served with a butter rum dip that was overly sweet and unnecessary (in my view). Our server, Courtney, was attentive, friendly, cheerful and very helpful, not to mention beautifully inked. The staff members we observed were on their toes. If we pass this way again, well be back.

I would give Gabby Goat more stars if I could. I come here frequently and try new things. Ive never had something I didnt like. The waffle sweet potato fries are the best Ive ever had, the icing/butter combo they serve them with is perfection. The taco salad with fajita chicken is incredible and the shell is great too. Their boneless wings are really good and very filling. The burgers are great but come pink in the middle unless you make a point to order it well done. I like that they have tons of bun and topping options for the burgers. My boyfriend orders the horseshoe with white cheese and always says its amazing. Best of all, the service here cant be beat. They seat you as fast as they can, keep your drinks filled, are quick, and get your order right. Highly recommend Gabby Goat! One of the best places in Effingham to eat.

We celebrated my daughters 21st birthday there last year and her 22nd there this year. Kids could be there til 9 so that was great. We were able to have dinner and drinks. I suggest if you are there on Thursday evening , try the rib special. They were delicious and the meat fell of the bones and was super moist and tender. The asparagus were cooked to perfection. Our server was Tyler and he was very friendly and did a fantastic job.

Food is excellent, good bar food, horrible service. Very rude, took long time to get food and the server (Angie) was very inconsiderate and messed up an order over 4 times. Didnt refill the drinks, had to ask other servers multiple times. Actually threw our food on the table at one point because she was so frustrated with our table (because we asked for our correct order, because this was the third time she messed it up.)

It says typical pub food, but there are plenty of atypical items on the menu. Catfish tacos, mini pork shanks spun in buffalo sauce, really inventive sandwiches. I was impressed by the ingenuity this spot puts into its selection, all without feeling like its anything more than a fun local place to grab a bite to eat. Definitely going to the top of my list when Im hungry and passing through Effingham.

Called 15 minutes ahead of time offered to hold me a table without even asking for that. When I get there they told me they only hold a table for 10 minutes and were Rude and told me there was no way I get out of there in an hour when on the phone I asked if we could get in and out of there in an hour and the whole reason I called so if you can stand rude employees its probably fine to eat there.

I was just passing through and only had the one experience, but it was exactly what I needed. I showed up as they were cleaning up but they never made me feel rushed. My server was great, the burger was good and there were decent beer choices. It seemed like theyre used to taking care of weary travelers. Ill be back next time Im in Effingham.

This was an okay place to eat. We were passing through town and decided to give it a try. It was average on all accounts...service, food, and atmosphere. Our food order ended up being four sandwiches, one beer, and an order of sweet potato fries. Our check with tip ended up being around $60. Definitely not worth that amount of money.

We stopped through on a road trip and Im glad we came across this gem! The service was super friendly and prompt. The drink recommendations were super and the food was delicious! Try the Peach Manhattan Martini, its delicious! We enjoyed the steak bites appetizer and the catfish appetizer. The homemade dips for both were super yummy!

We had to wait for a table on a Monday night due to all of the people stopping on their way home from the eclipse but it was a quick wait. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was OK. We had the fried smoked gouda for an appetizer which was very tasty. Great beer selection. I recommend giving Gabby Goat a try.

Slamin burga kid! Im from out of state. My boss and I decided to eat here on a whim. Im glad we did. Ended up going with the Flaming Goat Burger. Easily one of the top five of the best burgers Ive ever eaten, possibly even the country. If you get a chance go here, but note no one under twenty-one after nine PM.

Great place to grab a bite to eat, catch the game on the tube (and maybe even shoot a game of pool) in the Heart of downtown Effingham. For appetizers, I highly recommend their signature "American Ragoons" and the "Goat Wedge Salad".

I was glad we stopped. What a great place it was. The pork appetizer was slightly over cooked however. Other than that everything was delicious. Friendly quick service as well. Would recommend if your in the area or driving by.

Im a huge fan of Reuben sandwiches and this place has one of the best Reubens Ive ever had. Also, their unsweetened tea is perfect and the fried Gouda cheese is an amazing appetizer. Friendly, fast staff and great ambiance.

Not exactly an upscale place. I had a mushroom burger on some kind of rye bread and it was a tiny piece of meat on a massive piece of bread. Literally 50% of the bread had nothing between it. Good beer selection though.

Never a bad time. I usually always spend more than anticipated bit thats not because of bad prices. Best place in town to drink... period. Great tasting food and drink menu. Great specials, and always great atmosphere

I got the BBQ burger... I once paid $18 for the same style burger at vortex bar in Atlanta, and it would be lucky to taste half as good at this place for $11.... Deff would recommend this burger to everyone!
