The have a nice, and seasonally changing, selection of ice cream as well as a freezer stocked with pints, cakes, and other treats. Im not going to lie, Ive only ever had the Signature Sunset, because merlot flavored ice cream, when Ive ordered a cone. Also, the ice team sandwiches, made with chocolate chip cookies, are fantastic. My sister and I were shopping in CB2 on north on Friday before the Pride Parade. They were giving out these chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches with rainbow sprinkles. We both gushed over how good they were. The CB2 employees didnt know where they came from. When I happened to move in down the block from Bobtail and stopped in and found, to my surprise, these rainbow sprinkle chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches I couldnt believe it. And they are exactly as good as I had remembered. Check it out. If you like ice cream, youll be happy!

My kids love this place and the staff are generally way nice. But a few days we went in there and no one was at the counter. Then a woman walked out in a state of disarray with her blouse partially unbuttoned! There was a guy in back and I think there was something going on a la Monica Lewinksy. I asked if that was her boyfriend and she replied, "Managers perks!" and smacked her lips. I left there not knowing how to respond. Fortunately it all went over the little ones heads. I think they thought the lip smacking was her response to the ice cream:(

Bobtail = Old school ice cream parlor. From the decor, to the menu selection, this place screams 1950s, and its great. The ice cream is thick, creamy and flavorful. The prices are also fairly reasonable. When I was there on a week night, there was a line that stretched outside the door, which is a how popular this place is. The line moves fast, thankfully and youll be enjoying your ice cream in no time. The chocolate was amazing. A useful tip - bring cash.

This is a pleasent little shop with great, hand made ice cream and well prepared coffee! I had the strawberry ice cream and a capaccino and I give the food 5/5 ratings! The only reason I went with 4 out of 5 stars is because the employee who helped me was a little abrasive and pretty dismissive. While ordering it seemed like I was interrupting him with whatever he was doing. But overall, go for the ice cream, not the employees!

Do not go to this place and spend your hard earned money, the manager steals from the business, employees and customers. Do NOT tip as the tips DO NOT go to employees , they go to the manager. Coming from someone that worked there for almost a year I can tell you there is mold in the ice machine, mold in the strawberry topping, mold in the ice cream machines and mold on the brownies. Please do not eat here and get sick.

Bobtail is hands down my favorite ice cream spot in the city. It has treats for every taste, from classic shakes and sundaes to more "sophisticated" flavors like Signature Sunset (merlot w/ dark chocolate chips) and Lakeview Barhopper (dutch cocoa with Jack Daniels). It has an old school, soda fountain vibe and is the perfect place to stop and grab a treat as the weather starts to turn spring like in Chicago.

Homemade ice cream in the heart of Lincoln Park. I may gush a little about this place, but its hands down the best ice cream shop in Chicago. In a city where legitimate ice cream shops are surprisingly few and far between (or not that surprising given the winter) Bobtail is a creamy oasis of awesome. Classics such as cookies and cream are always winners. Check out the cubby crunch too.

Cute retro-esc ice cream shop on the corner of Wellington and Broadway. Easy to walk to. Parking might be tricky. I had the peanut butter chip ice cream (peanut butter ice cream with chocolate chips). Very good especially on a hot day. They also have milkshakes, smoothies, ice cream lattes, and coffee. A few seats inside to cool off. Definitely a must to try!

It is worth standing in line for! The ice cream is really good! I got the white chololate peanut butter and I have to say that its probably one of the best ice creams Ive had so far. I got it in a chocolate dipped waffle cone and the two went together very well. I recommend trying a flavor that you normally dont get at other stores. They have a good selection!

Affordable prices and a great selection. Their seasonal flavors are always so much fun. During the summer they had a merlot and chocolate chip ice cream that tasted just like the wine. Lots of options from scoops to a coffee/ice cream drink. Seating is minimal but its a place where you stop by, grab some ice cream, and take a walk.

One of the best ice spots in Chicago! They also have great seasonal flavors, I prefer the classics of cookie dough and white chocolate peanut butter. But once its summer I love trying their fruity flavors. But also, please keep in mind it is not limited to just ice cream. They also have great beverages that are all made in house.

Went here on a culinary tour and had the salted caramel ice cream. Wow!! So amazing. I didnt know they had a vegan option or I would have gone back for seconds. Being lactose intolerant, I usually avoid ice cream shops but this is perfect! We were there on a Friday afternoon so the line was short and seating was available outside.

The best ice cream in the city! They have creative and delicious flavors that change every few weeks. The decor and atmosphere is intimate and inviting. This is a great little after-dinner date spot, my boyfriend and I always walk here after we eat. Never been disappointed, Im halfway through my third loyalty punch card :)

Super popular place in the neighborhood, especially on warm days. It can get a bit crowded and tight inside, but the desserts are worth it. I cant really comment on the ice cream since I cant eat dairy, but their sorbets are amazing. Im in love with the lemon sorbet, it get it whenever Im nearby.

My favorite ice cream flavor has become Signature Sunset mixed with Lakeview Barhopper. Theyre only served here at Bobtail and its worth coming all the way to the North Side! Plus its super fun to eat ice cream and play old board games with missing pieces on a date night. Must go!
