I saw this place in the process of its grand opening and I couldnt wait to taste this new gourmet ice cream place in my neighborhood. I went to the shop the second day of opening and I was extremely....dissapointed. First thing, when I walked inside, I was confused and did not know where to order at all. I was not greeted nor was my presence even acknowledged. There were about 8 people in the shop and I tried to get one of the employees attention to ask how the order worked but kept being ignored. Finally, a woman who I assumed was the manager noticed me and I asked her where do I order and she said "you can order where ever". Really? Where ever? On the roof? On the sidewalk? I can order wherever I choose?! All jokes aside, I asked to try a few of the samples to see how the ice cream tasted. I tried cake batter, rocky road and birthday cake. All three were terrible and I was just about to forget about the ice cream when I say butter pecan. I figured you couldnt go wrong with butter pecan, so I tried it. I got the cone and to my surprise it came out to $6 plus tax! The menu pricing was confusing as well so I didnt know it would be so much. I paid and then left the store with my butter pecan ice cream cone. As I was walking with my cone, I noticed how fast it was melting and how icey and choppy the ice cream tasted. This ice cream was absolutely AWFUL. I have never had such terrible ice cream before. My $20 Ice Cream Machine from my 10th birthday made better ice cream than this place. I was extremely dissapointed. I spent weeks raving about this place to my friends and co workers and I was embarrassed for recommending this place. I went here two weeks ago and just today my co worker came up to me and said "That ice cream placed you recommended was gross. Worst ice cream Ive ever had" Gourmet? Heck no" Yep, talk about embarrassing. Excuse me while I go clean the dust off my 20 year old Ice Cream Machine Maker.

I never review anything, but this place is so terrible I had to. The pro: Ice cream is above average. The cons: The worst service Ive experienced in Chicago, without a doubt. They had a posted closing time of 11pm and my friends had come in and gotten our ice cream at around 10:30pm. We went to the back to sit, and then a worked came back and said "Were closing soon, could you guys move out of this area?", and Im not paraphrasing. This by itself is not a big deal, we just moved to the front. Clock strikes 10:59pm and both the workers look at my party and say "Were closed, you have to leave".. not even a "Finish your ice cream" or anything like that. What store kicks out paying/eating customers?? It was less than 40 degrees outside so their patio was not an option. To top it all off, they had already picked the front door and forced to exit around the back, which we thought was a joke.. But they werent kidding. If they want to have a strict policy like this, fine, but they should have told us this when we walked in, not let us order ice cream that late. None of us would have purchased anything if we knew of this policy beforehand. The bluntness of the workers was not appreciated. The entire place screams of unwelcoming, with signs saying that "Kids scoops are strictly for under 8", "We DO NOT allow split scoops" etc etc. To top it all of, this is the 2nd time this has happened. Visited over a year ago and experienced the same rude behavior, but just thought it was a bad day/bad employee. The problem is systemic, as nothing has changed and several other reviewers have experienced the same thing. Note: This experience happened on 3/24/17, if the owner happens to read this and is curious who is involved.

Went there last Saturday 9/23/17 after a movie. The ice cream tasted good, and they have a nice variety of flavors. I had the apple pie flavor. My rating is because of the condition the ice cream parlor was in. The glass to view the ice cream was extremely dirty the what appeared to be melted ice cream all over the glass. Also there was a guy preparing something behind the counter without gloves on. Furthermore, there was a huge mess where the employees with tubs of empty ice cream and some full. I asked for butter pecan at first and they said its soft, probably from leaving it out all day. Lastly, we went out side to eat our ice cream in the outside dining area and the tables were dirty and sticky.

The service provided by the young man working was great. The service provided by the manager was combative. We purchased a milkshake for my wife and a scoop of ice cream for our daughter. My 4 year old daughter was not satisfied with the texture of the ice cream so we wanted to replace it with a milkshake. The young lady working was not concerned about our satisfaction and said if you want another shake you would have to pay for it. I said not a problem, but she refused to refund us for the ice cream my daughter refused to eat. I guess she was the manager but her unwillingness to accommodate us reflects a lack of customer service ethic.

They have great fresh ice cream, and the vines are not like anything I had seen before, i guess I dont get out and get Ive cream enough. I took two of my grandchildren. One got chocolate ice cream on a honey come that was dipped in chocolate and also had sprinkles on it. He loved it. The other for chocolate ice cream with a come made of Oreos sans the cream. That was amazing. I was a bit taken aback when I was told that two ice cream cones cost $15. I know its gourmet, but $15? I would never pay that for myself, but who captor say no to their adorable grandchildren.

Its Sunday night, were the only customers there, and the young lady scooping the ice cream tells us she cant give out samples or tastings because they plan to be busy and a long line is bound to appear.... Whatever. We still buy what we think we like (1) oatmeal raisin cookie scoop (2) maple bacon scoop and (3) cake batter scoop. Maple bacon was a nice surprise but the other two were a bust. Workers seem friendly but overall this place isnt worth it. Oh yeah, we ate our ice cream there and no long line ever appeared.

So how would i describe my experience at Cone...... one word TERRIBLE, Ive had better ice cream at Baskin Robbins and thats saying a lot. First the line was 30 people deep, for two people we paid $10.50 we waited 30 min for what was the worst ice cream ever. To top the evening off we ate our ice cream on there patio area, and my girlfriend and I along with other customers were run off because two GIGANTIC RATS decided to come out of the bushes and join us. I dont recommend this place at all, we will never go back!

I have a high tolerance for service that has room for improvement, but thats only when the products they offer make up for it. Unfortunately, the ice cream here is nothing to write home about and the service here is something to write a Google review about. The staff was exceptionally rude and condescending, ruining my experience here. There are plenty of ice cream joints in Chicago thatre much better in both their products and services (Jenis, Margies Candies, etc), so I dont see myself visiting this place again.
