Saw this restaurant on Fox News one morning and decided to give it a shot. Very small but comforting establishment. When you walk in you get that homely feel to it, almost reminds you of a spot you would see in Miami somewhere. Came on a Wednesday and it was almost full but we managed to find a seat with no wait at all. Service was great. Waitress was very friendly and helpful with giving us more information about the menu items. Now lets get to the food... Let me first say... EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My only warning to anyone who comes into the establishment is to go in VERY HUNGRY because the portion size they give you for your entrees is huge. You are almost guaranteed to take at least anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 of your meal home. I ordered Shrimps A La Diabla (Hot) and everything from the shrimp, rice, fries and even bread was excellent. Absolutely no complaints. And even with the shrimp being hot, it wasnt hot enough to not eat. Second entree ordered was Chapuzon Del Mar (a mixture of Octopus, shrimp and oysters) and it was huge. And this was the smaller of the two selections. Im assuming that anyone who orders the Grande selection has to be sharing it with at least 3 other people. Seasoned perfectly. And if that isnt enough....ITS BYOB! BYOB! BYOB! BYOB! Its nothing negative I can say about this spot. Its almost a little hidden gem right there on Ashland. I advise anyone if they are interested in some good quality seafood with a mexican twist to it, THIS IS YOUR PLACE! Even the price is reasonable especially considering how much food they give you. Will dine many times again!

This place went to hell with the new owner and Chef, the kitchen is dirty and you can see it went walking to the bathroom, on Fathers Day we waited for an one hour to get a table witch is not a problem but we wait for some body to take out drink order for 30 minutes on a dirty table, after 30 minutes we got someone bring some snacks and to take our drink and food order, so we order some appetizers like empanadas and a docent of oysters the ones that come with everything and cheese on top, a hour and thirty minutes past and we got the oysters but guess what?? They were RAW in the middle so we refuse to take them we also ordered some chicken tenders for my 6 years old daughter well guess what??? They over cook to the point we cant not even bite them so by the time we got the empanadas our "party" was over and on a really bad mood, this place is the worst place ever to take your family for dinner and please dont even get me started with the service, busboy (none) or people who pre clean the tables or the debris on the floor and around the tables. This place is not what it used to be few years ago, DINT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME.

I placed an order of langostinos for pick up. I get to the restaurant pay for my order the food was packaged and ready to go. To my surprise when I get home and open the tray that contained the Langostinos, I find them dry, colorless landostinos, black onions. The Langostinos literally looked as if they had been made weeks ago and they had just reheated them up and bagged them up. Upon this little surprise I received, I immediately called the restaurant and the person I spoke to apologized and I was asked to call the next day between 5pm to 7pm to speak to the manager. Following her instructions, I called at the time I was told and asked to speak to the manager. The young man hesitantly said they had no manager in their restaurant. He asked me to leave my name and number and that the owner would contact me that same night or the next morning. No missed calls at night, no miss calls at night. No one contacted me. Not to mention a tray of shrimps where ordered as well. Nothing seemed to be wrong with them. I ate them and a couple hours later, I had the worst stomach ache of my life. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! BAD BAD FOOD

So the word on the street was that I had to try this one of a kind seafood restaurant. I was told I wouldnt be disappointed and the flavors would blow me out of this world. From the moment I walked in we were greeted by the friendly staff and seated immediately. Within minutes our order was taken and drinks were brought out. We ordered ceviche, langostinas, coctel de camaron, king crab legs and the Famosa Mariscada. Once we started eating away we were blown away by the flavors. I have never tasted seafood with such great flavors. By far the best seafood Ive ever had any where. The flavor is one of a kind and you will truly not be disappointed. My favorite dish was the langostinas but overall everything we ordered was extremely delicious. If anyone is looking for quality and great flavors this is your place. I highly recommend this restaurant most definitely will be returning.

I have forgotten about El Barco across the street and now consider Mariscos El Veneno the place for Mexican seafood. I love that as soon as you sit down, youre served ceviche on a tostada thats accompanied by slices of lime and a fiery salsa (EXTREMELY spicy!!). The ceviche is very tasty and sets the tone for the deliciousness thats about to come. We ordered a platter of succulent crab legs and a platter of prawns. The sauce that both are bathed in is phenomenal. We dug in and got dirty, inevitably splashing some sauce and crab bits on ourselves. The service is good and the waiters are nice. The tiny place was packed on a Tuesday night and you do feel a bit cramped. But that doesnt matter when you have these beautiful dishes right in front of you. Ive already been here several times and each time has been great!

The worst service there is. Ignorant waitresses. POOR SERVICE AND NO RESPECT FOR CLIENTS . We arrived, ordered right away because we were on lunch. We picked cold items that wpuldnt take long. This other couple arrived 20 minutes later and within 15 min they received the order which was a hot plate and our waitress comes with an order that wasnt even ours. Gave it to someone else. We asked where our order was and blamed us because we moved from table. We moved literally over a table because a bigger group came and we offered our table. She was so lost and when we went to the manager he did nothing to apologize for there incompetence. We left hungry and late to work. I am so upset at these people. To give such horrible service and not even make up for there mistake.

Honestly dont spend your time or money here, its just a waste. First of all its a crowded little shack with no type of space you can honestly hear loud and clearly the conversation the people next to you are having. The service is terrible they got both my drink and order wrong and they charged me $4 dollars for a lousy lemonade that I can make at home with the same country time lemonade powder. My food was undercooked everything was hard and had a weird taste to it, and to top it off its just plain dirty in there. I mean havent these people heard of a mop? The floor was all cover with mud, their were flies EVERYWHERE and also a bunch of hair on the grown. I wouldnt come back here even if my food was free and they paid after eating it. -10 out of 10
