Ordered four drinks, two medium white chocolate mochas, one medium hot chocolate with mint syrup, and one large matcha latte. They gave us a medium matcha latte (watery imo), and the hot chocolate had traces of coffee (we ordered it purposely because we wanted one drink without caffeine) and no trace of mint. They also ignored us for several minutes before taking our order despite making eye contact with us.

Good little coffee shop. I had a maple flavored mexican blend drip coffee. Tasty. Good music playing. Very quiet...everyone in here is studying. Across the street from University of Illinois. Im from out of town...Id return.

I moved to C-U after 20 years in Portland,OR. Espresso royale is the only coffee shop in town with the Pacific NW coffee shop vibe--snug, local, anything goes, quality coffee. 4 stars bc drive through can be a nightmare.

Always fast service, but try to avoid the busy times or plan on not hanging around the coffee shop because its hard to find a seat. A lot of people will camp out at a table with their laptops for hours at a time.

Really good coffee. They have both soy and almond milk. They also have almond syrup which no matter what some people try to tell you is not the same as hazelnut.
