I would actually rate this 4 1/2 stars. Reasonably priced, tasty food and breezy atmosphere. Ive grown to love this little restaurant over the years, and have had many memorable times here. The "Ate after 8" deals are awesome, milkshakes are unmatched (especially peanut butter!), salad bar has a wide variety of ingredients and the breakfast menu is among the best quality for the price in the area. And of course the infamous burgers are totally satisfying, without being excessive. My only point of contention is the occasional flatness of demeanor of the waitstaff, which Ive experienced a few times. But I understand waiting can be a super tiring job, and Courier has never subjected me to outright rudeness. So overall I would still highly recommend it.

Overall Ive had a good experience while eating here. The only complaints I have is that their water tastes like tap water as its like drinking chlorine. Their dinner rolls that come with the salad bar are horrible, dry, and occasionally as hard as a rock. The hamburger buns are occasionally very chewy and not that good though did see some improvement that last time I was there. Finally some of their drinks are too expensive. I shouldnt have to pay $2.32 for a kids apple juice with not even a refill offered. Having a breakfast kids menu would be nice too rather than paying full adult prices for big platters that kids cant necessarily finish anyway. Besides these points though I really like the place.

The historic building and antique ambiance is delightful. The milkshakes are delicious. Unfortunately, the dining space is cramped or "cozy" depending on who you ask. I cannot recommend the burgers, as they have been overcooked and unimpressive during both of my visits to this place; also, expect a very long wait for your food if you order one. This is a great place for a cozy milkshake date. This is not a great place for a hungry person to get a great meal with any haste. Final comment, the "fries" are actually potato wedges. They could have called them wedges and I wouldnt make a thing of it, but dont give me wedges and tell me they are fries.

We have frequented the courier and silver creek for years. However, tonight was inexusable! A vent cover needed to be put up on the wall above our table,, while we were eating. After asking them to wait for ten minutes,, and the manager WAS willing to do this,, but, the owner WAS NOT. he came out,, insulted us, and went ahead and put up the cover.. I really did not want to have any debris fall in my food. I have never been treated so rudely in my life. I will never eat at the courier or the silver creek again and will suggest that others do the same. I would like to give a minus five star rating!

They used to be really good and really reliable. But times have changed. They have fewer items on their salad bar every time I go in, and their salad bar used to be fantastic. Yesterday I ate there, and the food was really second rate. I never saw such huge lettuce leaves in my life, carrots were dry, the goodies were missing. My pasta was totally overcooked and the tomato sauce was not good (tomatoes tasted like they came right out of the can with no real cooking), and my friends salmon was overcooked and dry. Its a real shame. Nice servers, nice atmosphere, but theyre going downhill.

Ive been here countless times and Ive never had a bad meal that I can remember. If youre visiting Urbana, I highly recommend a stop at The Courier. Their milk-shakes and burgers are great. I hear their salad bar is pretty good too. The house fries are made out of potato wedges. They changed the menu a while back so that the fries are not included with the burgers, but you should really get the fries. The "skinny dippers" (fried potato skins with cheese, bacon, and other good stuff) are my favorite appetizer.

Ill start off by saying the food was delicious and the theme of the restaurant was unique. It highlighted the history of the building and built upon that in a very delightful and fun way. Now, thats all I liked about this place. The service was absent-minded and extremely slow. I couldnt quite tell if my server was overworked or just bad at his job. That, coupled with the fact that they were out of a variety of staples like biscuits, completely turned me off of this place in the future.

The location of the store is great and it has a beautiful ceiling inside. The cute gumball machine, antique register, and exquisite menu give a great appeal. The meals were so affordable. $6 for a burger is a home run deal. The only thing I would recommend to the owners is investing in an additional entrance to break the wind when the door in opened. And for the sweet potato chips, maybe a little less cooked and a little thicker! Thank you!

Ive heard good things about this place and maybe I have bad luck but both times Ive gone my food was terrible. First I ordered fried chicken and I want even willing to eat it - it looked and tasted awful and Im not picky about fried chicken I like the reheated frozen stuff. When I complained they did refund me. The next time I went I got a very dry overcooked hamburger on a stale bun.

Good food with great service. If you are ordering soups, make sure to order a bowl rather than a cup as the price to potion ratio makes no sense to order a cup at all. Their burgers are good here, which is surprising. They are a very classic a old (historic even) place and that shows is the décor and feeling of the place. However, that also means that the menus get worn out fairly well.

Historic and quaint, the Courier Cafe is one of the oldest historic buildings in Champaign-Urbana. With great food and an efficient wait staff this is a great place to take the family or your significant other. Reasonably priced and good quality food. I recommend the chocolate milk shake after dinner. I also recommend reading the history of the building on the back of the menu.

We love going to The Courier Cafe, especially for breakfast. Their menu offers a wide variety of options at any point in the day. Some of our favorites include: blueberry pancakes, biscuits and gravy, burgers, classic Ruben, and their milkshakes. Definitely a place to check out if you are in Urbana. It can get pretty busy on weekend mornings so plan ahead.

Love coming here. Menu offers a great selection of breakfast foods and the flavors coffees are very good. Service is quick, pleasant, and knowledgable. Even when packed, youre seated in 30 min or less. The atmosphere makes you feel like your at you moms or grandmothers for breakfast. Very sweet and cozy. They bake their own breads in house!

Ive been there a few times and only 1 visit out of the 3 I had good service. They dont state anywhere on the menu the burgers automatically come out medium well which for me was disgusting. Also, I really dislike how the salad bar is a separate bill and is weighed. I may go back but not any time soon. The food is decent but not great.
