I USUALLY DONT LEAVE REVIEWS BUT I THOUGHT THIS WAS NECCESARY. FIRSTLY THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST TIME COMING TO THIS PLACE, HOWEVER I CALLED TO PLACE A ORDER FOR THE LUNCH SPECIAL WHICH IS $10 WHICH I ALREADY FEEL IS OVER PRICED FOR BASIC MEXICAN STYLED FOOD. I GET TO THE RESTURANT AND THE LADY GIVES ME A $15 TOTAL FOR A STEAK TACO, STEAK SOPA, RICE, BEANS & A DRINK. TO ME THAT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS FOR A QUICK LUNCH MEAL FOR CARRY OUT. I SIMPLY ASKED HER WHY SO MUCH BECAUSE I WAS GIVEN A $10 TOTAL OVER THE PHONE. SHE THEN PROCEEDS TO SPEAK VERY IGNORATLY CALLING OVER HER CO WORKER WHO TOOK THE ORDER, THE COWORKER THEN SAYS " YOUR LYING I DIDNT GIVE YOU THAT TOTAL AND I LET YOU KNOW STEAK WAS AN EXTRA $1 PER ITEM " NOW YOU ALL CAN UNDERSTAND MY FUSTRATION 1. YOU DONT ARGUE WITH A CUSTOMER AT ALL WHAT HAPPEND TO " THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT " 2. WHAT TYPE OF EMPLOYEE CALLS A NEW CUSTOMER A LIAR?? 3. HE DID NOT TELL ME IT WOULD BE EXTRA AND HE DID TELL ME THE ALMOST $11 TOTAL OVER THE PHONE. I THEN WALKED OUT VERY UPSET BECAUSE OF THE DISRESPCT AND I TOLDTHEM I WILL TAKE MY MONEY ELSEWHERE, THEY LET ME WALK OUT PROCEEDING TO TALK IGNORANTLY. I GOT IN THE CAR AND IMMIDIATELY CALLED AND ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A MANAGER THE SAME WOMAN I SPOKE WITH AT THE CASH REGISTER ANSWERED SAYING SHE WAS A MANAGER AND SAID " IM NOT REMAKING THE FOOD FOR IT TO BE CHEAPER FOR YOU IM NOT WASTING MY FOOD YOU CAN COME BACK IN AND GET IT OR YOU CAN LEAVE IT " AND I HUNG UP JUST IN AWE AT THE UNPROFESSIONALISM.....MORAL OF THE STORY IS THIS PLACE IS EXTREMLY IGNORANT, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND THE MANAGEMENT IS AWFUL AND FOR THE MANAGER TO LET HER EMPLOYEE SIT THERE AND CALL ME A LIAR IS EXTREMLY DISRESPECTFUL. ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MY TIME, GAS & BREAK TIME I WASTED FOR NO FOOD & SUCH A HORRIBLE EXPIERNCE. IM DISGUSTED AT HOW THEY THINK ITS OKAY TO DO BUSINESS IN SUCH A WAY, THE FOOD MAY BE GOOD " IDK " BUT ITS NOPT WORTH IT IF THEY DONT EVEN VALUE YOUR BUSINESS......MY LAWYER WILL BE CONTACTED TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I very much wanted to like this place. Growing up in Pilsen and having awesome authentic food at home has made my expectations pretty high I guess. Living in Darien, I have to say that finding good Mexican food has become quite the quest. We have tried everywhere and were hoping La Cabanita was going to be our next spot. I gave it two stars because the place was very clean and the customer service was great! Unfortantely the food was just lacking. The guacamole was good but that was literally it. My tacos Al Pastor were over seasoned and the huge pineapple chunks were not a good touch. My boyfriends arrachera (skirt steak) was small and lacking flavor. The rice was mediocre at best. My sisters enchiladas tasted like the mole came out of a can and the homemade tortillas were very thick. After paying over $75 with tip we all felt pretty disappointed. I wish you well Cabanita and hope to give you another chance in the future.

Racist!! I would never eat at this restaurant again !!!on Cinco de Mayo me my boss and coworkers came here to have drinks .within an hour of being there the waitress began to remove our drinks and food orders from the table advising us that another party was coming in at 8!!. It was only 6 pm.I have never been treated like this before in my entire life !!Ive then asked for the manager he comes over and makes things even worse !! He degraded all of us telling us that we could just leave he will pay for the entire bill????that was the most humiliating moment in my life I have also written a letter to the Better Business Bureau advising that this restaurant everyone is to be treated equally but I see now that in places like this especially La Cabinta we are still stuck in other days .

The handmade corn tortillas were excellent. The Chicken Ranchero was moist and flavorful. The Steak Taco Salad was very good. The Watermelon Martini was delicious. Our server, Luis, and overall service was excellent. Would highly recommend.

My family and friends love this place. Very authentic and fresh. I frequent this establishment and it is always consistent with quality. I highly recommend this restaurant. The service is very good too!

While in Chicago, a friend and I had dinner at La Cabanita. The food tasted very authentic and the service was excellent. This will be added to my list of great places to eat while in Chicago.

Worst Mexican food ever, hated the homemade tortillas, they were thicker than pancakes. Got sick and its so way over priced for Mexican food. Go somewhere else, youll thank me later.
