I just called to order some tacos at the Streamwood El Faros Tacos and a lady answered the phone to take my order her name was Laura I just called to find out.She was so rude that I cant believe I went through with the order after all. I only did because the tacos are so good SO FAR! She took my order she couldnt understand so much and she acted like it was my fault !!! Is it my fault they hired someone and put them in the public who cannot understand both langusges? She didnt finish my order and she hung up the phone on me ,I had to call back and ask her if she hung up on me? She said no she did not know what happened? Then I had to ask her how long til my tacos were ready and I asked her for a total and she said they were busy and hung up again. I feel real discriminated against because I am not Mexican and I feel like she only wants Mexican business there. But then again it would be ok if my kids went there right because they are 1/2 and 1/2. What a horrible way a restaurant can make you feel from a phone call LAURA

My family and I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. I had a carne asada meal. The presentation was nice vegetables fresh and rice as should look as so the beans. I would say however a little over seasoned to my taste t least, wife had a tampiquena, same as mine. However the flank steak was extremely hard almost had to swallow without chewing because it was that tuff. When waitress was told she did offered to replace with a diff meat dish, wish I took the offer and they went beyond by including a extra piece of meat. My wife decided not to since she had eaten over half of it, she did asked for a discount and waitresses she would give her one, but at the end they charged me regular price. I would not go there again because of the over priced food and quality on food is just not worth it. Oh and I did also got some kinda hair on my horchata. Somethings just not worth arguing on so I just paid and left.

My son visited EL Faro with a friend and told me about it. While home on Spring Break he invited me to try it with him. Having just relocated to Bartlett I wanted to visit and find an "Authentic Mexican" restaurant. I have eaten authentic Mexican Fish Tacos in Old Town San Diego, Carnitas plates in Mesa AZ,Huevos Rancheros in Salt Lake City UT, Soranos in Santa Ana CA, Los Sanchez in Anaheim CA and the list goes on. To say this restaurant has no flavor and is typical Tex Mex shows a lack of knowledge and understanding. This person probably thinks Barbecue is all about the Sauce and not the Smoke!!!! EL Faro ranks among the top and now is in my backyard. Thank you for authentic Horchata, Real Queso Fundido, Great recipes and a traditional Mexican flavor through and through. This California born Gringo no longer need search for a small piece of Traditional Old World flavor. Well Done EL Faro!!!

Ive been enjoying El Faro eateries for several years. They have quite a few locations but I have to admit I like this location the best! If you want authentic Mexican food go to El Faro! Hands down they cannot be beaten. The service is above average and I found my order taker for the evening was very charming. The decor has a more rustic feel to it with festive music being piped into the shop though not at a unpleasant level. The lighting was a little dim for me but not intolerable. My overall experience was a pleasant one and one I will continue to share with my friends and family for many many more times to come!

Have been going here for about 8 years. Even live 40 min away now and still make the trek every other week or so. It is the best mexican food I have tried, never had a bad thing on the menu. The chips/salsa and peppers they bring out are homemade, fresh, and delicious. Mark d. If you need another napkin then ask... they always bring out a stack when you ask. And the fajitas come out on a sizzling skillet, not sure what you mean by "rolled in paper"... maybe you had a taco, which like any authentic mexican restaurant, is wrapped in paper...

Super delicious! Homemade fresh escabeche if you ask for it. Three types of salsa too. Each time we go there is a different person making the salsa and the pico de guillo so it is always a change up when you sit down, is it the green salsa tonight or the red? Who knows but they are all awesome. I get the combo plates when I want a tamale or the enchiladas. Always good! The pork tamale has a smoky marinade that I love. The burritos/wraps are HUGE.

Not great. Typical cheap TexMex. Meat lacked any seasoning (literally), the fajitas were a mess rolled in paper, service is occasionally sloppy and slow, and to top it we were each given a single paper napkin. Really? We all know the TexMex is rather sloppy food. Save your money and head to JCs Mexican restaurant a couple miles away in downtown Bartlett. There were seven of us dining today and disappointment is what we agreed on.

Horrible!!!! These mexicans have been living in the US for to long. They dont know how to make a decent mexican meal if their lives depended on it. Open a taco bell next door and this place would go out of business.

Im shocked to see a Yelp review calling El Faro "Tex Mex." Whether you like El Faro or not, it is clearly real Mexican food. No, its not fancy, no the service isnt "the best", but the food is absolutely delicious.

Some of the best Mexican food I have found. Only places that come close are some I have had in San Diego. I now love out of State but when I visit for family I make it a point to stop in for a meal or two.
