A few years ago, my wife and I adopted a no-added-oil, vegan diet. (Yes, its a mouthful. haha) While we were pleased to discover that Indian restaurants can usually accommodate our vegan needs, we were displeased to learn that many of them serve food thats, well, swimming in oil. Back then, wed only tried a few Indian restaurants, so we kept looking, hoping that wed find one that had less oily offerings. Enter Bukharaa. We got saag chana (its not on the menu, but its basically the ubiquitous spinach and cheese dish (saag paneer) minus the cheese, add chickpeas) and baingan bartha (a tomato eggplant dish) and LOVED IT. We get those dishes every time and theyre nowhere near the dripping-with-oil stuff weve found at other Indian places. (Bear in mind that Im only reporting on their vegan offerings; weve never had any of their meat dishes, but friends who have say that they enjoyed them.) We kept trying to find other places nearer to home (we drive about a half-hour each way to go to Bukharaa), to no avail. At this point, Id say that weve probably tried 40 or 50 Indian places in GA, FL, NC, SC, WA, and MA and found only a couple (Bukharaa included, of course) to be non-oily enough for our tastes. The service is always impeccable -- I dont think our water glasses have ever gotten empty (and if our "mild+" order ventures into "medium" territory, that can be critical. :) In my initial review (Im updating this a year or so later), the only thing that I didnt like then was the loud TV. Well, someone mustve read my review because the last half-dozen or so times weve been there, the volume has been way down. Yes! :) Weve since come to enjoy the occasional side of patra (steamed taro root leaf + spicy chickpea paste) and almost always get cuchumber, a delicious onion, tomato, cucumber, cilantro, lime, salt, pepper salad. When its tomato season, the cuchumber is amazing. I could go on, but I dont want you reading when you should be driving to Bukharaa. :)

The food was excellent and the people very responsive and friendly. There is also buffet during lunch time and you can order for carry out. There were many people in the restaurant when I went there around 5:30pm on a Tuesday and i was surprised. It is a spacious place large enough for groups of people. It is clean and the interior design is more functional so if you are looking for a romatic place it is perhaps is the best choice. If you are looking for a good Indian restaurant in the "Johns creek /Duluth" area I can definitely recommand this. Without question or doubt, Bukharaas truly a terrific Indian cuisine restaurant. My 5 friends and I enjoyed every single dish that we ordered from the menu. The food was well-prepared and delicious beginning with the best "Desi wing" for appetizers to the leftovers we all had the next day. The spices and sauces are a standout for each dish. It shows that someone in the kitchen is truly experienced in making these authentic Indian dishes; no second-hand learning here. I plan to put this restaurant on monthly dinner rotation. It was just AWESOME!!!! Try the wings!!!!! Sherry and Suyash

We took a few friends and went to this restaurant on Christmas day. It was empty except for s. Food was ordered. Right from the beginning we could feel that the food may not be up to the minimum standard. Boy we were so right. Thankfully the TV stopped working as there was a snow storm (some tacky Hindi program was on when we arrived). The main menu arrived. Chicken Makhani tasted so stale that we had hard time believing the previous reviews. The rest of the food also was so so. It is generally very hard to cook bad Indian food as most of the taste is made up of curry masala. Unfortunately this restaurant is not even close to anything that is truly Indian taste. ( After receiving "best gourmet cook" award four years in a row and having traveled the world eating some of the best Indian food in the most unexpected places), this restaurant needs to work really hard if it truly wants to stay open for a long period of time.

We went to Bukharaa recently for my sisters birthday and it was truly the worst experience any one could have in a restaurant. The food was pungent and very awful. My family felt like the customer service was okay but the food was terrible. The chicken had no flavor at all and biryani was way too spicy. Even the fruit pudding tasted like it had expired. Not even one item was cooked well and did not even seem like Indian style cuisine. My father felt like throwing up after we left the restaurant. The only thing my daughter enjoyed was water with lime she put in. This is not a good place to go to with your family if you want good food with tasty flavors. It is truly a waste of money and will make you regret going out to a restaurant to eat. The good thing was that there were only three tables filled in the entire place. But now it is easy to see why since the food is horrible and leaves you with a extremely bad taste.

They say "first impression is the best impression"-This was/is the first n last order from this place... ordered To-go food, expected it to be ready at the suggested wait time on phone of 40 min. when we went to pickup the food it was not ready. The girl at bar/reception said its ready n asked if i want to go head n pay( big mistake) then another 25 min wait( they actually start makin it after you r on site) it finally arrived. Taste was subpar.Food ordered Malai kofta, paneer tikka masala n naan. Believe me if u cant cook these basic Indian dishes...time to change the chef. This one star is bcoz unlike the owner the hostess was actually apologetic about the long wait.

A very very horrible experience, I ordered large tray of Malai Kofta for a party at my home. Kofta were just boiled potatoes and no paneer and gravy was too sweet. They whole tray was left as it is. The gravy tasted horrible and not fresh. Next morning I called the manager to let him know and instead of acknowledging he was very very rude to me. His explaination was our tastes are bad and his food is perfect. Its been like this and people love it and mine and my guests tastes are bad.Can you believe it!! If had option here I would have posted the picture of the tray which was left. Please save your money and mood and do not ever try this place

this is by far the most authentic indian restaurant in atlanta. as a resident of georgia who has eaten at an indian restaurant close to 100 times, we have stopped visiting all other restaurants and are now fully faithful to this restaurant. They have the most helpful server and the manager is very friendly and even showed great concern when he learned of my mother passing. They always give us free dessert and genuinely nice people. Their garlic naan with paneer tikka masala is by far my favorite. Some days you have to be patient because they take time preparing their meals. But with the love and care they put in i dont mind at all.

Food is very good, chicken makhani, naans are v good. Only problem is they lack the staff to cook and serve the food. I only see the lady and the other guy on their website who serve the customers, I have been there more than 5 times at this restaurant and my only complain is the time it takes to serve the food. the average time was 30-45 mins and we just keep filling on papads. This wait is rediculous , they have to improve on this.. the lady gives some lame excuse when sked why it takes so long.. but any ways, as long as the food is good, i will keep visiting this palce..
