First, it gets a star because we were generally happy with all of the food. We stood in the entrance awkwardly until a server came over without greeting us and told us to sit anywhere. My friend ordered the shrimp special and i had the mango snapper special. After the server coldly took our order, we didnt see her again because she was hanging out with the regulars at the bar and other tables. A friendly person brought us our food. We loved the rolls and asked for more after we saw the original server drop a big overflowing basket of rolls to another table of 2. The friendly lady hesitated and politely said sure and brought us a basket with 2 rolls. The original server had an attitude the entire time with us and wouldnt look at us as she came to take payment. She was jovial with everyone else. At first my friend thought that the server only spoke to me because im white and the server wouldnt talk to her/make eye-contact because my friend is african-american. But after reading the other review, were not sure if this unacceptable behavior is bestowed upon all non-regulars. We really wanted to write a positive review but felt uncomfortable the whole time, and the confederate flag license plate displayed on the wall as part of the "decor" didnt help. Welcome to stone mountain.

Weve recently moved in the area and are having a blast discovering the hidden treasures of Stone Mountain. Wells Cargo Cafe is difficult to see from the outside but once in, your in a very dim atmosphere with a fire place and a candle is brought to your table by one of the owner. The decoration is old country antiques style. Apparently, theyre open in the evenings from Wednesday to Saturday nights. They have a menu with usual American food like burgers and sandwiches. They also have a large selection of daily specials. My friend had the salmon and was very happy with it. My husband got an amazing chicken Parmesan (his words). I got the BEST garlic shrimp pasta EVER. All our plates were very good, fresh and well served. The price was about $15 a plate but the burgers or things like that were half that price. We were curious and got a slice of home made chocolate cake. Because we were so full we had it to go. Later that night we ate it and it was a delight. Wells Cargo Cafe is truly a local gem.

Upon entering the restaurant my husband and I stood awkwardly in the entrance, unsure if we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. After a couple of minutes we just took a table and waited for someone to greet us. The waitress came over and presented us with menus and a chalkboard menu with the specials on it and took our drink order. I had the garlic shrimp pasta and my husband had a burger (after we were told they were out of the special he wanted.) Neither of us were particularly impressed with the food or with the waitress. She seemed cold and uninterested in us and spent much more time on the regulars. The decor is nice. The tables and chairs are all hodgepodge from different sets and there are antique items scattered around. All together, it was a slightly uncomfortable feeling as we felt like outsiders intruding on a place where only the regulars are welcome.

The home made food is divine. Never a meal that is not completely delicious and a cozy fun and unique atmosphere. A great gem in the heart of Stone Mountain Village. Dont miss this one - Wed - Sat eves. 5:30 pm - 9 pm (dont quote me! but double check!)

Charming, down home little spot with amazing food. I always search for local favorite restaurants when traveling and this one did not disappoint. It was a diamond in the rough (I almost did not find it) on main street.

Out standing meal.. Chicken Parma with a slightly sweet mushroom sauce, fresh squash and brussel sprouts. And a Goose Island IPA to wash it down. We will go back..!
