My boyfriend and I were travelling in the Stone Mountain area for a long weekend and decided to do some exploring and Geocaching in the downtown area of Stone Mountain Village. It was around lunchtime on Monday that we happened upon the cafe and decided to head in for lunch. We were greeted promptly by a friendly gentleman who offered the two of us a table in the room to the left. The waitress was prompt and very friendly when greeting us. We ordered sweet iced tea and fried green tomatoes, the waitress explained that the fried green tomatoes are one of the house specialties. She wasnt kidding! The fried green tomatoes were thin and crispy and had a vinegary sweet sauce with black eyed peas and corn and other small minced vegetables as sort of a relish over top of them and they were absolutely incredible! I had a turkey panini with the sweet potato salad. The sweet potato salad as explained to us is like normal potato salad but with sweet potatoes and place of the regular white potatoes, it was tasty and refreshing on a hot day and the Panini was just fine. My boyfriend had a brisket sandwich and he reported that it was exceptionally tasty and the sweet potato french fries that came with it were awesome. While we were having lunch a number of other people came in to the room we were saddened and other spots in the restaurant and the conversations overheard made it sound like they were frequent customers, the waitress knew their order before she even came up to their table. This is a Hidden Gem on a side street in a sleepy tourist area that if I were nearby on a regular basis I would absolutely be going to. The shabby chic sort of Decor in the cute little Craftsman style home converted into a restaurant is very welcoming, looks like it would be a great place for a dinner date, the staff is extraordinarily attentive and friendly but not obtrusive, the prices are good.

Unimpressed with the rude waitress who wore a black do-rag, fake eyelashes and pink shirt. She is always rolling her eyes and/or having something snarky to say, even with me being a loyal customer. Today I placed a reservation for the brunch and she made me it seem like there was an issue calling to reserve a table, despite the Sweet Potato Cafes (SPCs) Facebook post, suggesting for people to make reservations. There have been multiple occasions when I called to place to-go orders or stopped in to order food, and she has given me an attitude for no reason at all. Melissa, Brittany and the son are always welcoming servers with pleasant demeanors. With the loyalty I tried to contribute to this black-owned business, I would have expected more respect. I even recommended this restaurant to friends and family, trying to spread the word. I no longer will do this after todays experience at the Fathers Day Brunch. I brought in a few family members to the restaurant. The womans attitude stood out so much to them, they commented on it to me. I was embarrassed because I try to speak so highly of SPC. Both the owner and the husband are sweet people. The food is excellent, but after the numerous encounters with that one waitress, it puts such a sour taste in my mouth that I prefer not to come back into the restaurant again. Even though the owners appreciate return customers, apparently some of the staff does not.

I was there Saturday evening with a party of 11. We made a reservation for a party of 8. It took over an hour for our food to come out. Our server was the worst I have ever experienced. She never refilled our water glasses and she never came to let us know that it would take THIS long for the food to come out. When I asked her about it, she proceeds to complain about us not making a reservation for 11 (we made it for 8 ). Why would she complain about us bringing MORE business? All she had to do was offer an apology for our wait - not act like it was OUR fault for them being slow). The people behind us came right after us and were halfway done with their meals at this point. Then when my food comes out, it is disgusting. The cornbread tasted like it was rotten and the sweet potato shepherds pie tasted like the sweet potatoes were canned and mixed with some cheap seasoning mix. It did NOT taste like sweet potatoes. The meat tasted like it was poor quality. When I told our server, she was non-responsive and seemed to threaten that if I didnt give her a good *reason* the food was bad, she wouldnt take it off. She did end up taking it off, but she never told us that she did. That night, I messaged the restaurant and NEVER got a response. Unprofessional and disgusting. I have no idea how they stay in business...

This place was located in what appeared to be a neighborhood in Stone mountain village. It has a very cozy feel inside and looks like a large house as other reviewers mentioned. My friend and I met there for brunch, she ordered the brunch buffet and really enjoyed the sweet potato pancakes. I tried one of the pancakes and they were very good, they came with what tasted like a dollop of cinnamon butter on top and I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that there was a warm souflee-like sweet potato filling inside of the pancake. The filling added an extra dimension that pancakes in general are usually missing. At roughly $17 for the buffet however my friend expressed the fact that she wished she couldve just ordered the potatoes a la carte because the majority of the buffet seemed over priced. As for my meal, I ordered the special of sweet potato shrimp and grits. They were trying out a recipe for a competition. It was a little spicy, however overall I was surprised how well the flavors actually paired. I also had a side of scrambled eggs, they were just basic eggs but for under $10 Id say it was worth the price and Id like to return for the pancakes at least.

Very disappointing!!! Cute little restaurant that came highly recommended by the owner of the Inn we were staying at. They serve all day long but when we got there at 4:30 pm they would not take a dinner order until after 5 pm. They talked us into an appetizer that we really didnt want. We only wanted dinner! The waitress came back to take our dinner order at 5. Now this is the part that was truly disappointing. My husband ordered a $17.00 pork chop. We were expecting to see a large juicy pork chop for the price. It was a tiny, dried up piece of meat!!! DISGUSTING!!! I ordered stuffed chicken. It was just as DISGUSTING! It was so dried up and tough. No way it was cooked fresh! This was something warmed up from sometime prior to that day. Our check was $50.00 and ranks up there with one of the worst meals weve had. I don t mind paying that price if the food was good. I usually only give comments on businesses if I have something good to say but in this case I thought others should know our experience. We would never go back and definitely not recommend to others.
