This restaurant was a big disappointment. We went there for a family dinner with my fiancees family and I have to say it bad on all fronts. I ordered a strawberry margarita and was brought a strawberry daiquiri which was dumb but alright. We were sat outside to begin with but we requested inside because our granddad was hot and we didnt want him to be uncomfortable. So instead of giving us an appropriate table they had 6 of us squeeze into a booth meant for 4. Mine and my fiancees butts were hanging off the end. It wasnt much cooler inside and there were flies buzzing around and landing on our food the entire time. I ordered a salad with "cilantro lime vinaigrette" which tasted nothing like lime or cilantro. It tasted like the dried herb flecked corn syrup that charades as italian dressing from Sysco. All of the food was pretty abysmal except the restaurants name sake the "fish tails" which are actually fried grouper. Those were ok, but the fish tacos were inedible. I get that its convenient for people out at the lake, but this was a horrible dining experience and we definitely will not be back. YUCK.

Cons: -Long waits. We had to come at 3p just to avoid the sometimes hours-long wait to get a table. -side salad is pretty sparse, nothing that appetizing about it. Just iceberg dregs and some paltry, subpar toppings. -expensive! Wow. $16 for three tacos! -tacos (blackened fish) were pretty dry, not the best quality but Ive learned to lower my standards for fish in tacos. The boom boom sauce didnt do much to help that, and it was already laid on pretty heavily so I really wouldnt have wanted any more. Pros: -once I put the rice and beans (side) and a squirt of lemon on the tacos they were pretty great. Definitely mix the sides into the tacos if you think it might work. -service was good, very quick. Really would have given it 3.5 stars given everything, but I cant argue with the enjoyable results I got after adding the fixins into my tacos... And no half star options on Google. This place is always busy! Get there early or during off hours.

Well start with the positive...great location right by the marina overlooking the docks and boats. The service was good and staff was friendly on Saturday night 6/28/14. On to the review, the food was not good at all. Lettuce was old; cold slaw had old yellow chunks of cabbage, bread on sandwiches was not fresh. We ordered fish tacos that were supposed to be blackened but what little fish was in the tortilla was minced up, crumbly and white with very little flavor. We sampled the food on our children plates; the fried chicken was soft, damp and not crispy. Prices are not cheap but given the location we wouldnt mind paying a higher price if the food was good. I hope the owner reads this review and gets a tighter control over the food quality coming out of the kitchen, we really want to find a good restaurant right on the water at Lake Lanier but Fish Tales isnt it, alas...the search continues.

45 minutes to get our food because of another party of 10 ?? What does another party have to do with my food getting out in a reasonable amount of time ? Nothing ! There are so many seats in the place and so many tables. Just because the tables are slid together , that means other customers have to wait for their food till the 10 person party is served ? That excuse doesnt fly with me,, not at these prices. If you dont have enough cooks to fill orders,, hire more. There were so many waitress ,, they were tripping over each other. Next time, well have to stick with the other place thats tucked in a little cove. Its not as pretty and there isnt a sandbox,, but itll still be there when Fish Tales is closed and gone. We brought some clients for supper,,, wont be back.

First time eating here and I have to say Im very pleased with the customer service and food here! When you walk in it reminds me very much of the Third Coast Grille layout but on a smaller scale. Very Key West looking by the dock!!! For the food, I ordered the Mahi Mahi sandwich and husband had the shrimp basket and the food was hot and fresh. I could only eat half of my giant sandwich and some rice and plaintains. Also ordered the Vidalia Onion appetizers and gulp these were gone too!!! Had a craving for Virgin Strawberry Pina Cola and drank it til glass was empty which is very very rare for me! We will definately return!!! And dont forget to buy a Fish Tales t-shirt!!!! Wore it the next day and it was comfortable fit!!! Loved it!!!

I have been to Fish Tales various times but the one day I decide to take my fiancee to show it off. Is the one day that everything went wrong. It took 15 minutes, I kid you not, to get our water with lime. The waitress was short with us the whole time, which normally I would let it go but this was throughout the whole dining experience. The Gulf Mix that I got was super cold, and I could defiantly tell the popcorn shrimp was frozen and not made in house (the fried plantain was on point though). My fiancés food looked like everything had just been thrown onto the plate. The bathrooms were not terrible but QuikTrip bathrooms were cleaner then the bathrooms here. I was embarrassed to take my fiancé here.

Amazing food and great atmosphere! If you remember this place from years ago, it is well worth it to pay another visit. They have since had a huge face-lift and now have tons of outdoor, shaded seating with a great view of the cove. The best thing on the menu has got to be the fish tales. These savory grouper fingers are served piping hot with a delicious sauce and they really do melt in your mouth. I suggest anyone who visits tries these AT LEAST! Their sandwiches are notable for lunch and for dinner, dive into their surf n turf or another seafood platter. You wont be disappointed!

I thought the food was great. Priced decent considering it is on the lake. The waitress was horrible and therefore made the experience not so great. I will go back but if she is my waitress again I will ask for a different one. Slow to come to table, slow to bring drinks. I dont think she even came by after we got our food and when I asked for the check it was another 10 minutes for that and about 15-20 more minutes to return after I gave her my card. She sucked to say the least. I still left a little more than 20% so I guess she will never know how bad she is at waiting on tables.

Before I start this review, I want to make something clear. This review is for our dinner tonight only. We have eaten here several times before and were quite pleased with the food and service. Unfortunately our waitress Amy was not up to the task. It took forever to get the food and when it came it was cold Amy put in my wifes order as a lunch so see got half the fish she should have. When we mentioned the portion size, Amy laughed and walked away. Hopefully when we return the grille will be back to its four star rating that we have enjoyed in the past.
