The food was good, BUT, I went in to order from the menu to go, but in the meantime wanted a glass of wine while I waited. Heres the thing I found to be upsetting, as soon as a waiter approached me to ask what I would like to order, I said I would be ordering to go but...HE never let me finish my sentence and took off! I flagged another one, and HE did the same thing! Completely left me mid-sentence. They were all gathered in the front discussing how none of them were going to take my order in Spanish (which I understand 100%). If they only knew that I always tip for the entire cost of the meal to-go plus the glass of wine I wanted while I waited, they wouldnt have been so quick to just leave me there sitting uncomfortable and embarrassed. Finally the manager came over and took my order. Needless to say, though I liked the food very much, I am not encouraged to return because of the bad manners of the service personnel. The 3 starts were for the food, but 0 stars for the service.

Years ago, my wife and I loved to eat at this place. We moved away and have not visited until recently. We were in the mood for some "authentic" Mexican food, so I drove over (about 20 minutes) to grab some carry-out. I ordered a seemingly simple order for us...a combo which was supposed to have 1 burrito, 1 enchilada, and 1 taco, all beef. My wife ordered a 2 burrito combo, both beef, with rice and black beans. When I got home with the order, we discovered that the taco was missing from my combo, and they gave my wife refried beans instead of black beans. I called and spoke to the manager who was apologetic and promised that he would make it right on our next visit. We later noticed (after the restaurant was closed) that her burrito was a black bean burrito instead of beef. I am wondering if we should give them a chance to make things right, or just cut our losses and never go back.

I have been coming here a long time. My family eats here regularly as a family night out on Thursdays. This is the go-to Mexican for them. I have always enjoyed coming here. I always see the same wait staff, and they are all.professional. When they are not busy, all of the food comes out at a good time. The owner is usually there on the busy nights, and she comes around to make sure everybody is taken care of and assisted. The only reason I dont give it 5 stars is because I think that you dont get as much food as you think you are paying for. It is usually $10 for a combination meal at any Mexican place, which is more than reasonable. Here, however, the burrito looks like the size of a mini churro. And you are still paying just as much for something mediocre. If you want good food for what you pay for, order the burrito grande.

Ah, the joys of El Rio. Food is awesome, service is great. Atmosphere? Well... Seriously, this is my kind of Mexican joint. My most recent experience was a week ago, and they did a great job as always.I suggest you try their chicken soup for lunch. Lots of chunks of chicken in a clear broth, served up with fresh cilantro, fresh tomato and fresh sweet union and rice... yum. Avocado served on the side and life is good. My wife loves the "Texas Fajita Nachos, Half Order" which are grilled steak, chicken and shrimp on a plate with Mex cheese over nachos-- she has them leave off the onions. Great stuff. If youre looking for slick atmosphere and a mariachi band, this aint your place. But for great food, great service and FAST turnaround, aint no place better.

Came in at 9:15 tonight. They say us at a table and never came back for a drink order. Never brought chips. Nothing. Most of the staff was sitting at the bar and a nearby booth. After 10 minutes, we got up and walked out. No one even cared. Im writing this review as I sit and Los Rios right afterwards. We have been here 2 minutes and 14 seconds and we already have all our drinks, cheese dip, chips, and have ordered our food. And they are packed. No wonder Los Rios won Best Mexican Restaurant in Forsyth 2017. What a shame. The old El Rio had way better service. Now it is awful.

I was skeptical about going here at first because of the reviews. But I guess since they are under new management this place is definitely awesome. Old school Mexican food and awesome Margaritas! All the other Mexican restaurants around Cumming GA are even close to this place. Try the Mexican Guacamole dip it is awesome along with the Texas margarita. We are definitely coming back to sit out on the patio again.

Been coming here all my life and today marks the last time I will visit El Rio in Cumming. My chalupa had a funky smell to it and tasted like rotten tomatoes. I told my server something was wrong with it and the owner came out with a container of tomatoes to show me I was wrong. And that his tomatoes werent bad. Ummmm deuces.. Ill go to Dawsonville if I want El Rio again.

One of our favorite restaurant in Cumming. Reasonably priced amazing food. I love the orange hot sauce they give you if you ask for it. Their menu is pretty good and have a lot of items you will not find in many other mexican restaurants. Staff is nice and Magarittas do their magic. This has become our place to go to when it comes to Mexican food

This place is awesome!! The food is soooo good and the staff is very hardworking!! Ive never felt more at home than when I ate at El Rio. Im already looking forward to my next visit and to be honest I never write reviews on places Ive eaten at but after going here I felt like I needed to. I urge people try it and enjoy it in all its splendor.

As a local, go to Los Rios instead. The people who own Los Rios worked for El Rio back when it was still good. Ive tried it since the new management took over and wasnt impressed. Also hate what theyve done with the place. I remember eating there over 20 years ago. If you didnt grow up on the original El Rio, you might like it.

We just moved to the area and this place has quickly become our go to Mexican restaurant!!! The margaritas are amazing and strong. The service is great every time. And we have yet to be disappointed by the food with everything from taquitos to fajitas and more!! Love love love this place!!!!

I came in at lunch to an almost empty restaurant, me and my friend were promptly seated, served quickly, and received our food much more quickly than I had thought! The food was great, our server was very respectful, and professional!
