We, group of 6 have visited this restaurant yesterday (22nd Jul 2015) after some of our friends had suggested about this restaurant. We have ordered “Dosa night“ i.e. Unlimited dosa for 9.99$. But in the end we had some bad experience in this restaurant. We have reached the restaurant at 8.30 PM. We were in the restaurant from 8.30 to 10.10 PM. They are having table token/number system. Every time we have to go to them and order. I don’t know who suggested this kind of idea for them... LOL... We got table #15. We were there in the restaurant 1 hour and 40 minutes and we got only 2 dosa. You will receive your first dosa very quickly after that they will show their true face. For the next dosa you have to wait at least 30 minutes. They won’t care about you after you got your first dosa and they will concentrate on those who are coming as new or ‘order and eat’ The first dosa is really nice and after waiting almost 35 minutes, we got our second dosa, but that is not even cooked well. Pros: 1. The food taste is really good (First dosa only really good, the second one is not cooked well). 2. Nominal price (9.99$ for dosa night) Cons: 1. First time I have seen flies in this restaurant only in USA. 2. Tables were not at all clean and the trash can was overflowed. 3. There were no tissues in wash basin and restrooms. 4. You have to wait at least 30 minutes for your dosa if you are going for buffet but you will get your item quickly if you choose order and eat. 5. There is no waiting area at front. We have to stand outside if crowd is high. If you have more patience you can go to this restaurant. I will never ever suggest this one to my friends.. The one star is for the taste and the price. Initially I gave 1 star for my worst experience and after that i went there for Saturdays lunch... and it was awesome and theres a lot of improvement.. So changing my rating from 1 -> 4 :)

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to and for sure the best in and around Alpharetta. The food is so delicious that it reminded me the good old days spent in India. The taste is very authentic and I have never experienced it anywhere else in the US. The only place that has satisfied my cravings for Indian food. Busy on the weekends, but the wait is totally worth it. The service is excellent and the staff is super friendly. They take care of customers even when the restaurant is very busy. I heard that their catering service is quiet remarkable as well. I definitely recommend chennai express and trust me you are missing a lot of you havent been to this place yet.

People like happy endings so I start with Cons. Wait... wait.. wait... until you feel why the heck you decided the Dosa night(unlimited time waste for $9.99 but you wont have patience to have more than 1 dosa). The layout is very clumsy you may run into someone and token system is mind boggling. Overwhelming/unexpected innocent crowd(though they will be disappointed in few mins) strikes the quality out. I swear i wont go again Pros: Few items and sides are tasty, cost is moderate and its a good try from owners perspective to attract crowd at cost of quality Some people might have had good experience but unfortunately I wasnt that one.

Worst restraunt ever!! We ordered chole bhature, papadi chaat, baby corn manchuria, and hakka noodles and not one of them tasted good. Ive no idea what idiotic place they got the recepie for the papadi chaat from but the chef has clearly never had tasted GOOD chaat. Hey chef, go have some at Gokul, youll get there...or maybe not, because you seriously lack taste. The bhature was not cooked and the baby corn manchuria was just fried corn in ketchup. I have the pictures to prove it. If you have good taste, avoid this place.

Best Indian Vegetarian restaurant in Alpharetta. I tried their Dosa, chutneyand sambar and it is awesome. Ive been to this restaurant many times and had Thali (Meals) most of the time because they had different currys on every day menu. Also had Idiyappam, Aappam, Kothuparotta, podi idly and it is so Delicious. The guy at the Front desk knows what he is doing. Thanks for bringing south Indian food to Alpharetta.

We went for Wednesday buffet , the hall has no AC and no one is there to receive the customers. Finally after 5 mins one guy came and ask us to wait . There are empty seats but the table is filled with unfinished plates and no one is there to clean. There was one guy roaming here and there but nothing happened , after 15 mins we left the hotel and found a better place. No respect for the customers .

Authentic South Indian Cuisine along with considerably good number of options in North Indian food. Easily one of the few places in Atlanta with the largest number of varieties in Dosa. Chilli Parota, an item quite uncommon in restaurants in the states, is a must try. Little effort in improving the ambiance and space can attract more crowd in here. I would definitely want to visit again.

Great food!!! The staff was so helpful making suggestions and explaining the menu. The American Cheese Dosa was absolutely delicious. And the Chole Bhature was so tasty I couldnt wait to order it again just 3 days later. If you want ambiance, go somewhere else. If you want great vegetarian South Indian food, go nowhere else. Just walk in, smell the spices and enjoy a wonderful meal.

I love the kottu parta, podi idly and obviously the dosas. Sambar is top class. I enjoy myself when i go there. I could say i have tried all the items which they have it. NO complains at all. Buffet is another feast. Should also appreciate Arun & Murugesh for the hospitaility.

This is by far the best vegetarian Indian restaurant I have ever been to. Their flavors are authentic and spicy enough to keep your taste buds charged. For the price and the amount of food you can get in buffet beats even the best food chains. Highly recommended!

Kothu parota was good and other food I tried so far tasted authentic. Of course I ordered only South Indian dishes so far and thats what they are known for. I definitely recommend this place. Could give 5 star if they improve the service and restaurant ambience!

If you opt for food delivery from this restaurant , its better to have your options open. They deliver only if they feel like delivering(they wont even inform you that they are not delivering). The quality of food is not recommended as well!

Chennai Express was ok.Food was not tasty and exquisite at all.Everything has a distict taste of onions and oil.But if you are looking for a quick thing to eat and leave then it is good for you.I would not recomend this restraunt.
