i am not sure what happened to my favorite spot to eat in Tampa. I think there was a change in management or it was sold. i went in today with a group of coworkers as we always do 3 or 4 times a week and the place felt dead. the music was not the same alive music they are playing and none of the regular friendly staff was there except for the friendly server we always get. when i got to the counter to order we were met by an older lady with the meanest mug as if we were there to bother her. didnt even say hi or addressed us. the food lacks the same kick that normally has and its why i think there was a change in ownership. I am sad to see one of my favorites spots in Florida with such a negative change. the lady at the register although she was mild temper and didnt see put off she didnt offer that welcoming feeling you always got when you visited this place. Sad to say neither myself or my coworkers will be returning to this place that we loved for so long.

Yes its as good as all the reviews say. The mangu is delicious and something new to me. At first I wasnt so sure about what I was eating but after a few bites I was completely hooked. Ive never had Dominican food before so the ordering process at the cafe styled food bar was a bit confusing to me.. Yelp definitely helps because of the photos so that I dont take up to much time asking questions. I constantly drive by craving more. This place is somewhat deceiving from the outside. You would never even know it was a restaurant since it sits next to a granite shop.. But I guess all great hidden Tampa gems are next to a granite shop (Loli Tacos) This is a must try if youve never tried Dominican and want something different

Great little unassuming place (next to the Hertz). I went because someone at work recommended it and I wasnt disappointed! They have a great rotating selection of Dominican food and are more than happy to talk newbies (like me!) through the options. You can get rice and 1 main for about $10 with tip, but the portions arent small as you can see! They take credit/debit cards as well so no issues if you dont have cash on you. Cant wait to head there again for lunch!

First the food was just O.K. The flavors were fine but OX tails were meatless and small. For $9.00 I was given 4 tiny OX trails a 1/8 cup beans and a bunch of rice. I also purchased a meat pie. The pie was bland and greasy. There is no value at this place nearby are either Palm River Cafe or Liboris canteen which serve the same fare with more generous portions and cheaper prices. Restaurant owners please see what you competition is doing if you want to succeed.

Amazing place. I had them cater my daughters baby shower, the food was amazing and the price was very reasonable. Dont miss out on the cakes! There were two cakes for the shower, one from Mangu and the other from another location...the Mangu cake was gone quickly while no one touched the other :) Great people, friendly atmosphere, cant say enough good things about this place.

I am a born an raised Dominican and I can say that this place brings me back to my roots. Everything on the menu, even though it changes every day, is incredibly delicious. There arent enough words to describe the flavors that come from their kitchen. The host is very friendly and courteous. I would recommend this place to everyone.

They make the best mangu Ive had in Tampa. Los jugos naturales también son sabroso. Definitely check it out for some authentic Dominican cuisine

Delicious Spanish food and the portions are huge. It was previously named Mangu Latin Cafe but now it is Tropical Cuisine. Cafeteria style setup but you can also order specific dishes. The mangu was on the oily side and the drink were a bit warm but great tasting and clean establishment. Great for a quick lunch.

Just spent 6 months traveling through South and Central America. Such a treat to find a REAL latin style cafe here in Tampa. I had the 2 eggs breakfast w/ bacon and my buddy got the Mangu bowl. Plus the proprietor was a really nice guy, which makes or breaks it in small cafes like this. Definitely will be back.

Gave me food poisoning and the owner is a complete B word. She was screaming at people trying to park, theres no signs anywhere saying where to park and the owners were constantly screaming at people parking in "her spots" that werent eating there. It made me uncomfortable, I will NOT be returning

Took my family to Mangu Latin Cafe for Mofongo and WOW!! I would rate this 10 stars if it was available. Everything was delicious. Nice small but clean place. Great staff & cook. If you get the monfongo ask for their garlic sauce to pour on it. Keep up the great job! I will definitely be going back.

One of the best spanish restaurants in town. Food is amazing, prices are even better. Met the owner and we exchanged some admiration towards each other as we are both small business owners. Please support this business as it is doing exactly what the American dream entails.

Excellent food all the way around. The pork is my favorite. Lots of food, enough to share for two and less than 10 dollars typically for one meal!
