We had a craving for Mexican food but did not want to travel too far so we decided to try out this place. I always had passed by it and wondered. We were pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality of food. I had the chicken taco dinner and my fiance has the carnitas burrito dinner. Everything tasted freshly made, the carnitas burrito was tender and the meat just melted in your mouth. The chicken tacos were great too. We showed up 30 minutes before close time on a Monday so we were not sure if they would serve us but they did. We have decided that this is our new go-to Mexican place. Food was great, service was fast and the price was right.

We had been going to this local restaurant an average of twice a month for the past 2 years until about 6 months ago. They had a significant increase in price- eg. fajitas for 2 that used to cost $18 now cost $24, they have reduced portions and guacamole is now extra. The quality of the food has also deteriorated- the steak fajitas the last couple of times we have gone have been way overcooked and too tough to chew. Had to wait 40 minutes for our meal tonight. Sorry to have to cross this previous favorite off our list from now on.

Pretty solid. In between quality/good street tacos and higher-end Mexican chain. Rice and refried beans were decent--not amazing, but better than average. Carne asada and carnitas tacos were tasty. I would definitely go again. Good free salsa and chips at beginning. I went at peak lunch hour and still got a table within 3 mins, and had my food in 5-6 minutes. Impressive. Lunch menu choices are reasonable...I had 4 quality tacos with two sides of rice and beans with each--about $17 (about $8.50/lunch). Courteous and quick wait staff.

i have a chihuahua at home so i of course had to eat here. i love the chihuahua decorations they have everywhere they serve your chips in a dog bowl for the theme. its corny fun but it makes it interesting to eat there, its not just your typical resturant. the food tastes more home made with actual flavor rather than just a mass produced unfreeze then reheat kinda mexican meal that ive experienced at other places around here. i would suggest this place to anyone. in fact im going there today for lunch for my birthday. :)

Very very disappointing after all the good things I heard. The chili relleno center looks like a dry piece of tofu . The guacamole and salsa are loaded with so much Cilantro that is all you taste. now on to the tamales... I wish they had a 0 star rating. after living in Texas for a couple years I would have to say they are nowhere near to par. The masa is too thick and dry as can be. my dog would not even eat it after I offered it to her.. I would highly recommend against this place for food.

Best Local Mexican in all of Tampa. I love that this is a local spot in S Tampa and has a great family feel! Amazing food, top of the list would be their spicy chips and salsa, the chimichanga is smothered with queso blanco and tasty rice and beans. My personal favorite would be the fish tacos. Wow, they are crispy and so much delicious flavor. This is a must if you are in the mood for yummy authentic Mexican food with great friendly service.

My family and I have been twice now since we moved into the area. Both times have been unimpressive. The queso lacked flavor and needed help from the salsa(which was about the only good thing) We have had: Taco Salad, Burrito, Quesadillas and more. Nothing was very good at all. In addition the service was also just okay. They did not seem excited to be there. Please note that we did go during slower times, typically around 5pm

Ive tried them three times but VERY poor service...never check to see if the food is okay (last time my burrito was cold inside) and they ignore empty beverage glass set at the side of the table....all three times I had to get up and find someone to refill my ice water. Im 61 and have stiffed a server twice my whole life....second time was here...my server UTTERLY ignored me, focused ONLY on new people being seated.

3 stars may be harsh as I liked it and will move it into the dinner rotation. The chimichanga and taco salad we had were pretty good, Id mix it up and go for tacos next time. The steak was seasoned better than I expected. Chips and salsa were good, food came out fast, food was cheap, and inside the decor is fun. I heard lunch gets super busy, weeknight wasnt so bad and we we got seated right away.

The food was okay. Ive definitely had better Mexican food elsewhere in Tampa, so when I saw the prices I was a little shocked. From a food-cost standpoint Mexican food is relatively cheap to make and the high prices at Chihuahua just arent warranted. Overall, pretty good Mexican food if you dont mind paying a lot.

I just love the unique decor and atmosphere of this small, very friendly place. The Chihuahua theme is so fun. Very nice service. Good food and prices. Im planning on taking my little boy here on our upcoming trip to Tampa. Definitely a fun place to take kids when you are shopping in this area. Neat shops nearby.

There was a bit of a wait for our party of 13 to be sat. Much less then I would have expected for 6pm on a Friday. The food was amazing, the service was top notch. Had a family run, hole in the stripmall feel. We were all very happy with our meals and i personally will be looking to make this a regular stop.

By far the worst food I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. Not only did they wait on people who came in after us first, they also served most of our food luke warm. I would never recommend Chihuahuas to anyone! Not to mention we both got really sick afterwards.

Possibly my favorite Mexican restaurant in Tampa. Staff is friendly and I appreciate the kitsch factor of serving tortilla chips out of dog bowls. Havent ever been disappointed with any of my food choices. A bit small on the inside so it can be a bit stuffed when busy.

The lady that greets customers is amazingly rude. Empty tables everywhere that needed cleaning, but she was more than content to let us wait and ultimately leave. It has been this way several times with us. Try Miguels. Way better experience all around.

I really like the food here. The enchiladas (chicken) were great! The soup also looked really good, but I did not have a chance to try it yet. Staff was friendly. Temperature of the establishment was comfortable. Ill be coming back here soon.

This is the only Mexican place I know to go to. But its also really good. I cant pretend to be a Mexican food connoisseur, but I know that this is delicious food. The staff is friendly, the place is casual, and the food is great.
