BAD FOOD, BAD SERVICE and OVER CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD!!! I came here for the first and last time on a Friday night at the suggestion of a couple friends. We sat at the bar where we planned to have drinks and dinner. I was surprised at how empty the restaurant was for a Friday night. That should have been a sign of what was to come. Our bartender was very slow and very forgetful, and seemed to blame everyone else for her mistakes. I was willing to overlook that, as I was enjoying time with my friends and wasn’t in a rush. Dinner came and I was excited to try what looked to be a delicious pork burrito dinner. Sadly, I was greatly disappointed. After about 3 bites I started feeling a little nauseas. There was so much salt in the sauce that I couldn’t eat it. This was NOT good Mexican food by any stretch of the imagination. I’m originally from Southern California, so I kinda know what Mexican food should taste like. Unfortunately I was not the only one whose food wasn’t up to par. One of my friends ordered a taco and enchilada. Her taco shell was so stale she couldn’t bite into it and her enchilada had the same overly salty sauce as my burrito. Not wanting to embarrass our other friends, we decided to cut our losses and just asked for our check. My friend and I had a Groupon and asked the bartender to split the difference between 2 credit cards. This is where the fun really starts! Two days later I was reviewing my bank account a noticed that I had been over charged on my card. My friend was over charged as well. I called the restaurant to speak with a manager and was told there was no manager on duty. I asked when a manager would be in and was told they did not know when a manager would be in. The young man that I was speaking to then offered to check the credit card charges from Friday night and see if it was just a mistake. He called me back a couple hours later and told me that they had no signed copies of our credit card receipts. He offered to give me a free meal and to have the bartender refund my tip from her own pocket. I told him the food was not good and the service was even worse. I explained to him that the bartender was over charging customers, pocketing the money and throwing away the credit card receipts to cover her trail. I asked again to speak with a manager and was told there wouldn’t be a manager coming in. He told me he would call the owner and explain the situation and have them call me back. It has now been 3 days and I have heard nothing. I will be going into the restaurant tonight after work to get this taken care of. It’s not the money now, it’s the principal. It’s a shame that the owner couldn’t step up and make this right without wasting more of my time. I will post an update to the situation once I have more.

Great Food but need better service. I went about 230 on a Friday. There were only 4 tables of people and we were all in one section right next to each other. We walked in and nobody at front desk. We waited few minutes and waiter finally comes over to us and asked do you want a table or booth. We stated booth so he said I will give you this one which was dirty. He quickly took dirty dishes and sprayed and wiped down part of the table. There were 2 little plates and I handed them to waiter. He didnt want to take them, he stated we keep those on the table. I said Im not using them, they are dirty. He finally took them. We get our drinks few minutes later and glasses were dirty. I didnt notice until I drank half the tea (which was great). My husband said look at these glasses. He wiped some residue off glasses and something black. The waiter came back after about 5 minutes brought us chips and salsa and took off. He took order few minutes later. Food came quickly but was brought to us by a woman in the back. We didnt see our waiter for a while. The waitress that was work other table next to ours asked me if everything okay. I said out loud to my husband. I just want to pay and leave. The lady at table next to ours said..yeah they keep disappearing. I didnt get my tortillas with my fajitas. I had to wait and eat and by the time they got them to me, my food was cold. Waiter finally brings us bill after we were waiting for over 10 minutes. He didnt even ask if I wanted anything else. I had the Juan plate with picadillo (shredded beef) enchilada and picadillo crispy taco with side of refried beans and mexican rice. Rice on dry side but beans and enchilada were amazing. My husband has just cheese enchiladas on juan plate. Im from Texas and so far this is the best Tex-Mex Mexican food that I have had in Tampa. I normally wouldnt have tried this place but they had a special on groupon. Even though service sucked, I will probably go again.

Ive been to Casa Ramos several times but today was my first time returning after six months and I am safe to say it will definitely be my last. I visited the restaurant with a friend and ordered a macho burrito as I typically do. This time however, my burrito was full of hard over-cooked rice that was completely inedible. When I informered my server she told "management" but they sent her to inform me that they would only give me a 10 percent discount. I was completely insulted. The waiter tried her best to rectify the issue by bringing out a side of rice which was completely useless since what sense would it make for me to empty the contents of my burrito and replace it with only rice??? I asked to speak to the manager face-to-face but they didnt have the respect enough to come out. Yet, they sent their waiter to do their bidding. An act that was completely unprofessional and not customer friendly. And what a way to treat your employees by making them take your fall. Story short, the waitress offered to purchase my meal out of her own money. I wish I would have read the reviews before going because obviously theres a cook that doesnt care about the quality of their food. I dont expect this place to make it to the end of the year. Its going down fast. The quality, service, and price inflation are tell-tale signs of a struggling business. You can especially tell as theyre taxing side complimentary items like sour cream and guacamole.$3.25 for guacamole ?! You have to be kidding me! Stay away from this place. Crappy food. Crappy service.

Tonight, I finally tried Casa Ramos! I teach at the gym next to the restaurant and have always thought Id like to try it out. When I entered the restaurant, I was greeted almost in an annoyed fashion by who appeared to be a manager or even an owner (this much I do not know). I was seated in a back room area alone and waited probably 10 minutes to be offered water and greeted by my server. He was COVERED in sweat and Im assuming was having a trying evening. I while I waited for my water (the restaurant had one large party and maybe 7 other tables sat in a dining space that can seat MUCH more), another server brought me the customary chips and salsa. There were literally like 10 chips and a salad dressing container with salsa in it- super cheap of the restaurant! My server returned and I ask to hear the sugar content in the margarita mix to see if I wanted one. He said, "I dont know..." I asked if he could find out and he disappeared for another 10 minutes, at which point, I left. What a horrible fiasco! Please jut close down if you are tired of running a restaurant; Tampa Palms is a wonderful neighborhood and you restaurant has potential, but the service SUCKS!
