My husband and I had a gift card to go here given by my co-workers. We looked it up online and saw that they had "earlybird specials" from 5-6pm. We are on a budget and that sounded perfect. Smaller, nice tasting meals at a smaller price? Wow, that sounded good. Well, we got there at 5:25 and were given a rude welcome. A man gave a lackluster "hey, how can I help you...sit anywhere you like.."We sat ourselves and our waitress gave us menus and didnt say a thing about the specials. We were given the regular "specials", but nothing said about this being "earlybird hour" or "half price hour" or whatever. Nothing. We waited for it. But nothing. We didnt know there was a seperate menu, so we just went with it,hoping maybe it would automatically be deducted at the bill. Now heres the kicker, the other waiter said it to every person that walked in and sat down (and we could hear it, there was a faint bit of music in there....it felt awkward and silent...chilly and old....But anyway, we felt cheated because nothing was said to us. We ordered meals from the regular menu and ate the mediocre food. The rice pilaf tasted like rice-a-roni (same canned cube shape carrots and rehydrated peas) and the vegetables tasted like they came from a cafeteria. I had the duck, which was good, but the skin was soggy and coated in a not so pleasant brown sauce with a few cherries. Too much sauce!!! My husbands grouper portion was smaller than mine, but still charged the same price. When dinner finished, my husband asked what the "specials" were that everyone kept talking about, the waitress stuttered and stammered like she did not know what he was talking about. Finally we got it out of her that there WAS an earlybird menu. Right after that, a couple came in at 6:25 and asked directly for the earlybird menu and left because there were told no they were not being offered. The manager told the waiter to chase them out the door to bring them back in and offer them the earlybird prices. They came in nearly a half an hour after the end of it! We were there at 5:30?! How can it be nothing was said about the prices when every person over the age of 60 was offered it? I stewed about it on the way home and when I called to let the manager know, she was extremely rude and did not help at all. When I asked if people were given the choice of the specials, she said no we didnt offer it to everyone, just those that ask. Since we did not ask for it, we were not given a choice. She continued to argue with me saying that was the "smaller portion" menu and with less food. That would have been fine with me. It probably would have been the same as what my husband got with his dry grouper dinner.I told her that the customer service was lacking and needed working on. She said she will give my comments "consideration". Consider US no longer patrons and I will let my fellow St. Augustinians know too. Note, if you do make the mistake of deciding to go to Le Pavillion, make sure you ask for the earlybird specials because they will not be given to you unless asked for. Oh, and if you are younger, this place definitely caters to an older crowd and the food shows. It is like an old folks home before six. The food tastes bland, dull, and lacking on salt. But hey, if that is your bag, go for it. If you are hungry and are just passing by this place and thinking about going in, you are better going across the street to the Ramada and getting a stale banana from their breakfast bar. It tastes better and a whole lot cheaper. I wouldnt even give this place one star if I could!

First off, my husband and I are frequent restaurant patrons. We tip very well, and are extremely flexible regarding even the remotest possiblity that we may have caught them on a bad night. We made a reservation, and at the time, no one told us we had to be dressed nicely to sit in one of the "better" dining rooms...instead, we were looked up and down, were sat in the large front room--strangely reminiscent of a chotchkissed Cracker Barrel. Before I go into details, let me say that from the time we sat down to the time our main course was even served, 1 hr and 30 minutes passed--most of it with us sitting with no drinks or food in front of us. After sitting with nothing in front of us for 15 mins with no attention whatsoever, our waitress finally come over. Since we had been given menus when we got to our table (like Cracker Barrel), we immediately ordered a bottle of wine, and appetizer. When our wine was delivered, we ordered our main course. Wine was quite good. Escargot--fine. Not really worth $10. Salad, boring and overdressed. 1 hour later we had been sitting in front of empty wine glasses and bottle for at least 30 minutes. Our waitress, we decided, was clearly ignoring us (did she forget to put in our entree order?) After she served the table of 5 that came in after us, she stopped by to check on us. We ordered another bottle of wine (did we command her attention yet? We should have with the amount of money we were spending.) and she told us that we "were up next". Wine arrived, and as WE poured the second glass, the dinner arrived...20 mins maybe. At this point the table of 5, was paying their check. Unfortunately, we were starving and dove into our entree without concern for the flavors.....BUT, I will tell you, both plates of lamb were drastically undercooked. Something that is unacceptable for what might have been the most expensive item on the menu. What the heck is going on here? Just like at a Chilis or Applebees, our waitress stopped by for the dishes and said "Can I get you anything else?" UM, yeah, coffee, dessert? No...I guess we must have been bothering her because she didnt offer. And our check arrrived via another waitress. Lets recap, our check came to $144 before tip. At what point does it kick in that it could be a big tip? $30 at least if the experience had not been so unpleasant that we almost left in the middle. but $15 was all we could muster... We felt disrespected from the moment we walked in. I dont know who is more to blame, the restaurant for doing it or us for taking it and not leaving at the first seating in Cracker Barrel. Dont waste your money...go somewhere else.

Tried this for the first time since moving to Saint Augustine this year. I rarely review restaurants but was so disappointed in this place. First, when we arrived no one greeted us and it had an awkward entry. We finally had to go find someone who sat us immediately. It was pretty busy but have seen places much busier. Our server was awful. He was taking care of 5-6 tables and running all around. I think the kitchen was the big issues but the server didnt help matters. We got our drinks quickly but 45 minutes to get our bread and salads!! I could hear others were getting irritated over the service and how long their food was taking to arrive. It was 1 hour and 40 minutes until our entrees showed. I was getting ready to walk out when it finally arrived My husband ordered the blue cheese stuffed steak and that was good. My veal Oscar was NOT good and I didnt eat it. I will say that our server brought us 2 more glasses of wine at no charge because of the wait. He really was not a good server and was blaming the kitchen. Even if thats true, you could have been more attentive! Another very attentive person came to our table. I dont know who he was but I believed him to be the GM or owner. At the end, we didnt pay for the veal entree which was taken off our bill. The owner knew our experience was not great and personally showed us around and apologized for the veal dish. He was really great and while I am only giving it 2 stars, his attention will lead me to try it one more time. As far as that server.... Dude.... Get another job!
