It is sad my $200 cashmere sweater (a Christmas present) magically disappeared at this restaurant on 1/19/2014. They even stated they found it and put it on the hostess counter when they closed and between then and the next day, is vanished. It was my favorite sweater and this has, at this point, really hurt my feelings. There is ZERO doubt that an employee has it. For years, I have always gone there every time Im close by as well as my best friend who works/lives near by at the Conch House as we make it a point to go there a few times when I come into town. My ex goes every time she comes to St Augustine, my title company friend and guest always goes and a few other friends. I will do my best to influence them and others from ever going there again. I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN and it blows this has happened. They have my phone number if they want to fix this but my phone has not rung. The food and (most employees) are awesome and I would have given them a 5-star rating but this has cut deep so 1 is all they are getting and if there was a zero rating, that would be it. So SAD!!! We had lunch here on Sunday after mass. This was a second visit for us and we enjoyed the food even better a year later. We had the pasta/chicken and pasta/shrimp combo while enjoying the casual atmosphere of this little hidden secret. This place does a great job with high quality meals for resonable price. The down side was our waitress Shawna J. who has a lot to learn. She takes orders, delivers food, and bring tabs as slowly as possible if you need anything else better flag someone else because you wait forever on her. We still left her a nice 20% tip and maybe shell figure it out someday those tips are based on service and could be even more with just a little attention. Well be back next year cant wait!!!!!

Pretty good. Menu is a little annoying, as they have dishes with their own personalized names, but no descriptions, which left us asking several questions about the menu. I found the decor and ambiance to be a little "kitschy" for lack of a better word. The carpet looks like its been there since the place opened. I also noticed that everyone in the place besides my fiancé and myself were over 60. Seems like the kind of place that caters to their clientele, which is absolutely fine, Im just not in that demographic. I gave it 4 stars because the food was still excellent, which is all the really matters, I just dont know if Id be back given all of the choices in town.

Food can be described in one word, "nasty!" Steak tasted like someone put in a skillet heated it and served it. Shredded cabbage was just that. Beef Brisket was hummmmm, beef brisket. The broccoli was 1 min of steam short from raw. Salad plate was full of water with salad on top. Dressing was water with a little dressing added, (watered down). And yes we had to use a lot of their VERY watered down A1 sauce. We had to use a lot of it for both reasons, (meat was flavorless and space was watered down). Oh, the mashed potatoes were good. Apparently the waitress had a @3%^& shoveled up her #$$. NO personality!

Best salads in Saint Augustine and the Best House Dressing youll find anywhere!!!!!! Gypsy Chicken is one of their signature dishes and the service is friendly and unpretentious, no hipsters no attitude just a cool chill place to catch an awesome meal in St Augustine close to downtown and hey you can actually just pull around back and find a parking spot...which is rare commodity these days anywhere within sniffing distance of downtown. Im stoked its my neighborhood place but the worth the drive from anywhere....

After reading all of the great reviews, I was extremely disappointed in my experience with the Gypsy Cab Co Restaurant. Im not sure if we went on an off day or what, but our waitress was surly to the point of being rude (a particular problem here since the menu apparently changes every day and there were no descriptions of any of the dishes) and not a single one of the four dishes that our party ordered were good. I couldnt believe how much my experience differed from the glowing reviews listed below =/

Small and quaint Very Close to the St Augustine Lighthouse with the Haunted tours.. perfect place to go before for dinner and then the Lighthouse for the haunted tour fits perfect ... Good Server/Bartender . Food was delicious and has Good wine choices .. Being that I was from out of Town Via Siesta Key visiting St Augustine .. I would recommend even for a quick bite but Lighthouse tour with Gypsy Cab Company restaurant being right there cant beat and will return

Ordered a burger with no bun, and veggies instead of French fries due to food allergies. My order arrived with a burger on a bun, and French fries on the plate. I alerted the server and she said "do you want to hand me the bun?" I sent the plate back but it was returned to me with the same burger, the bun had simply been removed. This is not ok for someone with food allergies. The server was not apologetic about the mistakes and made no effort to accommodate.

Okay, Ive been eating at Gypsys since 88? Maybe 87. Thats a long time. I can only think of one time I had a bad meal here. I preferred their old menu from the 90s but things change. The popular dishes remain and its still a nice place for lunch or dinner. Service is the only reason I couldnt give them 5 stars. Its just a crap shoot the last year on whether or not you get a decent waiter/waitress. Still highly recommend you try it.

I ordered the pork chop, which was the special. It was awful. It was a fatty cut of meat and was soggy, it didnt have a sear on the outside which good pork chops normally have. I also had the house salad, and the house dressing was so disgusting. I do not get how everyone likes the house dressing in the reviews! It was one of the worst dressings that I have ever tried! The only plus was that our server was very nice.

Been here 4 times before I decided on my review. Each time was worst than the last. Food was like something from a cafeteria lunch line. Drinks were over priced and they put so much ice in my Sangria that its literally 4 sips. I asked for light ice too. Ignoring you seems to be their trick. Salads are skimpy and you get 1 thin slice of cucumber. No tomatoes. Just totally over priced and that equates to greedy.

Soo disappointed. This place obviously had its moment of fame in the past. The food may have been fresh, however, it was nothing I would want to eat again. The interior was showing its age, tired paint, worn carpeting etc. We thought it looked packed from the outside, but all the cars in the lot were for the establishment next door. It wasnt a terrible experience just more of a let down..

Great food. I had a Seafood pasta and my Husband had a steak. Both excellent. Friendly staff too. A little pricey but worth the extra food bucks for a great meal. All these people complaining about the salad dressing are ridiculous. Yeah, it was different but if you dont like it why dont you taste it before you dump it all over your salad!!! Its served on the side.
