Wow, this is a fantastic restaurant with delicious food and excellent service. Le Coq Au Vin uses the very finest and freshest ingredients and it definitely comes through in the outstanding flavor of the finished product. It is not cheap or low-priced, but the food is some of the best Ive ever tasted, and is well worth the price. This is our new favorite restaurant! I visited recently with my wife and her parents. It was her mothers birthday and this was her mothers selection (although we were slightly hesitant due to a few disappointing experiences with French cuisine in the past). We began with each selecting an hor doeuvre. I started with a hearty crock of robust French onion soup. We also had the baked brie, escargot, and fried green tomatoes. All were excellent and portions were generous. For main course, I chose the Beef tenderloin sautéed with crab meat and béarnaise sauce. This was superb! My wife ordered the beef Tournedos and was seriously impressed by the outstanding flavor and quality of every aspect of the skilled culinary preparation. Her parents ordered the Hunter style schnitzel, and chefs special boar; and they delighted in the enjoyable deliciousness. I had their crème brulée for dessert, which was the best Ive ever had (and crème brulée is typically my favorite dessert, so Ive had many). The only disappoint of the evening was the coffee. While it wasnt "bad," it was just ordinary and not a rich, powerful dark French roast that I hoped for. As is the old adege, "you get what you pay for" it is true. The finest ingredients and most skilled preparation doesnt come cheap, but thankfully, that is not Le Coq Au Vins goal. I felt that the prices were reasonable and not over-priced; just reflective of the price of the very best quality of food and preparation. Excellent!

Try to visit a French restaurant in every city in North America I visit so have an idea of what to expect . Main reason would be Foie Gras and something tasty around this dish. We have called ahead and made a reservation. This Restaurant has an an usual exterior look and were hesitant to go inside ..one never knows so lets try. Setting is rather nice and the staff seems nice. Starting with french baguette style bread and butter it is excellent. This place looks like it will be a great choice..Not for very long!! The Onion soup is sour like nowhere else. After two spoon fulls not sure if it is spoiled or maybe to much vinegar so asked the waiter if it is normal he took it back to the kitchen and could see some discussion going on..Came back and said yes there is vinegar in it but never brought it back.FOIE GRAS was next and while the liver was seared just right it was on french toast and the Sauce pored over this was awful and overpowered everything else. No idea if the chef ever tasted it or what he was thinking..Even if food taste is subjective this is just plain badly prepared!! Next comes the duck. Again the duck it self would be fine ..what ever was poured over it and surrounded the meat was awful. Time to leave still without grumbling I noticed they did not take the french soup charge out. I guess repeat business is of no importance. On the way out we are asked if everything was ok?? Answer not really fell on deaf ears and was reassured they do not care about improvement or costumer satisfaction. Bad experience and a ruined evening of dining out. ONE STAR FOR THE BREAD! Should be ZERO. Do not make a mistake and dine here if planning on ordering the same menu. You have been warned.

Intimate atmosphere, always great, attentive service. We went there with a large group once during Magic Dining month (which I understand that Le Coq au Vin is also doing for the month of October as well), and another time as well, to take advantage of the $33 for three courses. The first time I had the tomato tart, salmon in lemon sauce and the crepe Suzette. The tomato tart was a wonderful surprise as it did not sound that interesting to me, but, it was delicious. The salmon was served with a potato au gratin (I believe) and carrots. The sauce that was on the salmon was a great addition to the flavor palate, so much so that I just had to swirl my carrots in it. Dessert was not my favorite and was a bit too tart for my tastes. The next time I had the onion soup, coq au vin, and the apple tart. The onion soup was made with apple cider and cream and I was not sure of the combination...until I tasted it, and wow, it was good. The coq au vin is a staple and is always good. Oh, by the way, someone actually brought in a crying baby to the restaurant at 8 pm and we had to listen to him wail the entire time. Rather killed the ambiance we are accustomed to at this restaurant. Still cannot figure out why they even would consider bringing an infant out to an expensive and intimate restaurant in the first place. Nor why they would let the baby cry all evening...steadily. But this was a rare occasion for this restaurant, and in the many times I have been there, this was the only time.

I came to here with 3 other friends for magical dining. From the moment we ordered we could tell that we were bottom of the totem pole in terms of priority. We were the only patrons in the restaurant under the age of 40. Every other table was visited many many times while our waiter only came twice for the whole hour and a half that we waited for our food. When our food finally came it was not warm and the opposite of fresh. Completely disappointed with every aspect of our visit so far it would only get worse. The first thing the waiter said when we told him of the issues with the quality of our food was "youre the only ones to complain" as if to say our opinion is invalid; he did not offer any sort of apology. Then the owner came over and from the moment she opened her mouth it was evident that she had cemented a negative impression of us in her mind as young, ignorant, free loaders looking for a discounted meal. Which was completely not true. We save for the whole year to visit as many restaurants for magical dining as possible. The owner did not say sorry either and immediately told us that we were wrong, the food must have been warm, and that its normal to wait for over an hour for your food. The owner continued to berate us as if we were children, not paying customers. I have never dealt with such horrendous customer service in my life. This witch of a woman does not deserve to run a McDonalds let alone a supposedly quality French restaurant. Absolute trash.

If you are under the age of 50 do not go to this restaurant when it is busy or you will be the least of their priorities in terms of service and food quality. I visited this restaurant for magical dining. It took over an hour for us to get our food, and when we did it was cold and unseasoned. Each component appeared as if it was cooked in a microwave and assembled with little to no thought. When the quality of the meal was brought to the attention of our waiter (whom we had to ask for because we had not seen him in over 30 minutes) his only reply was "Well youre the first to complain", as if to say my complaint was not valid. Then the owner came over and immediately started telling all 4 of us that we must be mistaken and we have obviously never been to a "fine dining" restaurant before. At one point my friend started to ask her a question and she responded by saying "I wasnt talking to you." When we brought up the length of time it took to get our food she says our order went in at 8:25, even though we ordered at 7:45, and she accused us of lying. She did not offer any sort of condolences for our atrocious experience. Suffice to say we will never be dining at this restaurant again and advise any person that does not resemble their typical clientele of elderly patrons to never dine here.
