Dishes may have Southern roots and benefit from Asian and European techniques, or begin as something altogether different. The cassoulet of duck starts French, adds dark and spicy Andouille sausage, and serves the richly flavorful fowl on a bed of slow-simmered boiled peanuts instead of white beans. Cornmeal crisped oysters sit gently on a hammock of fried chicharrón pork rind, promising the inevitable crunch. Perfectly cooked smoked Florida Cobia lends a subtle woody aroma and taste to a dense and flavor-packed cake of black-eyed peas and potatoes, a well-considered amalgam of Deep South and Florida inspirations. And then there’s the Korean Fried Chicken. A product of decades-old chains in Seoul, where wings are served alongside beer as snacks called anju, this alternative KFC began hitting the New York and California food scenes around 2007 and is slowly spreading across the country. The super crunchy, twice-fried delight had already made a local appearance courtesy of several ride-a-trend food trucks, but Soco’s version is a mastery of the art. Served with a sweet and vinegar sauce alongside, the locally sourced Lake Meadow Naturals chicken is marvelously moist underneath its thin, brittle exterior, with a taste of that coveted crisp skin of a roasted turkey fresh from the oven. Those who favor actual Southern fried chicken might be taken aback by this South Korean variety, but I am crazy about it. Order a beer and prepare your teeth and taste buds for a workout. Wood and whitewashed brick has replaced the stark black and white color scheme of Hue inside and along the still-popular outside deck. A fascinating parquet wood bar holds a place of companionable pride, and the open kitchen belies its seemingly small size by containing a constant buzz of chefly activity. Chef Richie can usually be found checking each plate before it leaves the kitchen. He can take Southern pride in every one of them.

My experience at Soco will forever be remembered. The service received was distasteful. I was taken to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday, and rather then leave with a memorable experience, I witnessed a floor manager act in a manner which was by far NO short than a juvenile. Soco failed to display exceptional customer service. Watching a floor manager argue with a customer is an act of a poorly trained manager. As a manager, your role is to resolve any/all matters in a professional fashion. This floor manager spoke to my party in a tone which was harsh and rude. This man spoke with bodily gestures which were unpleasant, and portrayed poor self-control. This floor manager went as far as snapping his fingers at the party of women. I wish to request a professional apology from the Manager and Socos Corporate Manager for the lack of professional shown. I trust this floor manager will be offered the proper training needed to be able to display the attributes Soco is advertised for. Bad customer service will always take away from what wouldve otherwise been a delightful experience.

Superb experience on the last evening of Magical Dining 2016 at this casual, warm restaurant taking on classic Southern fare. Beginning with the small plates, the crispy macaroni and cheese croquettes with heirloom tomato sauce was the perfect start to an unplanned night. As a main course, the grilled meatloaf on lobster-mashed potatoes was very pleasing, full of three-meat blend, onion rings, and smoked Vidalia onion Andouille sausage gravy. From the regular menu, a plate of chicken fried New York strip with garlic mashed potatoes, topped with white truffle pepper gravy sat at my table as well, and was indulging at most. Baked apple crisp, a pecan streusel, topped with vanilla bean ice cream made its ultimate appearance. Though known to be a casual restaurant, this mesmerizing location is perfect for an upscale date with excellent food and an exclusive drink selection taking on a sophisticated feel.

I visited Soco this past weekend to celebrate my friends birthday. Now while the food was tasty, the treatment that we received by their so called management has forever left a bad taste in my mouth. The manager on duty that evening came over to our table and was extremely rude to a member of our party. To the point of waves some piece of paper in her face, when asked for his name and business card he walks away snapping his finger in our faces. I called the restaurant to speak with the GM about my experience he proceeds to tell me what actually happened instead of listening to what I had to say. Claiming that things were said and done that did not even happen. He defended his manager to the end. I will NEVER visit Soco again. Management needs to take another training on how to treat their customers.

Being a big fan of neighbouring and same chef holding baoery, I expected a big experience on the soco Sunday brunch. Instead, we got bad service (waiter brought the food and then took ages to bring forks and knives; we asked for napkins and he forgot over and over) and a mediocre fare. We tried several dishes and the best one was the watermelon salad (surprising and refreshing ) and the Sunday burger (solid and well combined). The rest was rather disappointing : steak tartar was fine but the bread to spread it was unedible, the duck potato hash browns was plainly a bad combination of nice elements, the salmon bagel would have been nice if the bagel were better and the pork belly dish came along with a way too acid sauce. Go to the next corner and get a perfectly nice meal at baoery.

My husband and I was on vacation in Orlando, FL and decided to check Soco based off all the good reviews we read... Indeed!!!! the reviews where correct everything was so delicious and fresh we had the chicken in dumplings for starters A+ the best I ever had... We also had the home made biscuits with blueberry preserves ... Yes, fresh and to die for! Then my husband and I had the meatloaf with lobster mashed potatoes. Loved every drop of it our waiter was very pleasant. Also the manager asked us how was everything! every thing came out hot fresh most of all delicious! This is a pick stop for us everytime we are in Orlando. Also the cocktails were well mixed with fresh ingredients. I love the watermelon cooler! Soco has been added to one of my favorite restaurant see you guys very soon!

The first and only time Ive ever been to this restaurant was disappointing. The AC broke that day so we were sweating the entire time we were there. My visit was during their Sunday brunch and 1 of the 2 sweet options in the menu were sold out at 1pm. I was really looking forward to try their home made pop tarts but they were out and the restaurant wasnt even packed. The kitchen should probably have enough of the pop tarts since their menu has a lot of savory menu items during brunch but not so much for sweet. It was a bad first experience due to the atmosphere and the lack of proper inventory in the kitchen. The staff was pleasant and the food was tasty but not mind blowing. Im giving it 3 stars just for good service from their staff.

This place was absolutely fabulous! Where else can you get bottomless for only $10! My server was very knowledgeable about the food and even gave us some insight on the works of the executive chef and how he got the menu. I came here Sunday when I was visiting my father in orlando. My old man is usually picky but he was loving everything I ordered. We started off with the steak tartare and it was amazing, it just oozed with flavors. For my main course I ordered the lobster Benedict that was to die for. I would def recommend this place to anyone in the Orlando area, absolutely fantastic !
