This place is a joke and so is the rating for it (which is why we came to this place). Doubting if they are even legit. I was in Orlando on a vacation and this restaurant is definitely at a prime location. So very easily accessible. But that is the only positive. When we entered no one even looked at us. No one to usher you in. We kept peeping into the restaurant and finally hailed a waiter and asked him to seat us. After that there was no response from the waiter or the other lady who seemed to be running the place. I finally told the waiter that if some one is not taking our orders in 5 mins Im leaving. The lady immediately came and took our orders. But she was pretty much slamming the food on our tables after that. She would just slam and walk away! !!!!!! Only in an Indian restaurant you would find such atrocious behavior! The food tastes bad. Dosa batter must be at least two days old giving it a rubbery feel. Since I make batter at home i know how an old batter tastes and feels. The coconut chutney is terrible. We ordered dum aloo and know what we got? Dum aloo in a small cup and loads of sambhar and rice and a dosa. Are you *&$!ing kidding me? Please stay away from this place.

Okay, I hate to write a bad review to this place cause the art inside is amazing, but.... - I ordered a glass of Pinot Noir , it was so sour and looking cloudy. My wife ordered Palak Paneer Medium Spice, I ordered chicken Korma Medium , my buddy had the lamb vindaloo Medium spice. Oddly enough the curries taste the exact same . So if you looking for a taste of only 1 curry come here, THEY ALL TASTE THE SAME . I decided to take a biryani as well for to go , let me tell you!!! This is not biryani , its more like spicy rice with masala. The mango lassi had chunks of yogurt in it, my wife is a huge fan of lassi and she thought it was disgusting . Now they dont have nan, but the Paretha was good , thats about it. It was a buisness trip, so we decided on desert and the waiter told me only homemade desert and fresh that they have is kulfi. So there was no desert involved that evening . Service was 1/5 they had a old guy with a mustache who just walks around , looking like he is doing something and a young man, who seems to be doing all the work. Bad experience , prices to high. 21$ for biryani . Craziest pricing I ever saw . Ps. You will have to go number 2 after eating dinner here !

Very overpriced, food below average. Service was horrible, did not seem like they like care. We waited a very long time for some one to take order for drinks or food. When we kept asking again and again for food, they promised to get it to us but still after much long time, we were ready to walk out (wishing now if we had done so), they promised it is ready and will be there shortly. Surely they brought it out, very poor presentation, seemed stale and as if they just reheated it. They dont prepare fresh food. They charged for things that we ordered but not served. When the bill comes out, the already tack on 15% tip claiming it is on Menu, That got me over the edge. I asked to see some one about it, The server said owner will come and see me. But then the owner does not come, they just send the corrected bill. Clearly the owners does not seem to care of the service and the clientele. This type of service was just not acceptable and the server made a grumpy face. They need to be shown that this type of business should not be acceptable.

This place needs to be applauded for the audacity of serving horrible food with straight face. We were really hungry after a day in Disney and headed to this place and ordered Lemon rice, butter Naan, paneer makani, and Vegetable biryani. 1)Lemon rice was made from already cooked cold rice lumps which was given to us exactly with white lumps, the cook was impatient and did not wait for mustards to temper in oil leaving bitter mustard taste in mouth. The rice was cold and there was no chillies, no peanuts void of any taste. 2) the lady who took the order doesnt inform us that there is no Tandoor so server ends up giving us Tava paratha in place of butter Naan with a shrug. 3)Vegetable biryani again made out of cold rice, no basmathi rice, no hints of richness nothing absolutely tasteless! 4)paneer makhni with paneer dropped in a already ready gravy. Paneer absolutely tasteless! As kids were hungry we ended up eating the food with out complaining and we pay 55$, they include tips for themselves when they bill!

We came to Orlando during Labor day weekend from Newyork. After visiting Magic Kingdom we googled to find some Indian food. Then Dakshin showed up.We decided to try Dakshin because it was very close to Magic Kingdom. We reached the restaurant by around 9PM. It is a fine dining restaurant with may be 50-70 seats.Their main specialty is in south Indian cuisine but they do north Indian dishes as well. We ordered Kolambi fry for starters and Chicken chettinad and Lamb Kada Masala for the main course. They served the curry dishes with hot Basmati rice. When it comes to the food, the food was full of flavor. It had the right amount of spice, and the right amount of tenderness. I especially loved the Lamb Kada Masala with their special bread called garlic Calicut porota. The chicken Chettinad was very filling. Well definitely go back next time were at Orlando. If you are looking for a fine dining spot near to Disney Orlando, I strongly recommend Dakshin.

Not a pleasant experience at all! The restaurant appears tired- and the table tops could use some refinishing. Serving reheated frozen food bought from an Indian grocery store is NOT cool. The sambar is nothing like a southindian place should serve. The Indian bread we ordered was not even fully cooked through (Ive eaten this item from the frozen section of the grocery store and know what it should taste like if done well on a pan) and the idlis were passed through a microwave as they had a thin dry film on the top and were crumbly (not soft and fluffy). Rice was definitely a few days old. I know what south Indian food should taste like-being a southindian myself and having eaten at several Indian restaurants in the US in the last 10 years. The only reason we finished our meal was because we were tired and hungry from being outdoors all day. Very disappointing experience. Will not be visiting again.

This is the second time we ate at Dakshin Indian Restaurant Orlando. The first time was for a lunch thali, and it had a nice variety. It has become our favorite restaurant in Orlando! It is in a strip mall with plenty of parking space. This time i had the Chicken Tikka Masala and Fish Fry. Both were excellent. the Garlic Porota YUM! . Also i highly recomend having the shrimp Kolabi fry. The dishes are absolutely incredible! The food is extremely fresh, which really brings all the flavors to life. Every dish is an explosion of flavors in your mouth! They even have special Indian breads, which are delicious. The owner likes to make suggestions both times steered us in a good direction. He seems very nice. When we left, we were even given a coupon for 15% off our next dinner and we will certainly be back.
