We were visiting from out of town and wanted German food. Having worn out the fare near the parks we decided to venture into town and see what we could find. The first place was closed and in retrospect we consider that a blessing. For the folks lucky enough to live in Orlando, you have something quite special here. If you have travelled abroad this restaurant is very reminiscent of inns and guest houses throughout Bavaria and is truly unique. The first thing you notice is this is like visiting someones house. The decor and ambiance have a comfy home feel that are quite inviting. I would recommend reservations but at the very least call them and let them know you are coming and the size of your party. The kitchen closes promptly at 8:30 and while I am sure they could accommodate basic requests beyond that time these folks have been at it since 8:00 in the morning and are ready to wind down. All of this is expected behavior when you are traveling through parts of Europe. I can understand some of the culture clash with the American approach to eating (I am American after all) but it is a fun change of pace of you arent used to it. The food is just like you have been invited to your friends house to eat dinner. We found the service to be outstanding, efficient but not rushed in any way as we would expect. The staff was knowledgable about every dish too because we did have some questions. I recommend the sampler platter to share if you are new to German food it gives you a roasted pork shank, rouladen, schnitzel, ghoulash and brat and your choice of two sides. This on top of the fresh breads. We also had the potato pancakes and they were just incredible with all the toppings provided. Some in our party had the various schnitzels and they were also amazing. I recommend the spätzle and potato salad sides but I am sure the others are just as good. The German beer choices were voluminous and the staff brought us a shot glass of several of their best to try - in true German fashion! Gratuity is included in the final bill and while I can understand this to be a put off for some it is standard practice when visiting abroad. Usually the final bill includes everything, food, service and drinks. I like it and to be honest they only include the very minimum fifteen percent. Our service was worth more and I left more. (We were there right at 8:20 and they still took amazing care of my family). If you go with the right mind set, not in a hurry, not at closing time be prepared to have one of the best experiences you have had. I felt like I could go right upstairs to my room and read for a while and then drift off to sleep (were it only an inn!!) but alas I had to drive back. It may have some quirks for some but relax and keep an open mind - I highly recommend this place and wish there were more like it. I rarely give five stars but this experience was truly worth it. Enjoy!

Better than the Willow Tree! Dont get me wrong, the Willow Tree is excellent, but Bauern-Stube has a much more cozy atmosphere, and the food is AMAZING and just tastes more authentic than Willow Tree in my opinion. I ordered the Jaegerschnitzel mit Rottkraut und Spaetzel mit Rahm sauce which was PERFECT. The schnitzel was moist and came breaded (The Willow Tree doesnt bread theirs unless you specifically ask them to, which is just weird to me), the Rottkraut was actually sweet and not bitter, and the noodles with gravy were just delicious :) The servers and owners do walk around and talk to people, and they are authentically German and will gladly talk to you in German if you want! :) They were very friendly, honestly interested in getting to know you, and they even gave us a shot on the house (dont expect that though!). We had some of their Chocolate Cake for desert, and even that didnt disappoint! They do have an automatic gratuity included, but its totally worth it from my experience. Just an FYI, Ive lived in Germany for 4 years, and my mom is full-blooded German so we visit our relatives at least once a year. Their food was the most authentic Ive had here in the States so far! Its nice to be able to eat a delicious Jaegerschnitzel without having to go to Germany :)

It was a re-occuring visit to this restaurant and we were very disapointed how bad it gotten. I am a German and have to say that this food served here definately is not GERMAN nor near authentic. My husband ordered a Leberknödel soup and it was luke warm and had no taste. I had a sour hering with boiled potatoes which was not near to the original. Our friend and my husband had a Wiener Schnitzel which was deep fried and very greasy. They were offered a side order of red cabbage (!!!)... are you kidding??!! A Schnitzel of this kind is served in Germanypan fried and with potatoe salad and green salad!! To top it off, we received a free refill of beer brought to us by the waiter in a half full large beer glas poored into our glasses at the table!!! :- ( This happened because of our complaints about food being cold and brought at the wrong time. After asking the waitress several times for the check, we got up, went to the front counter, where we found her overwhelmed with orders and checks; we had to wait for another 10 min. And to make matters worse, all 3 of us got sick during the night and the next morning with upset stomach and diarrhea. There is one thing for sure, we will not return nor recommend this restaurant ever. If you have a good immune system, enjoy your dinner!!

It starts at the front door. Our shoes were literally stuck to the floor by a disgusting tile floor and carpet. The service was not bad when we first arrived but odd. The waitress informed us that the prices in the menu for drinks were not correct and she did not know the size of the pitcher even though it was almost 50% more than the menu price. The waitress kept apologizing and told us that if she left mid order it was because she must serve the food hot and was not allowed to let it sit. She did not know what sauerkraut is even though she works at a GERMAN restaurant. The service just got significantly worse. She said she was going to bring us the dessert tray and returned almost 45 minutes later. When we asked for our check, she never returned to take our money so we went up to the front to pay. It took another 15 minutes for someone to actually return our card. FYI, they add 15% tip automatically. The food was good but not worth the $74 we spent for two people.
