Its a little touch of France on Oakland Park. Even the staff and guests were speaking French....I started looking for my passport. We decided to try a Rendez-vous for a late lunch, around 2pm, although they do serve lunch until 5, with a dinner menu after 5pm. The menu featured many of the classic staples of French bistro repertoire. In addition to the menu there was a feature board highlighting the days specials several of which I may have to come back and try ( beef bourguignon!). We both decided on a guilty pleasure - Ham Croque Monsieur. For those un familiar with this little gem, its basically a grilled ham and swiss filled and topped with béchamel sauce. Well it was 2pm and they were out of ham, so we tried turkey...oops, they only had one....ok Ill try something else....oops, change of plan our lovely server (name unknown, shes new) negotiated for us both to have turkey. First things first, its odd that they were "out" of something, but then it turns out they had it but just didnt want to make it fresh. Big strike. What ever the reason it comes across badly. Anyways - we had the turkey and it was quite good, maybe a little more nutmeg in the béchamel but it was tasty none the less (as a side note, this is a knife and fork sandwich). While we both had the same entree , we started with different soups. I had the tomato basil, while my companion had the French onion. The verdict is they were both outstanding. The onion soup was full- flavored with a heaping portion of melted cheese on top The Tomato soup was thick and rich, it almost verged on tomato sauce thick, but that is a welcome change from the thin watery soups Ive come to expect in local restaurants. There was just enough sweetness and cream to balance the tomato acidity. A success on all counts. Before we left, we decided to check out the dessert case which was full of pastries, cakes and other goodies and according to the Frenchman behind the counter, everything is made there. Maybe next time will be soup and dessert...,maybe some beef stew...hmmm, too many choices.

I truly love this Bistro, so much so that for the last six months I was looking forward to my lunch there. As I moved out of the area at the beginning of the year. I was disappointed not to see the old staff, although the current staff was polite welcoming and excellent. The dish I was so looking forward to had changed and not for the better. I ordered the ham and cheese crepe. Always outstanding in the past. But today the cream sauce was runny like water. The ham has been switched to chucks that contradict the creamy smooth texture of the sauce. Felt like large foreign lumps in my mouth. Very sad, hope they make the little changes to restore a favorite by my next visit. The rolls I have always loved came to the table stone cold and a little hard, sad... a few minutes to warm them would have made all the difference. I am really hoping this was just an off day for them, otherwise I can see this affecting the beautiful charm this Bistro has to offer. Remember it is the little details that will separate your competition.

Took my wife here for Mothers day about 3 years ago. They gave every woman a flower except my wife. Not sure if it was because we look young or we are Latin. Anyways no big deal. Service was very poor. Food was OK. When I go to pay the waitress loses my card. We sit there for like 30 minutes looking for it with the whole staff. Finally they tell us that we dont have to pay as it is there fault. So we had to cancel the card and wait for a new, one. Needless to say that day was shot as the banks are closed and who carries cash these days . We left our number just in case. I get a call back telling me they found the card and that they tried to charge my card and if I have another card they could charge. I thought that was pretty petty considering what a horrible experience I had this place. Needless to say I have never been back.

I have been going here for 10+ years. I dont go as often anymore only because I retired and my office was nearby when I was working. Comfortable country French restaurant with great food. My only problem is that I got addicted to their French Dip sandwich and that is what I order 95% of the time. Its roast beef with mayonnaise and provolone on a toasted baguette. Comes with a gravy dipping sauce. And your side is either fantastic French fries or a fantastic side of greens in a delicious dressing. My friend usually orders the French onion soup and a quiche which he loves. I have had their escargot in the past and I would recommend that too. Also had a fish dish years ago and again it was good but like I said, Im addicted to their French Dip. Their desserts, if you can find space in your stomach, are also great

Loved the Caprese sandwich. The Shepherds pie and the penne pasta with bacon, so cheesy. The desserts look so splendid. The only thing is that the drinks need to be better. $2.50 for a can of lemonade is RIDICULOUS. I would pay that for fresh squeezed lemon/orange juice. Or get a juice/soda fountain. Also why is it that bread is not offered. This is a Parisian themed restaurant, Freshly Baked French Bread should be on the table as soon as the guests are seated. Wine Pairings should be suggested with our meals. French music should be playing, not country. The bistro is lovely, a few tweaks are needed to complete the Parisian feel and ambiance. Quand même la nourriture etait délicieuse.

First I was pretty excited about checking out this little French restaurant. When we walked in it seemed pretty cool inside. It was kind of weird though because we were listening to 80s music. Which is cool but not inside a French restaurant. I would have expected maybe something a little more fitting to the atmosphere. The food was okay at first I was taken back but the more I thought about the food it really wasnt all that good. They gave us a ton of food per serving but it was just too much and it seems kind of sloppy. Ive only been here once not sure if Ill be back. All in all it wasnt a horrible experience but it was far from great.

I love this restaurant & have a friend that lives in Delray Beach that drives here and we meet for breakfast. Their french toast is awesome!! I always get it with their seasoned potatoes on the side. I eat breakfast here more than dinner, but have eaten their seafood pasta and its delicious. They dont skimp on the seafood at all! Whenever I have out of town guests, I always take them to Rendez Vous Bakery & they always rave about the food & atmosphere. Its a must to give this place a try.

This is a quaint and casual bistro. We had been searching for a comfortable french restaraunt and we found it! The onion soup was wonderful! The service was great. Loved the Rhone wine. The pesto was fresh and really yummy. The seafood crepe was awesome. Of course the test fro a french bistro is the pastry...WOW. I had breakfast here with my BFFalso. We both enjoyed the eggs and baguettes. Great place to go for breakfast. We will be regulars at this bistro!!! Janet
