It would be hard to say how much I wish I could give this restaurant a "5 star" review. It is just the kind of spot that I truly love, having owned a small restaurant, and knowing the amount of time and effort it takes to "get it right." The decor is very nice, the waiter was excellent, comfortable with the menu and a great server. Timing was perfect throughout the evening. The French Onion soup was wonderful, hot, luxuriously thick and tasty. The bread was excellent. However, the entree was such a disappointment. I ordered the duck entree from the menu. The presentation was lovely.... but the entree was lukewarm at best. Perhaps I missed it on the menu, but I really dont think it was meant to be served at room temperature. I was anticipating a crackling hot duck breast to savor. The flavors of the accompanying sauces were good, but the barely warm temperature just dragged it all down. The other people in our party enjoyed their entrees, which were all very nicely presented. Desserts were also beautiful and tasty. All in all, I would certainly try this lovely spot again, and hope to get back there,

Eating at Lumière is an amazing experience, yet approachable. Don’t be intimidated! Lumière is one of the Charlotte culinary gems. It all starts with the team, from the person answering the phone to our server. Service is impeccable, professional and classy, but without being old-fashioned. With the perfect touch of humour and friendless, they do make you feel special. Chef, as usual, prepared and cooked our meals to perfection, with interesting combinations of flavors and textures. The design of the food on the plate is amazing, bright, colorful, balanced. Temperature of each meal was perfect. Everything seems effortless, light, easy, simple and sophisticated at the same time. I can’t wait to come back at weeknight to experience the casual-chic-neighborhood-restaurant atmosphere and food.

Ive been here twice and the overall experience was good on both occasions. The starters and entrees were wonderful, the service friendly and snappy, and the decor is simple and unobtrusive. A recent favorite was the beet salad and the duck. So why 3 stars? In a word: the desserts. Both times they were sub-par, which I find puzzling. For example, I recently had the flourless chocolate cake with gelato. The cake was served too cold, it was hard to discern the presence of chocolate flavor, and it was way too dense. A better description would have been "Unappealing brick with a passing nod to chocolate" I would have expected a lot more at this price point. My advice: skip the desert and just enjoy the starters, entrees, and wine.

Simply amazing! Food is so good that youll want to thank the chef! And you should! Chef Mark and his team prepare an exceptional culinary experience. High caliber restaurant. Presentation, temperature, taste, timing, its all top notch. I would love to give this place 5 stars but I cant because of two minor dislikes. The desert ranks at barely a 3 and the dinner a solid 5. They need to work on this discrepancy and the tables are a little to close for my personal liking. But overall, I highly recommend giving this place a try. Be prepared to spend $40-$70 per person. Its well worth every penny if not more. Definitely a "Must Try" for the Queen City.

Holy French Food! This place is off the Rocker!! We had the oyster salad and the lobster appetizers, the duck and the bass entrees and then the rum balls and the creme brulee for our desserts. Was off the charts good! Also, the French martini was a hit with us. This place is the real deal!! The service was also top-notch. We were made to feel very welcome. Especially with my lovely tipsy wife spewing the profane and loudly talking about other people in the restaurant. I was grateful to have been allowed to even see my entree, much less finish my meal. They deserve 10 stars!

We enjoyed a memorable wedding anniversary dinner at this wonderful restaurant. The ambiance, service and food were exceptional. The recipes we enjoyed were adventurous dishes infused with everything important about French cuisine: fresh quality ingredients, finely crafted sauces, and artful presentation. We definitely plan to return to this excellent restaurant.

Our server Lisa was phenomenal! We ordered the shrimp bouillabaisse, and French garden for appetizers. For the entree we had Angus Prime, Pork Loin and for dessert vanilla ice cream and profiteroles and the cheese plate. Every course was impressive and very satisfying. Great service, food and atmosphere.

A wonderful French dining experience..starting with a delicious lobster bisque with saffron, wonderful appetizers, beautifully prepared fresh fish, nice French wine options, and delightful desserts. We dined here two times - both visits were excellent ,

Small, white table cloth French restaurant with a creative chef and friendly engaging service. The constantly rotating specials menu will keep you coming back. By far the best fois gras Ive had in Charlotte (shame on me I know).
