Yesterday, I had the unfortunate displeasure of eating at Madisons for the first time. There were four of us, and we started by ordering waters with lots of lemons, and two of us also ordered coffee. At first, it seemed ok - the server was friendly, he brought out the drinks quickly, and was able to answer questions I had regarding the menu. The the food came out very fast, and all four of us were satisfied with our meals. We didnt get quite enough lemons for all of us, so I asked for more. I noticed the owner/manager eyeing our table prior to our server bringing us the additional lemons, but I didnt think anything of it at the time. After all, there were four of us drinking water with lemons, and two of us got our glasses refilled. Then we got our bills, one for each couple. Each of us had been charged $0.99 for LEMON SLICES! I called our server over and told him we had issues with being charged for lemons, and would like to speak to the manager. And then it got ugly. The owner came over and, when we disputed the charges, he raised his voice and said (as closely as I can recall), "We gave you 18 slices of lemons! Thats THREE lemons! Lemons are 3 for $1, and then I have to pay someone to wash them and slice them for you!" I told him he should be ashamed of himself conducting his business this way. He could have had repeat business if he had simply chosen to drop the lemon charges, but instead he chose to single us out and make a scene, displaying his rude behavior to the entire restaurant, most likely making everyone uncomfortable, not just the four of us. In the end, if you do the math, 18 lemons slices divided by six glasses of water is 3 slices of lemon per glass - a seemingly moderate amount. Considering we also purchased two cups of coffee and four meals, you would think this would have been no cause for concern to a business owner - but clearly he would rather lose business than cut lemons.

I went on a Thursday morning there was maybe five other tables that. To be honest, the reason why am so upset is because how rude everybody is when you go there to dine alone. I went in at 10 AM and ordered a breakfast burrito, it was ready fast, it was OK. Literally minutes after receiving my meal the waitress dropped off the check. I asked for more salsa, and I got charged another $.50 it was like the waitress mad she had to re-write the check. It appeared to be, the owner who was sitting in a booth and literally seared at me for probably three minutes. Thats where it was just very uncomfortable, I understand I am young and dining by myself, but you staring is rude. The lady at the front desk was clearly play on her phone underneath the counter. I think that she said a total of hello, just one, hello again when I brought the check, she put her hand out for my card but never told me "it comes to $$$$," and thanks when she put my card on the counter instead of handing it to me. Some may think I expect much. But I would of gone to a chain restaurant if I didnt want the "family like atmosphere." I should gone home and had cereal with my dog given their lack of personality and hospitality.

I was very disappointed with my visit. I met my boss at 10:00 to discuss business. The waitress was told we would be there a couple hours and if they needed the booth to let us know. They werent busy that morning, there were ample booths available. They started pushing us out the door at 11:30. The wait staff was rude, they didnt offer us refills, when we stood to leave there were 10 booths available! The owner was giving us the evil eye for the last 30 minutes and as we passed him on our way out he wouldnt look at us, didnt thank us just didnt acknowledge us in any way. Unbelievably impolite! Plus hes rude to the employees in front of the customers. Were taking our two days a week breakfast, and occasional clients, back to SMITHS CAFE on Main Street where the food is amazing, the waitresss are delightful and the rating is beter than this place. SMITHS CAFE SMITHS CAFE SMITHS CAFE SMITHS CAFE on Main Street next to the post office. Youll love SMITHS CAFE

BAD experience!!! I believe it is the owner a man dressed in street clothes that stands at the front of kitchen with NO gloves.... touches the food, moving it from one plate to another.... butters and handles toast .... runs around and shakes hands...clears tables with picking up 3 used germ filled glasses with one hand using his fingers inside the glasses .... then uses the DIRTY table rag washes the tables.... then runs back over and handles the food again ALL WITHOUT WASHING HIS HANDS NOR using gloves!!!!!!!! GROSS!!! I thought if you handled food you were to use gloves AND a hair net??? The kitchen cooks DONT even use hair nets!!! DISGUSTING!!!! He yells at his staff!! Embarrassing!! OVERPRICED FOOD AND DRINKS!!! Will take my money elsewhere thank you!

Am a school principal and had a short time for take out, accidentally ordered with bacon and I can not eat bacon, asked to have a new sandwich made, and they said come on back, I drove all the way back with the sandwich and apologized for my mistake only to be verbally complained to by the owner, he said he was "losing a fortune over this". I backed out calmly, left the sandwich and had no refund. the loss is certainly his as I will never go there again, nor my family, nor anyone I tell. Customer service is important I would have paid for another, just treat me with respect. thanks

They have the best breakfast in town. I watched this restaurant under construction for a long time. It was worth the wait. Since it opened I have never been disappointed, the food is always hot, cooked perfectly and fast. We met the owner on our first visit there. He came to the table to see how everything was and to chat, and have met the rest of the family on subsequent visits. I brought my parents there for breakfast and my mom is hard to please and she had nothing negative to say and enjoyed her meal. The service is friendly and excellent and everyone makes you feel at home.

I am going to bypass every single bad review on here! This place is wonderful! I worked down the street at a Rehab Facility and ate here ofetn for lunch meetings as well as take out for all of my employees. This place never failed. It is SUPER CLEAN which I LOVE in an eating establishment. The staff always super friendly and to the point. The owner always welcome.being and opening the door for everyone, I love how he is available at all times and doesnt sit in an office in the back. If you want great food at a family friendly place, that is CLEAN and well managed. Come here.

OK if your looking for down home cooking its right here! I love going to Madison. I love that the owner Tom and his wife come up to you and get to know you.And you get real bacon and real sausage. They have specials for breakfast that include your coffee for far cheaper then Ihop or Dennys and the food is way better. I like going to a resturant that is clean and you get alot for your money here! The staff are all really nice and I try to get there once a week for breakfast...wish I could go more! Trish
