Had a problem with food that gave me the runs for 5 days. But owner finally refunded my money but Libeled me by saying lies about me here. Imature Owner even makes reply about my age, which is age discrimination very unprofessional and illegal when I had a real problem. Do you really want to risk being treated like this?! Owner first said he was away at a Funeral. It would appear when the Cat is away the Mice play. Here is my original First review. The restaurant is so noisy that makes it hard to talk or hear anyone you are with and makes for a non relaxing meal. I had the pulled pork with crawfish eggs benedict. The Crawfish did not taste fresh and I ended up getting food poisoning later in the day. Had to take 18 IMODIUMS but still had the runs which finally ended this Saturday. My girlfriend had the fried french toast she also got food poisoning later in the day. The fresh squeezed orange juice tasted like it was watered down, half fresh orange juice and half pasteurized (non fresh orange juice). The griddle at my table looked dirty with built up grease all over it, and seemed too low a temperature to safely make the pancakes yourself. When I first contacted the restaurant and when I complained about me and my girlfriend getting sick from their food they hanged the phone up on me two times and were very rude to me. Did not offer to give me any credit for the bad meals until I complained on Yelp. BESIDES PARKING IS ON STREET, AND YOU HAVE TO KEEP CIRCLING AROUND FOR A WHILE UNTIL YOU CAN FIND A PARKING SPOT! FOR BREAKFAST THE PRICES ARE VERY HIGH AND THEY CHARGE FOR THINGS OTHER RESTAURANTS GIVE FOR FREE. PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED THAT THEY HAD TO WAIT FOR 45 MINUTES FOR A TABLE BECAUSE OF VERY LIMITED SEATING. THERE ARE PLENTY OF BETTER AND LESS EXPENSIVE PLACES NEAR BY. Will never go back. BACKWATER LIKE+ ITS NAME IS STAGNANT!

My wife, father-in-law and I went here 2 weeks ago for brunch. I ordered the ochachoki ice cream, but asked for an additional egg and English muffin instead of a biscuit. Well the waitress informed me the couldnt do that, it would be a side item instead. Having been a cook then chef for many years, I asked to speak to the manager as they had English muffins on the menu. He told me they would do it, the way the kitchen was laid out, it would be hard. I asked him if he was kidding me, I just wanted a bread change and all on the same plate. He said no problem, "Now that you and I are friends...". They brought me out 4 sides. The muffins on 1 plate, 2 eggs on another ($5 for 2 eggs alone), sausage on a 3rd plate and the gravy in a bowl. I asked for a large plate and combined them. The food was good, but I didnt expect to pay $ 25 for what was listed at $8.95. Also no ice or straws with the water or juice I ordered. $10 for 2 small glasses of warm OJ. The waitress should at least steer you in the right direction but she was young and inept. I was very disappointed as I had heard it was a great place to take my father-in-law. Rustic.. if you call the rust falling on your plate from the rusted corrugated iron ceiling, and the wooden tables falling apart, held together by too much spar varnish, then I guess so.

Unfortunately the staff was quite RUDE! I arrived just before the rest of my party and it was starting to get busy. I wrote my name on the board to be seated and was told I would be seated when the rest of my party arrived. Really? So 10 people could walk in ahead of me and I would then have to wait for them to finish eating before I could get a table. I explained that they were on their way and would like to be seated now as I am already here. She explains they dont take reservations. I am here, not calling for a reservation. She then asks me why I am being rude? Really? They did seat us, and the rest of my party arrived in less than 5 minutes. Didnt matter, each person I encountered made it very clear they were annoyed with me. Even the rest of my party felt it. At this point hoping my food wasnt tainted. And if you are an employee of Back Water and reading this. Yes my name is Maureen and plan to share my experience with my many friends and acquaintances. You should be more polite to your guests!

This is a novel place for breakfast that will have you talking about it with your family and friends. Without a doubt, if you are in Melbourne and are looking for breakfast this is the place you should visit. Service - while one waiter takes your order the staff works together. The leadership here has created a family environment that delivers great service. Food - we had cheese grits infused with cherries and it was great, both creative and delicious. Likewise, it was well past the holidays and the gingerbread pancakes where amazing. They didnt remind me of Christmas as I suspected. Instead they just tasted hearty and wholesome with a strong sense of cinnamon. Loved the gingerbread pancakes. Innovation - most of the tables have griddles built into the table. So your pancakes are self-made and each one is hot and fresh. The griddle is the gimmick, and it works because its combined with great ingredients and notable service. Nice and clean bathrooms here too.

This little hole in the wall on a side street of downtown Melbourne is a gem. The wait staff is friendly and colorful. The menu is varied and has some creative takes on eggs Benedict in a skillet. The grits were fabulous and they have a few flavored varieties that will temp any grit deniers in your party. The real payoff in this place is the table griddles. They will furnish the little ones with condiment squirters loaded with pancake batter. An ala carte selection of sides such as strawberries, chocolate chips and Gnutella are available to spice up the pancakes. Towards the end of the meal, we make use of the leftover batter to write our names or attempt various artistic renderings. The lines on Saturday and Sunday morning can be long. The griddles challenge the air conditioners during the summer months so be prepared. This is one of the favorites in our weekend breakfast rotation.

I went during their soft opening. So perhaps things will be better in a couple weeks. The inside was decorated pretty neatly. Its like a rustic modern but also southern. Pretty cool. But the AC must have been on the fritz because it was about 84 degrees inside. Everything was cooked to order, which is good, but it also meant that it took over 35 minutes after we ordered to get our food. I ordered the penny stack. 2 pancakes, bacon and eggs. I also ordered a biscuit on the side. The pancakes were great, the bacon was really thick and good. The eggs were about what youd expect. The biscuit was not satisfying. For two and a half bucks I expected something more substantial than what I received. I also ordered an orange juice and it was fresh squeezed which was a nice touch. I think itll be better in the future so Ill probably wait a little bit before I try it again.
