Florida rednecks can cook better. When I go out to eat its for the food not the restaurant "experience". Food and value- Its more like old folks cooking. I went there to try the gator. But, I also tried the fried grouper. I dont think anything was seasoned. Gator bites had less flavor than plain fried chicken. The fried grouper was good, and might have had a weeeee bit of pepper on it. The fries looked good and they even looked seasoned but they werent. What were those dark specs on the fries ?... oh well, for plain old fries they were pretty good. The portion of gator bites was small, but the grouper was a big portion. Over all the food was good, although plain... For the price, I have no reason to drive back out there. Service-Good but it was slow when I went. Atmosphere-Cool I guess, Imagine an outdoor bar that decided it wanted to be restaurant. So it added on to the building around the outdoor part of the bar. Put nick nacks and signs everywhere on top of all the old bar stuff and call it a restaurant. All in all: Would I go back ? 1.If youre buying, yes I would even drive. 2.If I was already out there in B.F.E. and hungry, yes. 3.If Im riding with someone or a group and they decided to head out there, I guess I am...haha 4. Im at home on my computer trying to decide what place to try next ? Nope....unless I have this weird craving for a big hunk of grouper.

To set a couple things straight... the Grooper is NOT the expensive Grouper it is Basa a Vietnamese farm raised white meat catfish and this is a little hole in the wall with an awesome cherry amaretto house dressing that is different and tasty! My bf took me here for my birthday today, if you want class....this is not it, if you like friendly people and dont mind a lot to building that is a bit run down and kept that way to preserve the rustic charm of Old Florida you might just like it here. (Of course. You can sit on the deck if you dont want to be inside) He enjoyed his shrimp Creole and it looked to have a healthy portion of shrimp. I did not fair as well, I had the Louisiana Crab cakes, I did not care for the sauce or the cakes....they had no flavor but were nicely cooked with a crispy crust. The fresh veggies had a ton of black pepper on them and my beer was not really cold. We had the Cracker platter for an appetizer and that was good. I would go back, ya cant like everything lol. Service was friendly and attentive.

The tall blonde that came from behind the bar to seat us genuinely threw the napkin wrapped silverware on the table and flung the paper menu like a frisbee. Im grateful the silverware was wrapped. Dont go for the ambiance. There is N-O-N-E. The food was undercooked. I ordered the crab cake sandwich which did arrive promptly, but the bun was stale so I picked the top layer off. The lettuce and tomato were normal. The cole slaw tasty and the hush puppie was good. But, the center of the crab cake was cold. The potato fries cooked barely 3 minutes were soggy and ....well just dont go. If youre looking for a dumpy biker bar this would insult a true biker! The wait staff and open line cooking area look like they employ transient homeless people. While they are attentive and will be groomed for a real restaurant in the future so good for them~ the entire place is so dirty....if you dont mind eating inside with flies and filth at an incredibly overpriced dump, then go, but you can eat in jail better.

March 2016 - It was a dirty, biker bar-ish seafood shack...and I loved it. The grouper was perfect. If youre expecting a restaurant with date-night ambience, this isnt it. This is back woods fun times at its best. Yes, it is located in the middle of a trailer park - and yes the bathroom is an outhouse called, "the hill", but you would be making a mistake if you judged this book by the cover. 3/23/17 update - I came back, and the experience wasnt quite the same. Our waitress was as unhelpful and unknowledgeable as they come, and the hostess and another waitress were being pissy toward each other. The "oscar" style topping on my grouper was pasty and disgusting. This visit alone would have been 2-3 stars, but I had such a good experience last time, Ill round it out at 4 stars.

I thought that a 4 Star rating listed on the website was enough for me to try this restaurant, driving up from Fort Pierce with my wife and meeting my brother and wife who was to met us there from North Tampa. Luckily we arrived early enough to warn my brother to stop where he was and wed meet at another restaurant. In arriving we were in shock that the location was in a run down, dirty, unpaved single wide mobile park! We looked at the building and first thought it was a bait and tackle shack, and not even one car near it, (we arrived at 11:15 am). Sorry Cherry Pocket, but we never even made it to the front door; thank God! And the comment that it was on the lake is not true. It was more near a marshy boat launch.

My wife and I went over Friday afternoon, our first time. We were there for something to do. It was great. Drink specials, appetizers, atmosphere, nothing less than I expected. Went back today with the rest of the family for dinner. Again, it was great. We had the raw oysters starter, various grouper plates and my wife had the catfish. She hates catfish and after eating her food said,"not sure why I hated catfish, this was great." If you are looking for an out of the way place with a relaxed atmosphere that has ice cold beer and decent food, friendly staff at a reasonable price, this is your place. If your looking for Ruths Criss, this is not your place.

Went on a Monday, we were the only ones there, ask the watiress what was good on the meun, she pointed out the keywest cat fish on dirty rice, we orderd green beans, and french fries, the fries were over cooked, green beans were so nasty had to spit them out, rice was so bad thought they scooped it out of the mop bucket, fish was over cooked, felt sick the rest of the night, got up and left the food there! While walking out side to leave we noticed the slop truck was there park in the front, i said thats ironic, he came to the right place , the place is nasty out side, and inside, needs to be torn down, looks like a nice front for a drug deals!

Atmosphere was excellent.... very much the "Florida Fish Camp" experience most folks enjoy. A very diverse and unique menu with "something for everybody". Taste of our food was OK; but many of the different fried items tasted the same. Some of the fish was undercooked. The Steak Diane was a great cut of beef, but there was no sauce as advertised/traditional. Would have loved to have loved our evening more because our expectations were high based on atmosphere. Unfortunately the food was lacking in some important ways.

The food was good but the bartender and waitresses were bitches and mean as a snake. The decore was old, and I dont mean in a historic way. Just the dust on the ceiling fans made me wonder how clean the kitchen was. It was obvious that the place was popular amongst the people that frequent the place yet obvious that the owner choses greed over his customer base because the place is falling apart literally. Ill never go back...ever
