Drove out of our way on vacation to go here based on others posting and online reading. The atmosphere is very old school bar, eclectic vacation vibe. Bar looked fun and would be a great place to stop for a drink. ( if you are not driving!!!!!!) We sat on the rail to watch the fish. Had a waitress who said they call me " Grandma." Nice, but not very attentive. We ordered the fish sandwich, which was very average. Frozen and deep fried. We also ordered the nachos with grilled chicken. Nachos were red white and blue (nice touch) but were VERY STALE and obviously straight from a huge surplus box. Melted cheese wiz type cheese was just poured all over. Gross! Grilled chicken was nothing special, full of gristle, no flavor. Sour cream in tiny cups was the best part of the meal. Tiny cup of salsa was full of more onions than tomatoes. It was $25 for one sandwich with fries, nachoes and two glasses of water. Grandma did not bring our food out, another server did and then we never saw her again until we needed to go asking for the check. No napkins or silverware either. Found a roll of paper towels on the next table. They use these in place of napkins. On the way to the bathroom I saw the kitchen staff eating lunch ( it was 230 when we stopped) and they were eating take out from some where else! Place was very dirty, lots of cleaning supplies, shop vac, power washer sitting out with so much clutter. I can imagine what the kitchen looks like. Should have looked around more before sitting down to order. Too bad, this is probably old school Florida before the big resorts moved in. They need to take some pride in their heritage and clean up the place and bring the menu up to simple, good clean food. Skip this place on the way to the keys.

This was my very first time here, boyfriend pre-empted me as this is a bikers bar but has really good food. To be honest I have no idea what that was supposed to mean, I saw tons of families, they had live music and a adorable old lady would dance time to time with her grand daughter I assume. I did saw a couple of bikers here and there but overall felt like a old fashion americana restaurant, the wait was long to the point my patient boyfriend became inpatient and we had the kids so even more. There is no host is just the servers would get you from the line. Once sited there is plenty of fishy options, I wanted to try the dish they are know for so we got Conch Fritters also got my hands on the Spring Rolls with shrimp and crab and boyfriend attack a Mahi Mahi Reuben, kids well they are kids just some mozzarella sticks and fries. Everything was good I really fall in love of the Conch Fritters, it was my first time tasting them and Im sold! The spring rolls where really good as well I dipped them in all the sauces we got and boyfriend devour his reuben in seconds so I assume it was to die for. As far as service she did forgot and item but we where so full we didnt care. She was fast but no smile, I get it is Sunday and you guys are packed but a smile has never killed anyone. The restrooms where my biggest nightmare not only we stand in line but they where really unclean and wet to say the least. But overall it was a nice experience.

Our first stop on our three day "Key Lime Everything Driving Tour" of the Florida Keys. I am so happy we took the little Card Sound Road and stopped here instead of the well beaten highway. It is busy as all get out here, with limited parking. But we were able to walk in and immediately pull up a seat at the bar to order some of their famous conch fritters to go and have a few drinks while we waited. We had planned to stay and eat our little lunch there, but an accident and back up on the road put us considerably behind schedule in our drive. The bartender was totally supportive of our desire to take a to go order, and came back several times to check if we needed refills. There was a live band (two guys playing - but they sounded great, and I dont even normally like country music), and boats coming up and down the channel. The couple next to us wanted to order a conch fritter appetizer but was a bit turned off by the price - to which the bartender responded that theirs were indeed the best conch fritters in all of the Keys. They truly were the best conch fritters Ive ever had and worth every penny (they are very large too - so enough to feed two - four people). Stopping here really put us in the "Key" island time mood. We look forward to going back.

Horrible experience. Wait staff was terrible. Not sure if we were to be seated or should we grab our own table. Turns out it was the latter. In short, we didnt have a waitress. I grabbed a menu from another table. After 10 minutes, I flagged down a server, and he got us a waitress. We ordered, and it took another 25 minutes. We ordered the platter for two, which included a large conch fritter, fish nuggets, crab cakes, peel and eat shrimp, and fried shrimp. $35. Not good, felt a little nauseas afterwards. Oh, and IT WAS HOT AND STUFFY INSIDE THE SHACK. Thats what it is... a shack. There wasnt any air conditioning. A couple of fans were in the back for the customers who were regulars. I would have killed for a ceilling fan. And the chairs were like the backyard lawn chairs that your grandma would have. Small black birds and flies swarmed on the tables were patrons left food. Just not a good experience. Went on a Sunday afternoon. The only reason we went there was because everyone was telling me, "Man, you gotta check out Alabama Jacks." I thought it was part of the Key West experience (on your way out). Perhaps it was nice 30 years ago. Very disappointing.

Home Chef Bob Restaurant Reviews ALABAMA JACKS So this is Alabama Jacks famous for all their seafood grub. That was me mumbling as I stepped away from our car. I couldn’t wait to try this place out in the middle of No Man’s Land while staying in the Florida Keys. I immediately snapped a few photos of the outside before walking in to be seated. Luckily the place wasn’t crowded and we were able to sit anywhere we wanted. Our waitress took our drink order which was Raspberry Iced Tea as she handed us the menus. Both the wife and I decided on the Small Seafood Sampler consisting of Steamed Shrimp, Fish Fingers, Conch Fritters, 2 Crab Cakes and 3 side dishes of your choice. What a platter of fishiness for the money with everything tasting magnificent. My real enjoyment came eating the massive Conch Fritters that were so crisp to perfection yet soft inside. My only grip would have been the iced tea as it wasn’t that great. This place is everything you read about wrapped in a box. It may not be fancy but you got to admit once you bypass the place itself the food rocks big time.
