They have a decent beer selection and a really friendly staff, and for me the highlight of the place was the self-serve beer taps available at some of the booths. Unfortunately the place was packed to the gills inside, extremely loud, covered with big-screen TVs and loaded with hooting, moderately obnoxious kids (but not way-over-the-top frat boys like Himmarshee Village or the ambulance-chaser lawyers you see at YOLO... These were second-tier douches in training, bearable from a distance in small doses). So we sat outside where it was more relaxed and not super-loud, but unfortunately there are no self-serve taps outside. Im DEFINITELY going to return on a weekday afternoon just to check out the tech behind those self-serve taps - its a beer version of the concept that Vino Venue pulled off with wine in San Francisco. It looks like you can choose from among 4 different beers at your table, and then pour a little to taste or a lot to drink whenever you want, and a digital display right there shows how much has been dispensed and how much you owe. Like a gas station for alcoholics... Its a wonderful gimmick. Im extremely curious about how many beers you can choose from, and if its more than 4, how do they clear out the lines when patrons change their choices? Basic but tasty pub grub. Tuna salad sandwich was delicious. Chicken philly cheesesteak (with honey-mustard sauce - huh?) was very tasty even though Im not usually a huge fan of sweet sauces. Worth a visit, but I recommend a weeknight or an afternoon. And if you want to have much of a conversation with your dinner/drinking mate, its probably not the place for that.

I was at American Social with a group of friends and clients, we go to American Social pretty much every Sunday. This past Sunday I decided that I wanted to get a table and buy a few bottles. I purchased 4 to be exact. Plus someone else had purchased another bottle. So our table had 5 total bottles. The manager that day was Damien. Talk about the worst customer service I have ever experienced. After buying 4 bottles running up a 400 dollar tab, they said my credit card was not going through. I had to walk 3 blocks to the nearest ATM to get cash out. I came back with the cash and the Manager Damien gets in my face about the bill, treating me and my friends like criminals because he thought I was not going to pay the bill. Then after I explained to him that his system kept declining my card and I had to go withdraw cash , he didnt even have the decency to apologize. I called my credit card company the next day to see why my card was not going through and my bank told me that the charge was not ever presented and that they did not decline the transaction. Talk about being embarrassed in front of my clients and friends! I WILL NEVER EVER GIVE MY MONEY AND BUSINESS TO AMERICAN SOCIAL. I WILL NEVER WALK INTO THAT PLACE AGAIN. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! SPECIALLY IF DAMIEN IS MANAGING THAT DAY!

I like American Social. I really do. But, yesterday afternoon, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. I was there with friends, including a service dog (who is not involved in the story) so we elected to be seated outside. Very pleasant, usually. But, on this occasion, at a table for one, placed one inch from the front door, sat a large man, nursing a glass of water while bumming cigarettes from passersby. He then proceeded to smoke cigarettes, annoying every patron sitting outside, all the while continuing to nurse his glass of water. At one point, he got up from the table and shambled off, much to the delight of the waitstaff, but, while one server was cleaning an adjoining table, your adopted mascot returned and was rude to the young lady because she was in his way. Im not insensitive to the plight of the socially awkward, but, at some point the manager should have repositioned this individual to a less central location, or asked him to leave altogether. As uncomfortable as it may be to deal with these situations, its kind of the managers responsibility, right?

I love this place. Its the best bar in South Florida by far. The only competition this place has is with its other location, I believe its in Brickell. The drinks are awesome and they have some awesome deals throughout the week. The happy hour deals they offer are pretty darn good too. Its a great place to come grab a drink after work. Hands down one of the best service staffs I have ever encountered, very polite and attentive. Your drink glass will never be empty. The food at this place is out of this world. Its literally is on a different level. Anything I have ever had there was fantastic and very reasonably priced!! AMSO as they like to be called has done everything right in my book and I will be back as soon as I am off work tonight!! Dont forget to check the brunch out. I went there one time for brunch and it was pretty busy but its well worth it. All you can eat and drink every thing made to order right in front of you!! Dont take my word for it just go check it our for yourself..

We stopped at the place for the beer menu, but the food was horrible. It wasnt worth the stop at all. There are so many other places where you can get a good beer that you dont need the horrible food that accompanies it. The fries that I had tasted like they were made by pretty much anybody, they were just a bag of frozen french fries sprinkled with some Kraft Parmesan Cheese. The Spinach and artichoke dip was the only that I have ever seen left on a table unfinished (Mind you there was six of us eating at the time). The Lobster Mac and Cheese was nearly inedible despite our server raving about it. I guess the pedestrian food pleases the frat boy crowd there, but if its beer list wasnt so great it would be a no star place and a definite pass. Go there to drink but get your food somewhere else.

On the night 12/18/15, my coworker and I went for a drink. Three men came up to us and very nicely we said we were not interested. One man that was exceptionally drunk got angry and started blurting out insults. We told him to please just leave us alone. He threw his shot of fireball all over my friends shirt, laughed and walked away. We immediately asked for a manager who seemed as though he was going to do something until he realized the drunk man was his friend. He did absolutely NOTHING. The fact that this establishment allowed something like this to occur was not only disgusting but absolutely unprofessional. I will never give them my business again and I will surely spread the story to others. What a disappointment.

We were just walking down the street near the River Walk and asked a few people where they recommended we go to eat. All three people suggested American Social. The food was fantastic! I had the veggie burger (homemade, not those frozen things), others in my group had beef burgers (forgot the exact name of it) and we were all blown away by the flavor and perfection. The staff was fantastic and went out of their way to help with anything. The manager stopped by and was extremely approchable and a great listener. He even had good suggestions for us to to while we ticked away our 10 hr. layover. If I find myself in Ft. Lauderdale again, I will certainly be back.
