I stayed at Pier House 60 Marina Hotel in June for my wedding. I am giving 2 stars because the hotel was nice, very clean, and the location was great BUT our wedding weekend was nearly ruined by our stay at this hotel. Before I begin, I would like to note that Kelsey at the front desk, the night security guard, and the security guard from the nearby Holiday Inn were very apologetic and tried their best to help us in any way that they could. I think the problem is MANAGEMENT, not necessarily the hotel staff! Throughout our ordeal we NEVER saw or spoke to a manager and a manager was supposed to contact us after we requested a refund but never did. In total we booked 4 nights in 1 room, 2 nights in a separate bridal party room, and our guests booked 2 rooms also. The first night was great but the second night, my husband and I returned to the hotel from our rehearsal dinner to find that we were locked out of our room. The room key would not work at all. After MULTIPLE trips down to the lobby and the night security guard trying to use master keys, we were told that we would have to wait for a person from another hotel to come and use a tool to open our door from the outside. When the man arrived from another hotel, he tried his master keys which didnt work and said he would have to go back to the other hotel to get a tool to open the door. This was the night before our wedding so my (soon to be) husband and his best friend from college were planning to go out and have a drink but instead we were all stuck sitting in the hall of the hotel for 2 hours. When we FINALLY got into our room, they promised to have the card reader fixed first thing the next morning. The next day (our wedding day), we returned to the hotel around 11pm to find that we were locked out of our room AGAIN. Our friends that were also staying at the hotel were already at the rooftop bar waiting for us. This time, we waiting for an hour in the hallway in our wedding attire for our door to be unlocked, again by the man from another hotel. The girl in the lobby said there was only 1 other empty room in the hotel and she needed to wait for approval to move us there but gave us a voucher for a free drink at the bar. After getting into our room, we changed clothes, and had to leave our hotel door propped open so that we wouldnt get locked out again while we joined our friends at the bar. The lobby called when we got back to our room and said that they had assigned us another room. We went down to the lobby and got the new room keys but decided to move all of our stuff to the new room in the morning because we were EXHAUSTED by that point. In the morning (our last day in Clearwater), we packed up all of our luggage and my husband took 2 big suitcases and headed up to the new room while I sat in the old room with our stuff so we wouldnt get locked out AGAIN. When my husband used the key to open the new room, there was a family of 4 inside. They had somehow double booked the room. At this point we were getting very upset...my husband had to drag our suitcases BACK to the lobby and tell them what was happening. Meanwhile, our friends (who traveled 10 hours to be there) were waiting for us to go get breakfast while we were STILL STUCK in our room so we wouldnt get locked out! This time in the lobby my husband requested a refund because we had been very nice about the whole deal but felt that no one had tried to accommodate us or make up for the fact that we had been unable to leave our hotel room without being locked out during our entire wedding weekend. We were put in a new room and told that a manager would be contacting us about our refund request....we were never contacted. IF we were contacted, I would not have written this review but since we never heard from anyone, I would like for others to be warned before visiting this hotel. We paid $1,500 for our rooms and also had 2 friends book rooms there so I feel like we should have been accommodated better. Unfortunately when we return to Clearwater for our anniversary, we will NOT be staying at Pier House 60.

I, and my mother, were just moments ago escorted from the property. I thought I would start there to get your attention. I discovered after getting into my hotel room that several social media/dating websites that were gay/queer based were blocked through the hotels internet provider. Now I have NEVER, in traveling by car staying in lots of hotels through 49 US states and 6 Candian provinces, encountered censorship through hotel websites, NEVER. But for the hell of it I checked some others that are designed for the same reason: social networking and meeting people. Facebook: check. ChristianMingle: Check. So I upon leaving I asked for a manager and began to describe the situation and why I felt it was unacceptable. The manager listened, I did get a smile when I complimented her on her management neutral affect as she listened. When she began to speak, she started with "We are a family hotel" to which I interrupted, "Am I not a family? I am here with my mom, she and I are family." She repeated herself, I stepped back and said, "So family equals queer based censorship?" a little louder then we had been speaking. She asked me to leave and called an escort to take me off the property. I left the lobby loudly saying, "Homophobia is unacceptable anywhere!" At that point my mother had entered the lobby and attempted to take over the conversation because she was surprised that a) this whole situation was happening and b) I was being escorted out. While I was not there for the whole interaction I know that my mother was in the next elevator down (aka no more then 2-3 minutes had elapsed) because she had also been asked to leave the property. If you stay at this hotel you are supporting censorship. If you stay at this hotel you are supporting a management team that believes queer people are not/do not have families. If you stay at this hotel you are supporting a management team that can not be critiqued without feeling "threatened" and kicking paying customers off the property before check out time. If you stay at this hotel, you are supporting hate and prejudice and oppression. Please dont. To all the front workers at this hotel who may have had to implement these horrific decisions and policies, know this is not about you, I wish you the best of luck in finding an accepting place to work.

This is the first bad review I have ever wrote here is my experience.... Me and my fiance live in Orlando and we took a trip friday, Feb 12th 2016 to clearwater beach. It took us 2 and a half hours to drive there and we spoke with someone from pier house 60 marina hotel who informed us we could stay in a standard room for 189.99 for the night. We really enjoyed the pictures of the place and the price so we decided to head there. I arrived there at 6pm and was greeted by someone other then I spoke with on the phone and he told me the standard room would be $209.99 plus tax for the night. We already drove the whole way there and i decided to just pay the extra $20 but i would not pay more then $210 for one night at this hotel. It is DECENT at best but not top of the line. Now mind you i get a room with no balcony and a view of a hotel being built next door so at 6 am we get woken up by the heavy construction. When we go to check out at 10:30 am the following morning the young girl at the counter wants me to sign a paper for $252. They added $15 parking fee plus $15 on the beach tax ( which it is not on the beach). I made sure to ask the guy twice what the total would be before going to my room and he stated just the $210 plus a $25 incidental fee that would be credited back if nothing was damaged. They charged my card $262 dollars and i was upset. When trying to get an explanation the girl at the counter was EXTREMELY rude and talking to me like i was stupid in front of other people. She states that i will get $10 back because 15 of the $25 incidental fee goes to parking. There staff is extremely young and although upon arrival they were nice, leaving i was treated very bad. I am very unhappy for getting charged almost $300 for one night at this hotel. So 262 bucks for 1 night and a view of construction workers in an average hotel and belittled when questioning the charge. The next time i go to clearwater i will go to shephards and you should do the same! I did not even ask for a manager because i was so upset. I will dispute with my card company I was lied too and feel cheated. Do not choose this hotel unless you want to be charged an absurd amount of money that you did not agree to.
