We found this place via GROUPON Special. However, as soon as we tried to place our order, the waiter told us that we could NOT have any fish dishes (such as Peruvian Seviche) with the Groupon Special ticket. He also informed us that the drinks were not included in the Groupon "special". Now that our menu choice has been narrowed down to chicken or steak, we selected steak. The steak arrived at the table luke warm!!! Clearly this meat had been pre-cooked, then shoved into the microwave oven to "warm up" a little. Because of this, I had a very hard time to cut the steak, it was tough! Then we ordered a Peruvian Pisco Sour drink. When it arrived at the table - it tasted not the "bad", but "horrible", the WORST Pisco Sour Ive ever had! In order to still get to the $ 50.00 Groupon "value", we had to order 2 pollo saltado meals to take home. They would not scratch the horrible tasting Pisco Sour from the bill ($ 7.00), which just further added to the very poor customer service practices in that place. I also heard employees arguing with each other. We will definitely NOT go back to "Los Portales" in Casselberry Florida!!! Even though we were there on a Saturday night, the place was EMPTY - no wonder! Next time well try some Peruvian Food 2 doors down - that place was packed, the name of that restaurant is El Buzo Restaurant in Casselberry Florida... PS: The next day we opened the 2 boxes with the 2 meals we took home from Los Portales, and we found a HUGE difference in the size of menus! I dont know if they have 2 cooks or what the deal is. One pollo saltado had a lot of chicken, onion, red peppers and rice, while the 2nd box was filled HALF with JUST French fries, a tiny little bit of meat and the same amount of rice! Talk about extreme inconsistency - this is it !!!! We will NEVER go back to Los Portales in Casselberry Florida, we feel RIPPED OFF!!! We will try to get our MONEY BACK from Groupon AND we will further report this horrible experience of Los Portales to the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU !!! Plain and simple - this restaurant does NOT deserve to be business, due to MISS-LEADING advertisement, unfriendly service, inconsistency in portion size etc etc etc.... A VERY DISAPOINTED First Time Customer...

After a change of management (if I recall correctly), this restaurant/bar has gone a bit south. My family used to always go to this restaurant a lot, but things sure have changed here. This restaurant is no longer Colombian or Peruvian, there have been some further additions (which I think are great) including Puerto Rican dishes (like Mofongo), and theyve expanded into Dominican food as well. A welcoming change, but theyre lacking in the traditional style of the restaurant. The last few times I went, they serve you a hot sauce on the side when you order a ceviche, its not a sauce that normally goes with a ceviche, and although it isnt bad, its just not as good as the traditional cuisine, seems like a change in ingredients; it tastes different and Im not too sure about it. What really bothers me, personally, is the choice of taking out certain traditional dishes from the menu. For instance, I personally love Papa a la Huancaina (Peruvian dish), but they removed it from the menu. I asked one of the servers if they still served it, she told me "no" to my dismay :(. The server who attended me did offer to make me it off the menu, and I was definitely pleased. The servers are very kind ladies, and they say hello and enjoy themselves while working, which is always good. The decor is basically the same as it was, even after a change of hands in management; I actually hadnt known that the restaurant was no longer owned by the previous owner, until my father told me. After a lot of personal accounts between family and a handful of friends, the restaurants food is no longer as good as it once was in its prime. The servers or waiters (however youd like to address them as) are respectful and bright which takes away from the changes. The decor is similar, so not much of a change there. After going to the restaurant a few times a month with the family years ago, and going alone, that has changed to my family rarely going, and Ive only gone about twice this entire year. Things need to improve, and I sure hope they do.

Let me begin by saying that we came at almost midnight to the restaurant. The first thing of course that we noticed about a mile away was how loud the music was. It was not suitable for a restaurant we could not even hear our waiter from 5 inches away. I do not recommend this place for a family setting knowing the loudness of the music and the clublike setting. Onto the actual food: the Lomo saltado and the Peruvian cevuche lacked so much of anything it was incredibly disappointing. The Lomo had no flavor and was awfully bland and the rice was plain. The ceviche did not have enough lime and tasted watered down. The only thing going for the food was the hot sauce which could be to give the food at least something of a zest or punch or anything. I wouldve given the restaurant a one star rating were it not for the great service by our waiter. He knew the circumstances of the music, seated us furthest from the speakers, checked up on us a perfect amount of time and led us out of the restaurant. Could not ask more from a waiter and he did an amazing job. Unfortunately for the restaurant as a whole it was pretty bad; 2/5 stars. Tldr; ridiculously loud music, bad food, good waiter. So pretty bad 2/5

Took advantage of a group on. Of course never had a problem with Groupon. However, sign clearly states sit yourselves. So we sit and wait and wait and wait 15 minutes into waiting which was longer that I wait, they realize we do not have menus, they come over give us menus but no drink orders taken. Again we wait and wait and wait. Tired of waiting we get up and leave. The only reason I put this is due to the fact I walked in the music was so loud you could barely have a conversation with someone at your table. Another table that came in after us was waited on first before us. I never told them I had a group on so I know this was not the issue. I will never return, Was the worse experience I had in the restaurant industry. Also Heads up when you walk up two doors there is a sign on one of there restaurants/bars NO GANG COLORS.Oh oh dont go back.
