3.5 stars - it felt as if we traveled to a small town in Italy for authentic local pastas. The menu offered half a dozen of seasonal pastas and allowed for half portions if ordering two. Each person in my group selected his/her own combo and as a group sampled the entire pasta menu. I personally went with lamb ragu gnocchi and butternut squash cappallacci while my husband went with their pork belly carbonara and seafood tagliatelle. While we waited for our pastas, we were given a complimentary arancini to start and also shared an order of their house made eggplant burrata. Both the starters were beyond scrumptious. Along with their complimentary bread basket, I was already stuffed from appetizers + bread alone. Then came the pastas - first impression - the portion was twice the size as we had anticipated; we would had been more than satisfied by one half portion alone - oops. But the pastas were too good to "save" for later, the gnocchi was pillowy soft + melt in my mouth good, the butternut squash cappallacci - although a bit cold and undercooked, I couldnt say no to anything made with butternut squash. I somehow found myself polishing the bowls and plates. Goodbye summer beach body, well try again next year. Even though my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the food, the service left much to desire. The wait staffs were extremely pushy especially when it came to clearing the table and serving the next course. We had to ask multiple times to please dont take the plate of unfinished food away. It was clear we were still working on our first course. I understand that they didnt want the freshly made pastas to sit and get cold, but I wished they would tone down their aggressive approach/time management. We all felt rushed and uncomfortable. Overall - a great option for yummy Italian food!

One of the best under the radar places for Italian in DC, Hidden in the Business district, Siroc offers very good quality, upscale Italian cuisine thats quite affordable. Pasta is made in-house here and the Chef shows good imagination in pulling tasty ingredients together cohesively. Another nice touch is that most pastas are available as a 1/2 portion, I often get a 1/2 portion as a starter, them choose a non-pasta as my entree (although I love the burrata and smoked salmon appz here if available). Theres really no slouches on the menu. I do heart the Lamb Shank w/ Eggplant (sort of deconstructed version, give it a try) entree, its never left the menu since they opened. Desserts are quite good as well. I especially love their Warm Almond Cake, thats paired with a seasonal Zabaglione sauce and topping (in winter, its often a Cinnamon Zabaglione with Blueberry topping -- excellent). All dishes have good plating here (i.e. nice presentation). Nice selection of Italian-emphasized wines, many by-the-glass options in the $9 - 13 range (many right around $10), Lunch is also good here. More pasta and sandwich-based. Even these dishes have a nice touch and presentation to them. The front of the house is managed actively by the Owners. Service here is formal yet pleasant, theyre trained well. Give this place a try. In this part of town, Siroc (Italian / Mediterranean) and Mio (Puerto Rican / South American) are the 2 best options for dining by far. But theres a special appreciation for Siroc.

Ive never intentionally dined at one restaurant three times in one week until I went to Siroc Restaurant! This intimate spot in McPherson Square can be missed if youre not paying attention, however, once you experience their offerings youll never forget and youll want to take a friend. If youre looking for perfect bolognese, youve found it. The Fettuccine Bolognese is by far the best in DC. Everything on their menu is made from scratch--including the pasta. Normally, the chef prepares a complimentary tasting option at the start of your dinner service. Be open to the presentation. Dont skip the house-made spicy lamb sausages to start. If you want to push your experience into a new realm, try the house Lemoncello. Thats a great party/convo starter! The wine selection is superb too.

My friend and I ate during restaurant week 2010. We had reser vations on a Sunday night. The menu looked superb, it was our first time and we were very excited. The first course was good but we were quickly dissapointed when our entrees arrived. The portions were on the smaller side and we were definitely not full when we left. The taste didnt match up with the "superb" menu. We were never asked during the entire meal how our dinner was. When telling the manager as we left that our experience was just "ok" he quickly changed the subject and did not address our comment. Our waitress was modest at best. She did not fit the caliber of service of this kind of restaurant and did not make us feel very welcomed. We are sadly dissapointed and will not be going back again.

Well being from NJ and being around good italian food.. I was ready for the challenge... 1st nice atmosphere... waitress service was very attentive... looking at menu it was completely different from up north, but trying with open mind... For starters veal shortbreat delicious, and the cesear salad was to die for... With a touch of cesear dressing in there unique way preparing the salad was delicious... Entre of beef tenerloin cooked to perfection and the veal & eggplant lasanga was awesome... Making room for the warm almond cake with a side of vanilla ice cream completed the meal..... Best of luck on your restaurant was a different awesome experience,,, Will be back for sure... thanks to others for your good reviews, that is the only reason i went...

A disappointing experience. The service was painfully slow at lunch and the food was utterly mediocre. The "pancetta, sweet onions and crushed tomatoes" accompaniment to the penne I ordered turned out to be an ordinary tomato sauce with bits of unidentifiable solids, reminiscent of the side dish of pasta a chain restaurant would serve along with your warmed-over veal parmesan. Cross this one off the list!

After spending the day walking the mall we decided on Siroc for our dinner. Sitting outside was beautiful and the service was very attentive. While the appetizers were very good, the waitress forgot our requests but once reminded it was fine. Sadly the entrée was not very good and I was disappointed. If you are going to visit this restaurant I suggest you go with the special or choose another location.

Just had the worst table service ever. Asked about a salad on the menu and got a three word response. Had to get up and track someone down for salt and pepper. Waited for simple food quite a while and never heard "would you like more bread?" Fettecini Bolonese was more like Hungarian goulash. Just no engagement by wait staff on not a busy night. Better luck to you, but I wont be there.

I enjoyed my meal. I think i could have done a better job ordering - I had the salad with the mangoes and the candied pecans and it was just a bit too sweet. However, the potato gnocchi with the pistachios and pears was really really good! It was a very interesting and fun summer flavor combination without being too heavy. Id definitely order it again.

Great service, reasonable prices for the area, warm and friendly staff. We were looking for a good place to celebrate our anniversary date and this was perfect. Their interior and lighting is good too. They even served us a special dessert with a candle on it when they found out it was our anniversary. All in all a wonderful experience.
