A nice little neighborhood gem. My only complaint is the food is expensive for a suburban restaurant, but its near Maple Lawn which is overpriced and its definitely worth it in the end. Food: The pizza is awesome! Not your fu-fu-healthy pizza, but your pizza-oven-baked-NY-thin-style-grease-on-top type of pizza. Its the kind of pizza that you load parmesan cheese on top to absorb that awesome pepperoni oil layer on top, fold in half and plow into your mouth faster than the molten cheese can sear to the roof of your mouth. The gnocchi has the taste and texture of being freshly, handmade, its light and soft as you chew, not overdone on the flour ratio. The marinara sauce is great, so it goes well with the meatballs, Italian sausage or anything else. In certain dishes the marinara tastes different, so its not like an Olive Garden where everything tastes the same (since their marinara is in all the tomato-based dishes). Some dishes tast like the sauce might be made fresh with each serving. My wife said the salmon was overcooked, but if you still want to get it, you can always ask to have it cooked less if you like your salmon soft and buttery.

We had an extended family reunion dinner at this restaurant. There was plenty of seating available on the Friday night after Thanksgiving, and our server very responsively helped us to relocate when it became obvious that our table couldnt easily seat nine adults and an infant. Our server was very friendly and sincere and kept us updated on when our food was getting ready. The only issue we had was that the kitchen couldnt get everybodys food ready together: one persons stromboli came first; a few minutes later a 14" pizza came; by the time the stromboli got cold and the pizza was halfway finished, everybody elses food started to arrive. (The silver lining was that the infants parents ordered the 14" pizza, so they got to eat first and keep the baby entertained and calm for the rest of the dinner.) This restaurant could probably earn a higher service rating when handling a smaller group gathering, or for a group that simply orders pizzas.

Found J&P Italian Restaurant last night in Scaggsville, great atmosphere, a place to go watch the game with the family. They do alot in the community helping schools raise money. Not just the good food but kid friendly and great prices. We all went home with leftovers the portions were big. They had a guy Frank playing guitar and singing on a Saturday night. Everyone loved it. The Gondala boats and Chicken marsala were delicious. But I could have stayed with Appetizers the whole night they were so good. We will definetly be back. Loved it.

Wow -- this experience was depressing. Went with two kids., ordered their meals immediately because we knew they were hungry. First food didnt arrive until 45 minutes later, and it was the adult appetizers. First childrens food arrived 70 minutes after arrival. Food was okay -- neither good nor bad. If it arrived within 20 minutes I would give 3 stars. Will not return.

Its okay. Thats the best way to describe J&P. The food is good, not bad, but not superb. The interior ambiance of the restaurant isnt bad, but nothing extraordinary. Service could be better and Im not a fan of the management who has rushed me and my company out of the restaurant before it was time to close-- something no restaurant should ever do.

The pizza has an inviting aroma, but that’s where the great review stops. If you like grease and typical grocery retail ingredients, then this place is for you and you will be rewarded with a regretful aftertaste. I just don’t understand the positive ratings, unless they come from the employees.

Probably the best NY style pizza in the Laurel area. Sauce is slightly on the salty size but the crust is very good. You will end up paying a lot more than a chain, but its definitely superior.

Great Pizza. Very similar flavor texture to Pizza we had in Staten Island. Closest thing to New York style pizza aside from making the 4 1/2 hour drive there.
