THIS PLACE IS TRASH. DO NOT GO HERE! If I could give this place zero stars I would. When I was getting ready to place my order, I was hardly even acknowledged. I ordered the general tsos chicken and it tasted exactly like the orange chicken. There was more breading and sauce then there was chicken. And The chicken itself had a very bad texture and was not appetizing at all. The rice was extremely bland, and for the price I paid I couldve eaten more and had better food at panda express, or even the food court in any shopping mall. The tea kettle they brought for us wasnt clean at all, and my fork wasnt either. There was also a brown speck stuck in between the fork, so obviously they dont do dishes very well. I peeked into the kitchen and was absolutely disgusted. Poorly maintained, and definitely far from clean. The mere sight of the kitchen made me want to throw up. I paid 16.45, which was far too expensive for what I received. When she gave me my check, she said "make sure to leave a tip", as if I were obligated to do so considering the service I recieved. I was stared down when I received my change, and when I proceeded to walk out one of the servers chased me out of the store demanding a tip. She gave me and my friend a demeaning stare and made us feel like we obligated to put more than a dollar (and that was us being polite). She raised her voice at us just yelling "fifteen percent!". This same server was the same person who sneezed in their hands and then gave a different group their menus. Ive never been more unsatisfied in my life at any food service establishment. Even if I dont enjoy a place, it is very seldom I write a bad review - but this place was genuinely the worst place Ive ever been too. I decided to try something new, and ended up longing for McDonalds. Avoid at all costs.

I was first introduced to New Big Wong a few years ago. I believe I went there in January of 2006 on the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. Since then I have been back on and off about 5 times. Each time I found the food to very tasty and fresh. I recently went back to New Big Wong bringing friends. Before I decided to bring my friends to New Big Wong I checked out the reviews online. I was quite surprised to see the negative reviews and a little suspicious. This was not the experience I had. Whenever I have gone to the restaurant I found the staff friendly, efficient, competent, and helpful. I never experienced the bad things the other "reviewers" have claimed. Needless to say I was wary about bringing my friends after reading the reviews. What if I was wrong and they were right? In the end I decided to use the "Go with what you know" philosophy. Im happy to say we had a very good meal. We all enjoyed the food. We all ate vegan options although in the past I have eaten the seafood and meat entrees. Once again I was not disappointed. New Big Wong is not a fancy restaurant. It has good food and low prices. All the food is fresh and well prepared. Whenever I have been there I see people from China and Taiwan enjoying the food. I reccomend New Big Wong.

DO NOT EAT HERE. I went there for lunch on a weekday and I should have known from the start that it would not be a good experience. The waitresses looked like they hadnt showered in a while and the lighting was dark and it just seemed unclean. The food was mediocre but thankfully cheap. I had maybe two bites of my food and just came to terms with the fact that I wasnt going to eat a good lunch. The second we asked for the check the BIGGEST COCKROACH I honestly have ever seen crawled up the wall. The woman who was right next to it screamed bloody murder and I dont blame her. The waitress took care of the situation way too comfortably as if she has had to before. Within a minute she grabbed a chair, squished the ginormous bug and wiped the wallpaper and walked away. There was no apology or even no sense of surprise from the waiters and waitresses. It was gross beyond belief and I will never step foot in there again or let anyone I know go in there. We told patrons outside to enter at their own risk. I never go on to review restaurants unless it was an amazing experience or in this case a horrible horrible one. I have no idea how this place has so many "excellent" reviews. I am truly baffled.

This place is bleh. I will never return. Ive been to a few Chinatowns (Chicago, NY, the ones in California) and this one by far the worst Chinatown, EVER!! My boyfriend and I were there for a Wizards game at the Verizon Center, which is nearby. We thought we might want to grab a bite in Chinatown before we head into the 2-3 game and spend ridiculous dollars for hot dogs and nachos at the stadium. We strolled around and decided to settle here because it doesnt look very crowded (which is something you never do, no business means they are not on par, right?). We ordered a salty fish chicken fried rice and (tried to be adventurous) snails with black bean paste (think escargot but with the shell and you have to figure out how to get the snail out from its shelter to eat it). Fried rice was alright, but we literally spent most of our time trying to figure out how to eat the snails. Price was not okay for the food we had. It was $40+ for two plates of food. I am guessing we are paying for the location/rent so I will let this go. Next time I will just get a chipotle-to-go before the game. I am slowly losing hope for this already-sloppy-Chinatown in DC.

I would never return to this place. The food was terrible, "general tsos" chicken that looked exactly like the orange chicken that was served to us, was basically all breading and no actual meat. Our server made an error and overcharged my receipt, rather than fix it and bring a new receipt she demanded $16.45 from me (all I ordered was the general tsos chicken) insisting that was the correct total and shed fix it in the back. Very sketchy if you ask me. Ive worked as a server and usually tip 20% minimum but decided that her blantant disrespect did not warrant any tip. After collected our receipts from the table, she came back to confront me about not tipping (something Id never ever do when I served). She left the receipt on the table expecting me to add a tip and when she came back for it seeing I didnt add any additional money she gave me a death stare and obviously trash talked about us in her native language. Extremely unprofessional, seems like they consistently bully their customers.

new big mistake!!!!! ordered beef , was chewy and un eatable. chicken was bad as well. chicken lo mein which is the kids favorite was left as is in the plate. horrible bye taste. and the service is straight with no smile .after we asked for the bill and the server saw we left all the dishes UN eaten , she didnt ask why what ..... she was standing behind my shoulder trying to see what tip i am leaving. when she saw that the tip was under 10% (as food and service are bad) she started mumbling and complaining at us. no understanding of customer service. in their world unhappy client must leave nice tip. unbelievable.!!! never again. the ultimate tourist catch. never before i left a negative review on a business , as i know peoples livelihood is to be taken serious. but when you pay hefty prices for BAD food and HORRIBLE service. and then receive "blessings" in Chinese language cause your tip is not high enough ... so i wrote my take on a very poor experience.
