The service is rude, and the cleanliness doubtful. Beans served in a noodle with shredded pork went sour; we asked for a substitute course, and that was pounded onto our table. A request of one extra bowl was simply ignored. Not even to mention the taste of other courses. Absolutely absurd that they should charge a 15 percent mandatory service fee, I would have paid 5 percent or less for their service as an expression of gratitude.

This restaurant discriminates against African Americans. I have tried to ignore the obvious discriminatory practices over the past couple of years but today was unbelievable. I went to the restaurant at 5pm. It was empty. No one was at the door to greet me. Three members of the staff were sleep in the main dining room. I said "excuse me" and they jumped up. No warm greeting was extended. I requested a table as I wanted to dine while reading some work materials. I requested a four top, so I could spread out. The waiter refused; and said he would check with the owner. Two minutes passed, so I moved from the two-top to the four-top next to me. The owner came in, said I could not sit there, and told me to move back to the two top, and that he could not allow me to sit at the four-top. No excuses. No reason. I brought to his attention that the restaurant was empty, and I would only be there an hour. He told me I couldnt, and said I could leave. I handed him my business card and explained that although we order regularly from the restaurant and dine there with my staff. He said it did not matter. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

This place has got to be the worse Sichuan Restaurant out there... for the following reasons: 1. Food is bad, really bad. They come in much smaller portions than all of the Sichuan places I have been to (about 25-50% less). Food is advertised as authentic, but there is nothing authentic about it. 3. Costs of dishes are outrageous. Perhaps this is DC or something.... but everything we got in this place was at least 75-100% more than all other Sichuan places in the country. It seems like every main plate is about $20+ on the menu. A tiny fried fish plate costs $30+?!?!? What? 4. Decor is ridiculous. Small, dirty, and tight. Floor is carpeted and looks like it has never been shampooed.... 5. The Goods: Waiters/waitresses are very attentive. They filled the water and tea frequently. This is extremely rare at Chinese restaurants. The Waiters/Waitresses dont talk at all. I told them "thank you" multiple times but they ignored and walked away.

The food is too expensive for the portion size and far from being "the most authentic chinese food in the US" that they claim to be. We order 5 dishes, 3 of them are too salty and none of them are worth the money. The fish fillet dish has very little fish in it and the pork with fresh chili pepper has way too much pepper which made up more than 3/4 of the dish. They even charged $2 for an extra bowl of rice which is more than most other asian restaurants would charge. What really made us upset is that we were charged 18% gratuity for a party of 5 (4 adults and 1 small child), while it is noted in the menu that a party of 6 or more would be charged a 15% gratuity; either way we should not have been charged 18% which is way too much for their service. We spent more than $100 and we are not even full afterwards. We will never go back.

First I have to say, my boyfriend and I had many many wonderful experiences at Sichuan Pavilion. Its one of the most frequent places we go. But in the most recent time, they used horrible, horrible, low quality, cheap wood ear in my dish. (If youre Chinese, if you know wood ear, then you know what Im talking about. This kind is un-edible.) I tried to talk to them about this in various ways, But they just pretended there was nothing they did wrong at all, and completely ignored me. The waiter said he would go back to talk to the chef, but never got back to me, ever. I never returned dishes in restaurants. All I was looking for was a simple, nice gesture, --an apology. But they just pretended Im transparent.

Absolutely loved it. My girlfriend and I had a strong desire for Chinese and found this in our search. Little did I realize that it had a completely authentic menu from the Sichuan province. It was like being back in China again for me. The service was fantastic and extremely prompt. The food was top notch as well. We ended up getting the Chicken with Dry Chilis, Duck, String Beans and Beef with Broccoli (GF choice). She couldnt handle the hot Chicken dish but she wish she could have. Took one bite and loved it right before the heat kicked in. Everything else was exceptional. If youre in DC and need some Chinese I highly recommend this place.

I am Chinese and I can tell you that their food is gross. Their staff are unprofessional and poorly trained. Their food is stinky and produced bad stomachs. I can tell that for all the meet related food, they use meat that are more than 6 months old and microwave them. Thats why things are not fresh at all. Try on your own risk. I will never go to this restaurant any more. Instead, I think the 14th street Asian Bistro use ingredients that are fresher. Sichuan Pavilion used to be good back in 2007/2008. Over the past decade, their food has gone down the hill, not sure if this is because they hired different chefs

Their food is so tasty and this is literally the quickest Ive ever received Chinese food. Very commendable preparation time. We ordered Kung pao lamb, shredded pork in black bean sauce, noodles and combination of chicken and shrimp, noodles in beef soup (not sure of the name). The owner actually advised us to take out some items as the food would be too much, thats a unique thing to do, not many people would advise you to not spend so much on food in their restaurant. I will definitely go back again today. It is kind of expensive though, so just keep that in mind

EXPECT SPICE: Im not personally a fan of Chinese cuisine, but even I found this local restaurant worth the $20/person price tag. Sichuan pavilion is a surprisingly authentic taste of Chinas "spice capitol": Sichuan Province. While Ive never been to the Sichuan Province of China, the friends who accompanied me told me that they felt like they were back in the spice capitol when eating. The dishes are communal, parties order several and then take food from the plate and mix it in their personal rice bowls to eat. A neat social way to dine.

I say NO during Lunch times! This place has the potential to provide stellar Chinese food. However, this tiny place gets so packed that you barely have time to think or eat with their "herd them in & pump them out attitude." Ive tried them 3 times and unfortunately their too busy atmosphere is their downfall. Combo fried rice - with no shrimp and barely fried with seasoning Sweet & Sour Chkn & Beef with barely enough sauce After waiting long enough to finally get a table - they provide food quality that reflects no attention.
