I cant say that this is the best place to eat, but when youve got a hankering for some wings on the cheap.... Well, sure. I ate here for the last time a few nights ago, and while I wont miss the oily food and the dangerous location, I will say that I wont miss it much at all. I did see rats outside of the place, or maybe they were just giant mice. Needless to say, it was only after I had purchased my order. And well, you cant throw away food. Im sure that the deep frying would have killed any bacteria that would have otherwise collected on it. The inside looks like a bulletproof soup kitchen without a good place to sit. College students and homeless people frequent the area. Well that may sound like a bad place to get food, you have to ask yourself why that would even raise a brow, considering that it looks sketchy as hell to begin with...from the outside...even in the pictures. Why did I eat here? Call it a phase. Though Ive moved on, like when I graduated from college, I wont try to relive those memories.

Ill start off by saying this is a no frills, nothing fancy, almost off-puttingly low brow Chinese food carryout. That being said, Ive been addicted to this place for over a decade! They have made solid efforts to improve the appearance over the last couple years but they have their wings, fries, and Mambo are unparralled. They are very inexpensive and are open late. Great place to grab a bite if youre visiting the world famous Howard University.

My gf came from London for her DC visit. As a native Washingtonian, it was only right to hook her on to the classic Chicken, Fries (salt n peppa) and mambo sauce on everything. Needless to say she went three times in two weeks for this sweet n sour-like, but unexplainable tasting sauce we all know and love. Shes back in London now, and craving (more like itching for) HoChis.

The food is great. I have been coming here for years. And out of all the carry outs I have been too, this one has the best mumbo sauce. But there are times when they drop the ball. As in maybe missing a chicken wing or missing a egg roll. So if you not in a rush, I would double check your order for accuracy...

The best Chinese food spot in the city. No other mambo sauce comes close. I remember being introduced to mambo sauce the first time I came to DC from NJ. Ho Chi got me through freshman year. Drew Hall, penthouse 2002!

I have been eating at hochi since freshman year, yea its sketchy as hell but the food is sooo good!!! and dont even get me started on that half and half im sayn eat for three days off of Ho Chi with one order!!

The mambo sauce is orange, tangy, and amazing. Chicken wings hot, crispy, juicy, and delicious. The fries are on point. Steak and cheese eggroll is sublime; who knew deep fried lettuce could be so good?

Decent American Chinese take-out style food. Not authentic cantonese/szechuan if thats what youre looking for. However, their steak and cheese is not bad.
