Yes, we are totally addicted--some of the best fried chicken in the DC area can be found at these terrific Korean-style spots. The service at the DC location is friendly and efficient for dine-in, carry out, and at the bar. We go for half and half spicy/soy garlic wing and tender orders--so good! The spicy, is really, truly hot and the soy garlic the perfect savory-sweet balance. A few small things keep this at 4 stars. 1) occasionally inconsistent preparation--sometimes all the chicken is over-salted, the tenders are overcooked (though the wings never are), or the jap chae (usually delicious) is too oily and stingy with the vegetables--about one visit out of five. We only visit when there is not a Nats game, so crowds not the issue. 2) $8 for totally standard onion rings--thats agressive, even by DC standards, for a fast casual type place. 3) Rail liquor is Aristocrat. Come on, Bonchon, youre better than that. Despite these quibbles, chicken is fantastic, and Im sure well continue to surrender to the craving from time to time--more likely to grab takeout since were not super enamored with the bar selection.

Currently, my go to wing spot in the Navy Yard area. I like to get the ten piece with half Soy Garlic and half of the Hot. The hot is fairly hot for me, but my friend who likes to drink Mad Dog 357 seems to think the hot are not hot AT ALL. (I get it, Brandon, you eat hot sauce for fun!) I eat the hot first so that I can relax my tongue with the tasty soy garlic and radish on the second half of the meal. Be careful if youre on a diet, the wings are high in calories. This place is perfect for a beer or lunch, and I LOVE the Salmon Ball for an appetizer. The chicken sandwiches are yum, but the meat is a little tougher than I prefer (Chick-fil-A has spoiled me). I havent had a bad experience or a bad meal here. Totally worth it if youre looking for some wings and you dont need a loud BWW atmosphere.

First off, food is great. The process for takeout is simple and is a great way to enjoy the food without having to find parking or wait in house if you arent with a group. The location has plenty of booths and tables and a well appointed bar. Service was a little off but not bad, orders were mixed up around the table etc. but staff was polite, personable and pleasant. If with a group and ordering appetizers the wait for main course is ok but if solo or in a hurry Take Out may be for you. I did have a hair in my chicken but the server corrected the situation very quickly, although there was no visit or check from a manager.

OMG the Fried Chicken. Normally flavored Fried Chicken is very greasy OR the added sauce makes it sticky, messy, and falling off. Somehow BonChon’s Fried Chicken has the flavor (Spicy or Soy Garlic) built INTO the Chicken’s skin. AND it wasn’t dripping or greasy. Meanwhile the Salmon Avocado Ball was one of those dishes that bring gasps and staring from all the diners as it passed by. The crowd in here definitely seem to be residents from the nearby apartments as well as some businessmen. It was crowded—even during a Tuesday lunch. I’d definitely return.

If you love Bonchon chicken (which I do), this is a great spot. Its in a still-emerging area, and not surrounded immediately by much. Before a game or show or Yards Park happenings, it might be pretty crowded. But they have happy hour specials (awesome), and I havent had a rough wait at all. The chicken meets bonchon standards - fried and tasty. I really only go for the chicken and cannot speak to the other food there. You can also beat the wait by calling ahead to just carry-out your order. Take it to Yards Park, and have a chicken picnic.

Bonchon has slowly been opening up operations in and around the city. This franchise business serves up crispy fried chicken to the masses as well as some other Asian inspired dishes. The location is relatively large for a bonchon and while generally packed hasnt required much of a wait for seating or food. Otherwise service was speedy and observant, providing quick refills and table cleanup. Pro tip: The lunch specials here allow you to get your Korean fried crack..i mean chicken fix for about 11 bucks. Definitely worth the visit.

The food is great the service is the worst you can experience. This is my second time here, first time loved the food hated the service. Thought of giving it another chance hoping it was just an off day for the bartender. Here I am with about 8 employees and what I can only assume is a manager. Are my food and havent even had a single bartender check on me. They walk around the bar over and over like headless chickens. Save your tipping money and order to go you would have a much more enjoyable experience

Very poor service, we didnt receive two items that we ordered and they were not removed from the bill even after we asked. Our waitress was horrible and the restaurant was complete chaos, after waiting for 15 minutes for a manager to show up I simply paid and left. I would caution anyone in coming here, maybe other locations are good but the one at the Navy Yard is absolutely terrible, amateur hour at best. I wish I had two more hands so I could give Bon Chon four thumbs down

About once a year, I crave boneless chicken wings and Bonchon is my fix. You can get a bucket of boneless chicken wings with two different kind of glazes on it- spicy or garlic soy. I recommend the garlic soy. Get the small portion and youll be full! Other than that, the food here is just okay. Its a large restaurant that is never full, but they do offer drinks and Korean inspired food items from noodles to bonchon. If you are craving boneless chicken wings, come here!

There are two things preventing Bon Chon from being great. 1) More side fries. For most items fries are not automatically a side. When ordered as a separate side the portion is meager, especially for the cost. 2) Shrinking portion size. Fries are not the only portion monster victim. Over the past year in frequenting the establishment with colleagues, Ive seen the portions of entrees also decrease. Despite the above, the food tastes great.

Okay so maybe this place is known for their Korean BBQ style fried chicken and I didnt order it. Sure maybe I ordered the cheapest app on the menu. Whatever. Shame on me. But 4.3 average review and Zagat rated?? Please. I had one bite of the fried shrimp dumplings and thought, "Oh yeah. This is definitely gonna make me sick." Battered and fried, flavorless, squishy nastiness. The jalepeño mule was pretty good.

We had a large party and it was difficult getting seated and later difficult with our orders. They ended up giving us a lot of extra food and drinks and not charging us, but it was pretty disorganized and slow. It just opened, so feels like new restaurant issues. Great with groups smaller than 8 probably. My wife and I have gone by ourselves and had great experiences.

Im ecstatic that bonchon has opened in the District. The food is exactly what youd expect from bonchon (that is, really crispy, delicious fried chicken). They have great sides as well including pickled turnips (tastes better than it sounds) and dumplings/shumai. No delivery, but if you call about 15 minutes in advance, you can pick up very easily.
