Not impressed. I shared several small plates with a friend and had a few drinks. The food was fair, but pricey for the amount. The dessert (chocolate cake) was dry and inedible. There was a guy stumbling around drunk, who practically fell in my friends lap and this was at only 9pm. Yet, despite all of this we still tipped more than 20% each. The following week, I noticed that my account had been charged more than I authorized. Essentially, it was as if I had given a 40% tip! My friend was charged the correct amount and tip. I did get the extra amount credited back to my account after filing a complaint with my bank. If you go, hang on to your receipt until the charge clears your bank.!

Living in a town where a traditional cocktail is hard to get, it was a great treat for me to have an EXCELLENT Old Fashion. One of the best I have had and that is my drink. The small plates were exceptional. The bar reminds me of a bistro in a much larger city. I like the space and atmosphere. Will be returning soon to sample their special drinks and more of the food. And I did return and had the Gentlemans Jig. Just the best. My friend liked the hip atmosphere. Still the best cocktails around and food too, excellent.

Food was tasty but portions were smaller than expected. Burger was seasoned very well and had unique sauces and toppings but it only came with about 14 individual potato chips, not very filling. I wish the burger came with an additional complimentary salad to pair with the richness of the burger. In general, there were no salads available on the menu which was surprising granted this place admiration for fresh ingredients. Indoor decor and bar were very pleasant however.

I love this place. Ive been 8 or 9 times, and never had a bad experience. The food is good (the best mussels Ive had - I could NOT stop eating them!), the drinks selection is plentiful, and they throw a great dance party (DJ Zip - and he accommodates requests!). We even did New Years Eve at Merchant, and it was well worth the $50, as it was open bar from 9 - midnight. This may be my favorite place in Wilmington.

Ambience is great. I love the decor here. I couldnt stop looking around and checking out the art. The menu is limited and mostly small plates. We had the lamb meatballs, tuna poke, baked crab dip, pork bao buns, calamari, and the ribs. All were done well but the crab dip and the tuna were my favorites. Drinks are also done well. It is somewhat pricey.

Eclectic menu ... good food. Came to see a local band play. Fantastic atmosphere! 3 stars for horrific service and the a-hole bartender who was clearly disturbed every time we asked him for a drink. Buddy, you killed it for me. I certainly shouldnt feel guilty asking for drinks (especially when Im sitting at your bar!)

As a local who spends about 80% of her evenings at Merchant Bar, its safe to safe I love this place. The food is phenomenal, and the drinks are even better. The normal bartender, Doug, may be the light of my life. If youre not drinking here, youre missing out.

Good food and good eats. Hostess was awesome as our group of six came with no reservations on a busy Saturday night but somehow found us seats and got us fed before the show next door at world cafe live. Thanks Merchant bar!

Started our NYE night here, beautiful interior and super friendly staff!!! Had a great time to start off and branch to another bar. Did not eat anything , only had one glass of wine, but was very impressed.
