Not thrilled by the new Grotto pizza in Middletown… My wife and I went there on Friday (6/24) night. While the bartenders, drinks and food were pretty good, the management and food hygiene were not so great… Two of my wife’s orders came with an extra topping of hair. But the best part was the manager who explained the situation with quotes like: “That’s not my hair!” and “I don’t know how that hair got there! Everybody in the back is wearing hair nets!”… While she did deduct the hair-meals from our bill (my wife barely got 2 bites of each before she got hair in her mouth), I didn’t appreciate being indirectly called a liar (especially after finding short blonde hairs in our food when my wife and I have dark brown and solid black hair). I personally don’t know how to run a restaurant, but it seems to me like most professionally operated businesses manage to keep bodily emissions out of food.

A slice of the beach at home. Ive always been a fan of the original Grottos Pizza down at the beaches and Im now happy to report that the experiences and professionalism you love at the original locations can be found right around the corner from home. Ive been to the Middletown Grottos many times and Ive always been treated very well here. And on top of the excellent service and food, they also have great discounts for us military veterans (Just remember to ask about it). It doesnt matter if its a night out with the squad at the sports bar section or a relaxing evening with the family in the main seating areas, this is a great place to have a great time and fantastic food.

Id like to start by saying that, when I came in and asked the person taking my order what was good, the answer was "I dont know, I dont eat here." (I should have taken his advice). I then proceeded to order the white pizza, which was recommended by another server as one of the better selections. The pizza tasted no better than the cardboard box it came in. I did also get some chicken tenders in chili sauce, which werent bad, but I was very disappointed in the pizza. Its not THAT hard to make good pizza, or to have friendly staff members who understand customer service... Next time, Ill go somewhere else.

It was our first time and a bit disappointing. My partner said his pizza was OK, but I ordered a salad and it came on a flat dish, with only one fork, and it was difficult to eat. 9 dollars for a small salad!!! And completely tasteless. Our waiter tried hard but the service in general is not that good: can we have a napkin? (they give you just one paper napkin per person), can we have knives for the pizza?

My girlfriend and I had a Verdi calzone and a salad that tasted very good, however within a half hour of getting home we both have had explosive reactions to our meal. I called them what we had and he said we dont keep food for more than 3 days. I would of thought that he would of taken my number and called just in case others called. . I will never go back again..

The food was okay. We asked for an extra side cup to put some malt vinager in and he brought back a cheese cup. We explained again and he brought us back empty ones. The bill came and charged us for the cheese cup which we didnt touch or ask for. The pepperoni calzone was ridiculously greasy. I dont recommend it. The fries were very fresh and good.

Lunch today at Grottos in Middletown Delaware. We both had the pizza & salad special and it was very good. Our server Joey gave us excellent service. We stop here often, and never been disappointed. Thanks Grottos

The food was not very good. It was later in the evening and there was nothing but teenagers in there being loud. Manager didnt seem to care because he was carrying on just as much. Wont be going back here anytime soon.

Theres a good selection on the menu and the pizza is good. Some of the other sandwich choices could be better. I have had calzones and other sandwiches and they never seem to be quite as good as the pizza.

Well I loved the food and our waitress was very nice. I visited on a Sunday night and had Chili, Wings with the bone and a Flatbread appetizer that was off the hook! Will be back

I went here with mom for Easter. As a family growing up we would hit the one on the beach in DE. Nice to have one a little closer. Great Pizza! The Supreme is loaded!

Food great. Service great. In bar area, about 15 TVs, they need to have closed caption. Why have the TVs if you cannot hear them and you dont have closed caption
